So far, Danny had been quiet in the car, just sitting with an adorable look of contentment on his face. Evan hoped to see a lot more of that. He reached over and squeezed his new husband’s hand. “You okay?”
Danny looked up and smiled. “Couldn’t be better. Do you want to tell me where we’re headed?”
“I booked a hotel room for us.”
“Sounds like fun. But—and I hate to mention it—we really should be back at the house no later than six in the morning. Cause that’s when my mother is going to put us to work.”
Evan groaned. “I know. But I’m not giving up my wedding night to placate your mother.”
“Um, actually, she’s your mother-in-law now.”
“Oh, God. There’s something terrifying about that. But I think I’ll deal with it tomorrow. So enough talk about Nessa. I want to talk about us. Now first, I have to warn you, my finances didn’t extend to a room at the Regency Grand. Is that okay with you?”
