Around the Monastery of Montserrat there are numerous caves, most of which are located on a so-called Path of the Hermitages, and since excursions are made with groups of mountaineers, there are maps where they are indicated. Many of the caves have small temples or buildings built at different times.

Despite being marked by a sign, the entrance to the Hermitage of the Black Virgin was not easy to find. It was in a cave on the side of the mountain, after a bend in the path, partially covered by bushes that, either by negligence or by express wish, no one bothered to cut.

As soon as they entered the cavern, Lakshmi and Jerome turned on their flashlights. The man made sure to feel for the pistol he carried in a holster on the back of his waist, covered by his jacket.
