Chapter 64
(Unedited)
…
Although I have some equipment, it seems that I could not figure out a way to connect to the internet from this place. Min Rou who already noticed me decided to help. She stood up and then looks at the equipment on the table.
As everyone is busy meditating in the separate room, Min Rou is not that worried about anything. It seems that she trusted me for some unknown reason.
"These things would not be able to function underground. You have to go out…" she explained.
As if feeling a bit uncomfortable, she suddenly removed some straps on her shoulders and waist then takes off the ghillie suit.
What was exposed in front of my eyes is her young curvy body hugged tightly by her full-body black leather suit. And when I saw her face, I was a bit surprised. This is because; I actually knew who this Min Rou is.
…
Min Rou is one of the most famous school beauties in his old high school. She has both the brain and beauty but is not that famous because she belongs to a normal family just like him. However, Xin Wei had seen her a few many times before in school.
Before he could not recognize her under that ghillie suit, but now that he can clearly see his face, he immediately recognizes who she is.
"So I need to get a longer wire or just go out there…" Xin Wei said as he walks out of the underground bunker.
Meanwhile, Min Rou decided to rest for a while and lay on one of the beds. She closes her eyes and then after a while, she began to dose off.
Meanwhile, the rest of the girls are already absorbing the Qi in the air to replenish their energy. They did not know what would happen next so they are wanted to be ready for anything.
Meanwhile, in the outside world, changes are happening as the animals and the creature began mutating. But unlike in city H where the change is rapidly progressing, the changes in the outside world are minimal.
It was as if city H is the center of everything that is happening in the world.
And so the eyes of the whole world are currently directed in city H and its vicinity. Once in a while people could see giant insects and animals flying roundabout but would not go out within the border of the city and its surrounding forest.
And this has baffled the whole world. Now the military forces of the country have been mobilized to contain this threat and they are now surrounding city H. The other nearby country has also sent their troops to monitor this wide expanse of the area to prevent anything from happening and going out of control.
Everyone knew that if these creatures go out of the city's boundary and enter the world outside, then chaos would surely ensue and no one knew what would happen to the whole world. Plus the people living within city H seem to be stronger than normal humans inside but once they go out, that strength would fade and they too would turn into normal humans.
And this is one of the reasons why those who are living inside city H would not want to leave the city especially those Hunters.
Although the rest of the world has their eyes on this place, everything still returns to normal with only minor anomalies every now and then.
…
I went out of the ruined house's underground and walk up the 2nd floor. The walls are already in rubble and the roof riddled with holes. Yet this place is the perfect camouflage for them to hide from the world outside.
As I began to connect to the internet, I noticed that it really worked. So with this, I began browsing the internet for fighting styles and started learning them.
Techniques, skills, and style of breathing with fighting training, I began to learn them all and absorb them in my mind.
While doing this, I did not notice that it has been 2 hours since I started and my concentration was distracted when I saw a figure walking out from the underground bunker.
The figure seems to be looking for someone, and when she turns her gaze to the second floor, our eyes met.
"Ah… There you are. Big Sister Zhang Wanwan asked me to give you your dinner." Min Rou said as she showed the bowl in her hand.
"She knew that you are doing something, so she asked me to bring this to you…" Min Rou said as she placed the bowl beside the table.
"Thank you…" I said with a nod.
"Hmm… Xin Wei right? I now know who you are… A while ago, I was thinking that I have seen you somewhere before. And after thinking for a while, and learning your name, I soon remember someone from our school that was blamed for the death of our schoolmate, Lin Qiao. You are that Xin Wei, right?" she said with a slight smile.
I just nodded my head to confirm her thought. I did not want to deny nor defend myself.
"At first I actually believe the news… But after everything fell and the chaos in the city ensued. I now knew that everything was a lie… Those people… they are the ones who killed her, right?" she said while turning her gaze at the night sky.
"I know that you are a victim. I have also read about your family. I'm sorry… but in this city. You are not the only one suffering. Many of the people living in this city are living like hell. For me, I lost everything because of the syndicates. My mother, my father, my whole life was lost." She said with a tinge of melancholy.
"I want to avenge them… I can only be at peace when I have killed that monster, Da Bao… He and his group are the ones who killed them. I wanted revenge… Like you do… Will… will you let me join you?" she said but did not look at me.
I noticed some tears coming from her eyes as she tried to hold on to her emotion. I did not expect that she too has the same goal as me.
Well, if I was not too focused on my own problems, I could have already seen that many of the people in this place are actually angry with the syndicates for making their lives miserable. If I was not too absorbed with my own difficulties, I could have seen it and use it to my own advantage.
However, I have no mind to create my own avenging army to get back on those people. I have my own vendetta to follow and I will deliver my own brand of justice with my own hands.
While thinking to this point.
I noticed that Min Rou has already left and the food is on the side of the table.
I ate my dinner that night and continue browsing the net. Until I noticed that the laptop battery is almost drained.
After closing the laptop, I also closed my eyes and then began to arrange the things that I have learned in my head.
From what I have read, I learned the basics of Taekwondo, Karate, Wu Shu, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and Sanda.
According to what I have learned, I could now picture out what I needed to do in my mind and the only thing now is to practice those moves so that I could turn this knowledge into the wisdom which would be more useful for actual use.
As of now, my Intelligence stats have already increased to 20, and this result is good news for me. With the increase of my stats, I could now feel my mind becoming clearer and my flow of thought faster. But I also realized that this actually did not make me more intelligent or wiser than others.
But it just increased the speed of my thought and memory.
With this, I decided to test out what I have learned by going out once again in the forest. I need to find a way to practice what I have learned and turned them into real skills which would be added to my stats.
With excitement in my eyes, I jumped out and left the 2nd floor then directly entered the forest. All I can think of right now is to apply what I have learned so my mind is focused on finding some opponent.
As soon as I entered the forest, I immediately noticed a faint scent.
"Hmm… This scent… This is a scent of human blood…"
I then shifted to the direction where it came from and I knew that in that area, that is where I have fought with those Hunters from before.
However, it seems that because I have not cleaned that place, it has attracted some unnecessary figures. But right now, I could not care less. This is what I was looking for; this is what I wanted to have…
"I guess I have to test out my new moves on them, first," I muttered as I quickly dashed towards the source of that strange scent.
