He’d walked closer to the source of the noise and removed the blankets before gasping aloud in shock. There were explosives underneath. When he shouted his warning, Aurelius lifted him up like a sack of potatoes and rushed away from the danger zone. The other agents followed them in a hurry, which was fortunate. They managed to escape being blown into a thousand pieces in the nick of time.

They were not that far away from the explosion, but his magic shield, which he threw out in desperation at the last minute, had done an adequate job of protecting them. He couldn’t have erected a powerful shield inside the building itself, because his defensive magic was still weaker than his offensive magic. Grams had chided him multiple times over that during their practice runs. He strengthened his resolve to train harder in the future.

After the explosion, the vampire replaced him on the ground before he put his hands down and looked around to make sure that everyone was alright.
