The city was in an uproar. Deaths and terror had made their name on every street of Tokyo. It was a great disaster.
People hopelessly sat inside their houses waiting for help but they were getting on the edge of their patience. They were low on supplies and going out to get more supplies was out of the question. All the streets and workspace were manifested by those monsters. Even if the streets looked empty, there was no guarantee that the next turn would be safe. And, no monster would be silently awaiting there to feast on their blood.
But, even in that disaster. A certain group of five people hadn't given up yet. It was Raiden's group which included, Toshi, Makie, Sheila, Jun and Raiden himself. The five had seen what kind of terror they were up against. But, they refused to give up. To survive and protect each other, they had teamed up to fight against the terror.
It was the morning and those five had completed their breakfast which Toshi and Sheila made together.
They enjoyed the moment of happiness while feasting on their breakfast. It was the pleasure that Raiden's group got after a lot of days. All the past days were just straight misery for them. But, this time it was finally some happiness.
They completed their breakfast and put the dishes in the sink. The group again settled around the dining table. The fun talks were over and it was time to get serious.
"We are almost out of supplies," Toshi started the serious conversation.
Jun who was telling a fun story stopped after Toshi brought up the serious topic.
"Yeah," Raiden added, "We are pretty much done here and the only thing left is what we brought from Toshi's house. There wasn't much left in his house either so sharing everything with five people…" Raiden estimated the amount of food they had left, "We will go empty around tomorrow."
"No need to worry about it," Jum said. "There is a store right around the corner, we can get all the supplies from there."
"You are saying as if I don't know that," Raiden said, sarcastically.
"Oh, well, of course, you do. You live here."
"Okay, it doesn't matter," Makie jumped into the conversation. "What matters is there is a store around the corner but are we ready to go out there?"
"Yesterday we came from outside," Toshi said. "So I don't see any problems there."
"We got lucky that time that we didn't find any of them. But, this time could be different."
"I don't think so," Sheila spoke up. "A few days ago, we ran out of all the supplies that were in the house so we had to move out and we found that store. Luckily no monster was there. And, now that I think about it, I haven't seen any of them around this area in these past few days."
"Yeah, it's weird," Raiden said. "Not just this area, but from where we came from too. Those monsters were roaming around us for the first few days but I haven't seen them at all afterwards."
"Could it be that their number is decreasing?" Jun asked with excitement.
But, Toshi put a cold stone on all of his excitement, "It's still too early to think about that. If they are not here then they must be somewhere else. But whatever the case is, I just don't see them getting extinct this easily."
"Yeah, we can't let our guard down," Sheila said.
"Okay, whatever is going on we will have to go out there to get the food. But, before that, comes something very important that we have to decide right now."
Everyone looked at Raiden to find out the important thing that they had to decide.
Raiden put his hand on the table and came a little forward toward the group to make them hear his words more clear.
"What are we going to do after that? Stay in this house or go elsewhere?"
That was the thing that they had to decide.
Raiden continued, "This question is mainly for the two of you."
Raiden looked at both Jun and Sheila. They also knew that this question was for them.
"We three have already decided that we won't stay in this city. Now, it's up to you to decide what to do. We did talk about surviving this apocalypse together. But, are you two really ready for that? To go out and face the terror right at your face?"
The question Raiden asked could be the toughest thing to decide in that apocalypse. Going out on the streets and facing the monsters that every other person is desperately trying to hide from? Any sane person would get scared of that thought.
But, Jun and Sheila had to make that decision.
They took their time thinking about it and finally Sheila spoke up, "We will come."
Jun nodded to show that he was on the same page as Sheila.
"If you have made your decision then I welcome you with us," Raiden said with a smile.
Makie had a smile on her face too but Toshi just sat there as usual.
"Let's survive this together," Makie said while looking at Sheila.
She got Sheila's smile as a response.
"Okay if that's decided then let's get moving this evening," Raiden said.
"Woah. We can't be leaving this early?" Jun asked.
"No. We will leave tomorrow but today we have to get the supplies for the store," Toshi said.
"Yeah," Raiden added.
"But, what's our destination?" Sheila asked.
"My home," Makie said. "We are leaving the city either way and my home is in the same way so we can take some rest there."
"Don't worry Maki. We would have gone to your house either way even if it was in the opposite direction of where we had to go," Raiden said.
"Hey! Don't call me Maki!" She tried to show her stubborn side but inside she was happy that she got some friends who cared about her despite being in the worst possible situation.
"Understood!" Sheila exclaimed. "Now all left to decide is who is going to the store?"
"Me and Toshi," Raiden said.
Toshi and Makie had no problem with it but both Jun and Sheila called in on that.
"I will go, too."
"I will go, too."
