Chapter 115: Xenos

(3rd Person: POV)

After Morax removed the tarp from the cage, everyone was left speechless.

Since inside of the cage was a monster. A harpy. But it was wasn't attacking them. Rather is was cowering in fear of them.

"Please, don't hurt me." The harpy girl spoke.

As she did so everyone got even more confused than they already were.

"Wait, is she a monster?" Leonmitchelli asked.

"She looks like one. But she's talking." Diluc pointed out.

"What the fuck?" Gaul blurted out.

Saying the words on everyone's mind.

Except for Morax of course.

Since thanks to his foreknowledge he knew exactly what was going on. Still, he put a surprised expression on his face as to not let his friends know the truth.

He's a pretty decent actor.

Ryuu said nothing. She just continued staring at the harpy girl in the cage.

Coming out the shadows where he was hiding, Rogue did the same thing.

As the Athena familia members continued to stare at the Xenos, Fels appeared in the alley.

"Well done. I thank you for your assistance Athena familia." He spoke.

"Hey, explain." Leonmitchelli demanded. "Why is there a monster girl in front of us talking and scared?" She asked.

"Everything will be explained in due time. But let us leave the area first. Since I don't think this is the best place to have that conversation." Fels said.

"Fels is right. Let's move out." Morax spoke.

He then walked up to the cage and cut it open using Vortex Vanquisher.

After he did so the harpy girl climbed out. Some of her fear gone after seeing Fels.

Since she knew him.

And she knew he would never do anything to harm her. Same for his allies.

Once the harpy girl was free from her cage, the Athena familia left the area.

Making sure not to forget to bring the unconscious Ikelos familia member along with them.

He still had some questions to answer after all.

No matter if he wanted to or not.

(Morax: POV)

Standing against the wall of the abandoned warehouse we selected as our meeting place after the operation, I watched as the Xenos we rescued interacted with the others.

Turns out her name is Fear.

One of the Xenos who appears during canon.

Though I didn't realize such until she told us her name.

After living in this world for so long I've forgotten a lot of minor details about the Danmachi plot. The major events are still firmly in my mind, but little things have slipped. Like the names of certain characters.

Overall it's not a huge deal in the long run.

Hearing the door to the warehouse opened I turned my head in its direction. Seeing Ryner and his group enter.

Since they were the ones responsible for dealing with the slavers and their ship.

"Hey, so how did it go?" I asked them.

"We didn't have any problems. We eliminated the slavers and their ship entirely." Ryner explained.

"Nice work." I said.

"Right." Ryner said.

After he did so his gaze then immediately went to Fear.

"Am, is that a harpy or have I gone insane?" William asked.

"No, that is a harpy. But she's not dangerous. She's an intelligent monster who has feeling and emotions." I explained.

"Oh!!!" Echidna shouted. Getting a strange smile on her face and a weird look in her eyes.

Running up to Fear, she started panting heavily like some pervert.

"Intelligent monster. Ha, hey little one what do you say to letting me examine your body thoroughly?" Echidna asked.

As she did so I gave a nod in Ryuu's direction.

Getting one in return she took out Alf's Lumina and smacked Echidna over the head. Before grabbing her collar and dragging her away from Fear.

Just as she did so Fels returned, Athena by his side.

Since she stayed at the hotel while we conducted the operation.

Upon entering Athenas' eyes landed on Fear. She then put a dangerous smile on her face and turned to Fels. "Fels, mind explaining." She said.

As she did so I saw Fels shiver visibly.

Which he shouldn't be able to do since he has no skin on his bones.

Heh, bone joke.

Anyway.

"Yes. I was just waiting for everyone to arrive before giving an explanation to what Fear is." Fels said.

After he did so we then all gathered around him and he told us everything about the Xenos.

How they are intelligent monsters born in the dungeon, how other monsters hunt them, how they long for the surface, and how they are being sold on the black market. But most importantly he told us how Ouranos wishes to be able to help the Xenos live on the surface one day.

"Huh, so that's 'Ouranos's game." Athena mused.

"Yes, lord Ouranos wishes to help the Xenos." Fels explained. "No matter how long it may take."

"Of course. It's not like people will just accept the Xenos." Millhiore spoke up.

She's right. They look like monsters and people usually always judge based on outside appearance instead of what's inside.

If the Xenos existence was made known to the world at large adventurers would start hunting them as well.

"Thank you for explaining things to us Fels. Now then I have three questions for you? Who else knows about the Xenos? What are Ouranous's plan to help introduce them to the surface world? Finally, was Ouranos always planning to get my familia and I involved with the Xenos?" Athena asked.

She took the words right out of my mouth.

I'm pretty sure Ouranos and Fels could've rescued Fear without us someway. Yet, they specifically asked for my familia's help. Telling me they wanted to introduce us to a Xenos, and had hardly any fears we would hurt her.

Everything is probably all going according to Ouranos plan.

He's not the leader of Orario and the guild for nothing.

"To answer your questions in order lady Athena. Ganesha knows about the Xenos, as does his captain Shakti Varma. For your second question, this year we will introduce an event in Orario known as Monsterphelia. Where the Ganesha familia will bring monsters from the dungeon up to the surface and tame them in front of the public. Showcasing that monsters can be docile and can be understood. As for the last question, yes. Ouranos was always planning to involve the Athena familia with the Xenos. He felt that you would not judge them as monsters, but rather assist us in helping them." Fels spoke.

"I see." Athena mused. "Well Ouranos was right. My children and I will have no issues aiding the Xenos. Isn't that right all of you?" She asked us.

"I'm fine with it." Gaul said.

"Yeah, I've got no problem with this." Rogue said.

"So there are more Xenos than just the cute little harpy. Ha, I want to study them all." Echidna said.

"I see no problem in helping them." Ryuu stated.

Everyone else agreed in helping the Xenos as well.

"There you have it Fels." Athena said. "You can tell Ouranos we are on board."

"He will be most pleased to hear that." Fels stated. "Also, we wish to ask the Astraea familia to help us in our cause to bring the Xenos to the surface, and we would like your assistance in bringing them into the fold." He said.

"No problem. I have no doubt Astraea and her girls would be more than happy to help the Xenos out. I'll talk to her about it and let you know." Athena said.

"Most appreciated." Fels said. "Well then I think it is time Fear and I took our leave. Please enjoy the rest of your vacation." He spoke.

With that we said our goodbyes to Fear and Fels and returned to our hotel.

A mission accomplished and a new one gained.

Just another day in the world of Danmachi.

A/N: So I just want to say that J.C. staff killed it on this weeks episode of Danmachi.

They really captured the demise of the Astraea familia so well. Showcasing all of Ryuu's pain and grief. As well as her anger.

And cuteness.

Considering the blush she gave Bell during the end of the episode.

Yep, it was excellent.

But next weeks episode will be even better.

Since it's finally time for the 37th floor safe zone scene, where Bell and Ryuu hug each other naked. I swear if the anime ruins it I won't ever forgive them.

It better be glorious!
