The Flesh-Eating Monsters fell to their death, down the roof, one by one. But, not everyone died as the piled-up corpses became a cushion for the upcoming monsters and they survived the fall. The fallen rose to face Raiden and Makie.
One rushed up towards them to get a taste of the fresh meat.
Makie saw the monster rushing toward them and she lost her cool. She relived the memories of the things she had gone through inside the school building in that instant. Her mind went into a state of panic. She just wanted to leave everything and get away from whatever was happening. She got the adrenaline running down her whole body. And, made a move.
Raiden also saw the upcoming monster and came ahead of Makie in order to take him down. He had lost both Chido and Takeshi, he had unconsciously made up his mind to not let any other friend of his die.
He took the position in front of Makie in order to protect her but he didn't know what awaited him from behind.
A push.
Makie had pushed Raiden towards the upcoming monster.
She didn't know what to do and her instinct to survive made her push Raiden towards the monster as bait and she started running away herself.
Raiden didn't expect it out of anywhere. He lost his grip on the metal bat and stumbled to the ground on his back.
The monster didn't miss the chance to attack Raiden and he jumped on him.
The monster came crawling, clacking his teeth toward Raiden's face. He reached him and was about to embed his teeth into Raiden's face and take a big bite out of it.
Raiden saw him just above his face and he dropped a heartbeat. The monstrous thing was just a few centimeters away from his face. At that instant, he remembered the face of the boy he found laying down by the wall of the Storage Building. 'Am I gonna become just like him?' was the first thing that came to his mind but instantly afterward came another thought. 'No way! I can't die in a place like this! I haven't even seen Hatsuhi's face yet. I am gonna protect Hatsuhi! And, for that, I will do whatever thing I have to do, no matter what!'
Raiden pulled out the wooden sword which he had in his left hand in front of his face. The monster had pushed his teeth onto Raiden's face.
For a second Raiden thought he was a goner but he found out that the wooden sword had gotten stuck in between that monster's teeth.
He held the sword in his left hand and held the tip of the sword in his right hand. The only way the monster couldn't reach Raiden was because the wooden sword had blocked his path. He kept on trying to push through the center of the wooden sword with his teeth. But, he was unable to go any further.
Raiden had stuck his elbows against the ground and the whole weight of that monster stayed on his arms. He tried to hold on to it but he knew he will eventually get tired and lose his grip. He had to do something fast!
On the other hand, the monsters kept on falling from the roof. And, this time mostly everyone was surviving the fall. The dead bodies on the ground had piled up so much that no one was even landing on the ground. The sound of bodies clashing with each other, after the fall, kept on inviting more and more of those monsters to join them down there.
It had become a never stopping rain of the Flesh-Eating Monsters. And, all that happening was so close to where Raiden was pinned down.
All the fallen monsters decided to roam around the area. The empty back area behind the school building started filling with those mindless creatures.
Raiden struggled while he was pinned down on the ground by that monster and he couldn't make a single noise or else every one of those monsters would jump down on him.
He started losing all his strength in his hands but before that, a crack appeared in the center of the wooden sword, where the monster was trying to force his way through.
It was now clear to Raiden that the wooden sword wasn't gonna last long. He had to do something to get out of that situation.
'What should I do? No, rather, what the hell can I even do in this situation? This guy's grip on the sword is insane. But, even more terrifying is his strength. He is not even letting me budge from this position. The only way I am able to lift his weight is because my hands are against the ground so I don't have to use my own force against him. And, it looks like the sword is about to break down too. I don't see a way for me to get out of this situation.'
The crack in the sword became more shallow. It was on the verge of breaking down in two.
The whole backside was filled with monsters. Makie was gone. The rain of the monsters had stopped.
Now, everything in the school came back to silence.
But, then, it happened.
Something had to break the silence once again and, it cracked.
The wooden sword cracked and split in two.
'Oh no!' Raiden saw the crack happen in front of him and saw the monster rushing towards him.
'Is it the end?'
His eyes saw the monster coming towards him. The eyes which seemed like they had finally lost all hopes. The eyes which were full of resolve finally looked like fainting. The eyes which showed sorrow and sadness finally looked emotionless.
But.
'Chido must have seen the exact same thing before dying?'
The same eyes erupted with flames of anger.
Raiden shifted a little to the right side along with the sharp edge of the broken sword.
He held the broken sword vertically in his left hand and put it in the path of the monster.
Even though it was just a wooden sword, now, it had one side of edge sharp due to it getting split into two pieces.
The sharp edge went right past the monster's mouth and came out from behind his back.
Blood came down flowing right over Raiden's face. And, Raiden kept on laying down until he confirmed that the monster on him was finally dead.
All the blood flooded down on his face making his face all soaked in red.
He pushed the monster away along with the broken wooden sword.
As silent as it was in the backside of the school building, the crack of breaking of the sword was heard by the few monsters surrounding him.
After getting a hold of his metal rod, Raiden stood up.
He was surrounded by countless monsters of which some were slowly approaching him.
'I just killed a man.'
That thought emerged in his head.
'That's right. I did.'
The monsters surrounding him kept on approaching him.
'Yeah, that's right. Why only we must suffer?'
Those few monsters had closed down the gap.
'Yeah, come right here. I will show you that you have picked a fight with the wrong person.'
Raiden stood in the center, surrounded by countless monsters. His face was covered in blood with a metal bat in his hand. He awaited those who were approaching him. He awaited eagerly.
'Come right here, you fuckers! I will kill the literal soul out of you all!'
