Cybermancer
Humanity prospered for many years, achieving many advancements in their technologies. Achieving feats like cybernetics, and artificial intelligence, and genetic manipulation.
Only one thing limited there growth. The available resources were not enough to handle the growth. To counter this problem they figured out a way to find new materials. They built machines to cross dimensions.
Many countries sent experts to learn about the worlds on the other side. The explorers were gone for only two hours before only four out of forty-eight people ran back through the portal.
The other side was already populated with intelligent creatures akin to fantasy creatures. They had stepped into the middle of a battle between two such races. One of the groups resembling slender demons followed the survivors.
Their technology was ancient, but they manipulated energy around them to perform magic. Through a tough battle, humanity repelled the invaders, but the damage was done.
There were countless dimensions, and now earth had been exposed. Countless enemies came with terrifying creatures and abilities, or technology that dwarfed humanity's.
But they continued to fight. Refugees fled to this newly found haven, sharing their knowledge in exchange for sanctuary.
With the combined forces of Earth and the dimensional refugees, a war was fought for four decades. Birthing powerful Mancers, people who study and master arcane arts. Or Techs, cybernetic soldiers.
And at last, after many years of conflict, an ally came.
A group known as The Coalition came through a rift gate with powerful weapons. They claimed to be a large alliance of dimensions fighting for peace.
They offered to let them join. An offer that was promptly accepted.
Many of the invading armies were repelled and the earth began to rejoice. At this time, The Coalition turned on their 'allies'.
Caught unprepared, the resilient earth was beaten down. Ruled by the treacherous Coalition, Earth is now a dystopian lands. The only form of resistance being the self proclaimed warlords.
But slowly, the winds of destiny begin to blow, as ancient creatures begin to stir...
....
