Interrogation

Rotich paid close attention to every expression Robert gave him to read his reactions and probably understand his thinking. The calm and quiet face of the suspect gave him nothing at all. Robert just sat at the chair and looked at him plainly as if nothing had happened a few minutes ago.

From the way things were going, the Sergeant had to think critically of ways to open up and get the information needed.

"Ok. We will let you go as long as you give us the information we need. Also, we may put you up as a state-protected witness. What do you think?"

"Ha-ha, do you think I buy the story you are telling me? I will not speak to any of you send me to prison. Am ready," said Robert calmly and contemptuously.

Sergeant Rotich could not hold his anger anymore as he threw a slap to his face without hesitation.

"It seems you have not heard of me, and you want to taste my medicines, huh. Well, let's start the game then."

He immediately lashed him to the wall and pounded on him simultaneously until he could not hold his breath anymore. He then threw him down as he landed on his behind painfully. Though he was stubborn, you could see the pain written all over his face.

Sergeant Rotich removed his coat and threw it down on the floor without caring whether it would be filled with dust. He then moved forward to Robert, took him by both his hands, and punched him down severally. Robert scrawled on the floor, struggling to stand up on his feet. He found himself seated and hit again on his face, unexpectedly spitting blood from his mouth and nose. He remained quiet for so long that the Sergeant left the room for a while.

While waiting at the office for a while, Sargent Michael looked at the opened door and stood up to look at Sergeant Rotich, who had just exited the room furiously.

"Has he confessed to the crime and the mastermind?" Asked Sergeant Michael impatiently

"Not yet; this guy seemed to have been trained for a long time," answered sergeant Rotich while thinking for a while.

"This guy is a professional. I can attest to how he behaved from the moment we arrested him this morning. To get him to talk, we have to do it from a different angle." Continued the Sergeant as he turned to leave the room.

"What do you think we should do to get him to talk? "Asked Sergeant Michael from behind

"Let's give him time to reflect," answered Sergeant Rotich as he sped his steps away.

Rotich opened the metal door and entered the room before taking Robert by his hand and sitting down.

"Since you have decided not to talk, let's see how you are going to survive without your tongue," said Sergeant Rotich as he took pliers from his pocket. He looked at the middle-aged man from where he was standing and wondered how much he was paid to stick up to the perpetrator. Whoever the perpetrator was, he was linked to the events that had been happening for the past few months at the county.

"Do you think the man who hired you gives a hoot of what will happen to you in prison? Let's wait and see if he will be capable of getting you out."

You could see blood all over his vest, and also, the pain he felt was not compared to any he experienced anywhere. Robert thought for a while about what he was going to do. His whole body was in pain –plus also, the bullet he got from the shoot out on his upper arm was not removed yet. It seemed the police had no intention of taking him to the hospital anyway. He looked down at his bloodstained body, blurred sight, almost paralyzed arm, and above all, his eyes were nearly shut from the punches he got from the police.

"Take me to the hospital for medical attention, then ill spill out everything I know," stated Robert at last. He could not bear to feel the pain all over again for a man that abandoned him to his fate after everything he did for him. Taking on all the blame was not what he wanted to do, especially for somebody not worth it. If he was going down for murder, fraud, and conspiracy against Mr. Ekeno Dennis of the SSD Company, there was no way he was going down alone. Besides, he was not the one that masterminded everything. If he remembered correctly, Mark refused to help him out of the case and sacrificed him for his selfish interest.

"Well, that could be arranged, but after you have written your statement and named all those involved in this mystery and I promise to keep my end of the bargain to the end." Said the Sergeant

After a short period of silence, Robert finally spoke, "Ok. Ok, I'll tell you everything I know."

With so many things happening at the same time, nobody knew about anything so far. It's a miracle they have got the guy to talk. There might be something that happened in between the interview or before the arrest. Whatever happened, they don't care as long as they solve the case and get it over and done with.
