Chapter 3: Unending Fall

What was going on?

Why did this happen?

My head was in pain and I couldn't think straight.

Staggering to a nearby wall, I leaned against it.

Damn, it hurt.

People started gathering around me attracted to the noise I made.

I felt myself losing consciousness and falling to the floor.

The last think I remember were people surrounding me and shouting insults at me.

"That's the one who stole my bread!"

"No, that's the one who snatched my armor!"

"What do you mean? He's the one who pilfered my vegetables!"

Under all the insults, I was just lying there unconscious.

When I came to, I was surrounded by multiple guards and tied up to some sort of iron board.

I shouted at the top of my lungs," What is this?"

They all stopped what they were doing and started staring at me.

Their eyes felt like daggers piercing through my flesh.

I couldn't take it anymore and I started to squirm against the chains that bound me.

Struggling against the chains that bound me, I began to panic.

Now that I looked carefully, I saw rocks surrounding me and when I looked down, there was a bottomless pit.

I paled.

No, not here!

Whimpering, I pleaded with them to let me go.

When they started pushing me closer to the edge I began screaming.

"What did I even do?" I cried.

"Make way, make way."

A tall blonde haired man pushed through the crowd.

With his domineering gaze, I instantly shrinked in fear of him.

He looked at me coldly like he was looking at trash.

"Hawthorne Gidley, you have been convicted of theft, damage of property and potential risk of lives."

"With this you are sentenced to death."

Sweeping me off my feet, he rushed next to me.

"Farewell, may you be better in your next life." He whispered into my ear.

Eyes widening, I realized what he was about to do.

I tried to speak but I could not make a sound.

SHOVE!!!
