I can't promise that

I felt overly tired.

When I woke up, I had a throbbing headache. Lisa had left for school, my aunt's still not around and god knows where uncle Mark's at.

I got ready later than usual. I almost missed the bus and now the first two classes felt like they dragged on forever.

And oh, I haven't seen Chloe since.

I don't know if I should be happy that I haven't heard her cheerful voice, or disturbed because this is the first time I haven't seen her for 3 hours straight.

I'm at my locker getting my books for the next class when suddenly, my locker snaps shut almost getting my hand.

"Ohmygod was your hand there?" She asks innocently. "I didn't notice." She puts a hand on her chest.

The bell rings and everyone leaves for their classes leaving Lisa, her minions, and I alone in the hallway.

"What do you want Lisa?" I ask her.

I'm not really not in the mood for this.

"What do I want?" She asks shocked before she scoffs.

"You really have the nerve to ask what I want." She laughs.

Her minions join in and then suddenly she stops laughing.

"Pathetic." Janet, one of Lisa minions and a very spoilt brat speaks up.

"I'll tell you what I want." She takes a step towards me. "I want you to know your place, I want you to stay out of my way, I want you to know you are a good for nothing worthless crap who has no one who loves her, who is very dumb, and can't seem to know when she's not wanted," She raises her voice with each sentence "And I want you to know that you never walk away from me!!"

So this is what it's about.

"Are you angry I walked inside the house after you insulted me?" I point to myself and I scoff.

I won't lie, all what she just said stung, but it isn't something I'll be hearing for the first time.

"You think you are a better someone, you think you're high and mighty that's why you walked-"

"I didn't even-" Before I could finish my words, she slapped me.

A very loud resounding slap.

"You do not interuppt me when I'm talking!" She shouts.

My hands clench into fists beside me as I turn to look her.

I give her the deadliest glare I could.

"And you do not look at me like that." She raises her hand to slap me again and I close my eyes awaiting it.

But when one, two, three seconds passed without anything, I open my eyes and they widened in surprise.

I see Lisa's raised hand is held by a grey eyed guy who's looking straight into my eyes. He has curly black hair and a vibe I couldn't seem to shake off.

"You can do anything. Shout, curse, insult, but you do not get to hit her." He says dangerously low as he looks at Lisa with a stern look.

To say Lisa's face was shocked would be an understatement.

She looked surprised at the same time, frightened.

"N....no...." She tries to talk but nothing comes out.

"I don't know what she did, I don't want to know, and I don't care," He continues, still holding her hand. "But I really despise people who hit girls."

"I'm also a girl." Finally, Lisa speaks up.

"Yeah. You still don't get to hit her " He roughly drops her hand which made Lisa to take a step back.

"I-"

"Leave." He says with an air of authority before he turns back to stare at me. He puts his hands in his trousers pockets.

She huffs, glares at me, flips her hair, and walks away. Her minions following behind her.

The grey eyed dude doesn't take his eyes off me and I start to get nervous.

"You didn't have to butt in." I speak up.

"Yeah I didn't." He shrugs

"Then why did you?"

"I don't know either." He shrugs again.

"You don't even know me."

"I wouldn't say that." He replies calmly, not taking his eyes off me.

"I don't even know you."

"I wouldn't be surprised." He shrugs.

Something in those set of eyes had a 'mess with me if you dare' vibe.

"You know you could've stood up for yourself. You looked like you were just going to sit the second slap through." He states.

"I'm sure the world would be a better place if everyone stood up for themselves.

"But you could be part of the some who did."

"Pretty sure I don't have that privilege." Confusion takes over and that's the first emotion I see ever since he held Lisa's hand.

"I appreciate what you did back there, but I'd appreciate it more if you don't butt into my business anymore." I say and I start to walk away.

"I'm afraid I can promise that." He says without turning back. "Not after this " He adds and walks towards the opposite direction.
