The door of Toshi's mother's room had been closed. Leaving Toshi's father inside, isolated.
The group of 3 Toshi, Makie, and Raiden gathered inside the hall room. Toshi held his Katana with both his hands and examined it carefully.
"Was that the right thing to do?" Makie was still worried about Toshi's father.
"Don't worry," Toshi held back his sword and looked over to Makie. "It's just how he wants things to be."
"But… still-"
"Maki, it's alright. When a man makes his decisions, no one can stop him," Raiden said.
Makie finally accepted it in respect for Toshi's father's final decision. She didn't call out on it again.
"When should we leave?" She asked.
"Right now," Raiden said.
"What? But, it's about to go dark out there."
"Yeah, that's why we have to hurry," Toshi added in.
"But, why can't we go tomorrow?" Makie asked.
"Think about it. Tomorrow will be the 7th day. Meaning all those who have bitten 3 days ago, will turn tomorrow morning. Just like Toshi's father. So, it's better to leave now before we have fewer numbers of those things," Raiden explained.
"Oh, okay. So we better hurry, then."
"Yeah, grab some bags and stuff them with food and your necessary stuff," Toshi instructed as he left the hall to grab the bags. Raiden and Makie followed behind him.
All 3 of them picked up one bag and started taking necessary stuff from the house. The fridge was emptied and they took some spare pairs of clothes.
They were now ready to leave with their backpacks on their backs.
"Before we leave," Toshi said. "I wanna give something to you Raiden."
"Something to me? What it is?"
"Follow me."
Raiden and Makie again followed Toshi into his room. Where he opened the drawer and brought out another Katana.
"This was my sword before my father gave me his. You take it, Raiden."
Toshi handed over his previous sword to Raiden.
Raiden hesitated and said, "how can I take it? It's yours."
"Not anymore. This new sword is my sword now," Toshi looked over to the sword his father gave to him. "And, I have no use of this old sword, anymore. It's better if you have it. Take it. It will help us survive from those monsters."
Raiden looked toward Toshi. He finally nodded and accepted the sword. "If you say so. I will take it."
"Good." Toshi looked over to Makie and called out her name, "Makie!"
"Yeah?" She responded.
"Take this," he handed over a sharp knife to Makie. "Use this in any emergency."
She firmly nodded and took the knife.
Now, they were finally ready to leave. But, before leaving, they went inside Toshi's father's room. Where Ralf was looked in.
Ralf was still like that, what he was 3 days ago.
Snarling, screaming, trying to get out of that rope and, attack those 3 standing in front of him.
"I can't look at how he has become. It- it's so sad," Makie said.
Makie looked toward Raiden and asked, "What's going to happen to Ralf?"
"I don't know. We have nothing to do for him."
"We will have to leave him here," Toshi said.
They could not do anything to help Ralf. They had to leave him alone in that room, tied up by a rope.
"Goodbye Ralf," Makie said and she left the room.
"See ya, buddy," Toshi said and followed Makie.
Raiden stood in that room glaring at Ralf for a few seconds. Losing another one of his friends was on his mind. Chido, Takeshi, and now Ralf. But, he couldn't do anything about it.
Raiden turned around and exited the room. He held the door to close it. But, looked at Ralf for one final time. "Ralf, I promise. I will be back. Whether it is to cure you from this state or set you out of your current misery. I will be back, one day."
He finally shut down the door on his friend, leaving him behind, all alone.
Raiden reunited back with Toshi and Makie at the exit gate of the house. It was finally time to leave the house and start the fight for their survival. They could no longer hide. They could no longer seek help. It was fight or die. Their lives were in their own hands.
"Let's go," Toshi said as he reached his hand out to hold the door knob.
"But, where?" He was interrupted by Makie.
Toshi held back his hand and turned around.
"To Raiden's house," he said.
"We would have gone to your house first but my house is closer and it's about to be night. So, we need a shelter," Raiden explained.
"Yeah, sure. I understand," Makie agreed.
Toshi waited for a second to see if anyone had any other questions. When he got the idea that everyone was ready to leave, he grabbed the doorknob and rotated it. He pushed open the door.
They took their feet outside and exited the house.
Toshi closed the door and they passed out from the fence gate which was outside Toshi's house. They came on the streets. It was empty and silent. No one dared to leave their home except for those 3. It was just them who stood on the cold streets.
The night was about to fall upon them and on the whole city.
Toshi turned around to take a final look at his house. It was the place he grew up and spent his entire life living around. But now, he had to leave that place. Not even knowing when he will be back home.
He remembered the few good memories he spent in that house with his both father and mother.
He was done remembering the old stuff and was finally ready to leave. They all looked at each other firmly and nodded as an indicator that they were not turning back from that point. They were all ready to leave.
They started moving ahead. Their destination was Raiden's house.
They were moving ahead on that silent road but there was one thing that kept on bugging Raiden for a while.
He came closer to Toshi and silently asked him, "We did leave him alone there but, what will he do? Your father."
"He is a Samurai. He would rather die than become one of those things. so, there is only one thing left for him to do."
"Which is?"
"Commit Seppuku."
Toshi's father sat alone in that dark room with a dagger in his hand, which was about to stab through his belly.
