The pure elemental energy was her bait. Aisling could also use her blood, but her teacher had forbidden her from doing so. She never disobeyed her teacher's instructions except in dire situations. So far, the elemental energy was enough when luring nature spirits.
"What happened last night?" She asked.
Nature spirits were incorporeal beings formed from the concentration of elemental energy. For instance, an old tree would gather a lot of energy as it grew, and a sort of consciousness would develop from the tree. That consciousness would become a spirit.
Nature spirits could form from any natural feature, including rocks, rivers, mountains and even phenomena like earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
No one knew exactly how nature spirits were formed because the records were few and in between. Moreover, only a few subhumans could come in contact with them.
