He slowed his steps, and Chocolate did too.
Caspian turned. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” He patted Chocolate’s head.
“Then why are we stopping?” Caspian looked along the bridge, both behind them and in front of them.
“The town…do you want to go for a walk in town?”
“We usually do. We walk along the river. It’s mostly deserted this time of night, and there are lampposts the entire way, not to mention there are trashcans.” He held up a dog waste bag
“Right.” Flynn nodded. He could understand Caspian not wanting to carry around those bags any longer than he had to. With a final scratch behind Chocolate’s ear, he straightened and continued the walk.
“Here.” Caspian handed him a leash. Chocolate’s leash. “She’s already walking by your side, so you might as well hold her.”
“She’s a good girl.”
“She is, but I don’t appreciate a man trying to steal my dog.” The look Caspian gave him was so serious, Flynn burst out laughing.
“I don’t think you have to worry.”
