Melissa swiftly got up from the couch and then held Alexis's hand in her palms. Her sad glassy eyes looked deep into Alexis's emerald green eyes as if they were trying to say something.

And somehow, Alexis knew exactly what her mother's eyes were trying to say to her. "Mom, please, you don't have to worry about me so much. I will be careful not to use the powers that I have in front of others. The authorities will never find out. There is no need to seal them again."

Melissa cupped Alexis's cheeks with her palms and then tried to persuade Alexis to go seal her powers once again. "But what if they find out? What if they find out and take you away? I always fear that the military will barge in our house and then drag you away from me. Wouldn't it be better if you just don't give them that opportunity… if you just close that possibility for good?"
