Chapter 58 : Midterm Exam Mystery (2)

"Does this wallet seem familiar to you?"

To be honest, I was pretty shaken up inside. A thing that I thought had gone forever became the incriminating evidence of a crime I didn't do. Seriously, what's with my super unfortunate luck? 

As I sat there feeling dumbstruck, I missed the timing to come up with an excuse. Mrs. Gabrielle asked me again, "Judging by your reaction, this wallet must be yours after all."

'Should I lie and say it wasn't mine? No, that's a bad idea. I have been using this wallet since forever, and if by some chance there are people who remember, they will uncover my lies at once.'

I forcefully swallowed the lump in my throat and replied, "Yes, this is mine."

Mrs. Gabrielle smiled with satisfaction. "Then, care to explain why your wallet was found in front of the teacher's office this morning?"

How should I know? It wasn't me who dropped it there.
