Eve closed her eyes for a moment, her fingers absentmindedly scratching her chin as she thought. "That's a great question. Nexus should have some weaknesses… it should. Xia, Ellin, tell me one more time about what you've seen."

They retold the story once again, and it was Celina who said, "—and I remember seeing some zombies carrying other zombies with them. Which is really strange. Zombies usually don't even react to each other!"

Eve frowned. "If we assumed Nexus is the one controlling the entire horde, it might mean that it has some use even for disabled zombies. It can be a programming flaw, too. Either way, it looks like Nexus sees value in every zombie, that's, as you said, bigger than a cat."

"What value there can be in a zombie that can't walk on their own?" Xia asked with a scoff.
