CHAPTER 17

Deborah and Esther were still dancing, when the cyclops called her,"Deborah "," Yes!",she turns back and sees the cyclops.

"Yes you called", she said.

The cyclops raised the sword up.Showing her,so that she could see it.

" That's Reed's sword",she identified it.

The cyclops then said,giving it to her,"Yes it's his sword.He forgot it outside the castle.So I brought it in.Can you go and give it to him?".

"Sure", she holds the sword," I'll give it to him. Where is he?",she asked,holding the sword well,while Esther was looking at it,trying to figure out something.

"He's in his room.Go quickly!"," OK"she said.

She was about to leave,when Esther said suspiciously, "I thought this sword was with him this morning.So how did it end up outside?", she asked the cyclops, who couldn't give an answer.

" How an I supposed to know"he said,walking away.

Deborah chuckled and said,"I think he's afraid of you","Very funny.You go and give Reed his sword,and I'll go and eat.Am starving ",she waves at Deborah and rushes off.

Deborah began walking to Reed's room,looking happy," At least I'll be able to see him,and thank him for today",she smiles.

Meanwhile, Reed was standing close to the window,looking at the sky.

He remembered what happened to him earlier, and how Deborah saved him.

Thinking about it,made him smile every time.

He remembered when she grabbed him close,when he was falling,and wrapped her arms around him tightly.

A lovely smiled appeared on his face,when he remembered that he had also wrapped his arms around her,and squeezed her closer to him, tightly.

His heart began to race again,as he wished for a tight embrace like that again.

KNOCK

"Come in", he said,still dreaming about Deborah,who was at his door already.

Deborah opened the door and walked in slowly.

She saw him standing near the window, looking like someone,who's lost in his thought.

She cleared her throat,dragging his attention immediately.

He turned and saw her looking at him with a smile.

All of a sudden,he began to feel strange within him.

" You..you forgot your sword outside",she said,walking towards him,to hand it over.

She brought forth the sword,so that he'll take it from her.But his mind was on her,and not the sword.

Deborah wondered why he wasn't taking the sword from her.She looked at him,and saw him staring at her.

"Why's he staring at me like that?.Oh no!,did he find out about the statue?", she panicked within her.

So as to be sure,she said again," You forgot your sword outside the castle "," Why?","Why what?",fear gripped her.

"Am doomed,he's talking about the statue", she thought,feeling her body turning hot.

Just then,Blue came in,walking majestically. He heard the word 'why',and stopped,and wondered why his master was asking Deborah that question.

Deborah on the other hand,couldn't say a word.She was beginning to sweat suddenly.

She smiled at Reed and said,dropping the sword on the bed,and walking back slowly," I just remembered, I forgot my own sword outside. So..I have to get it.We can talk about why later,OK?,OK bye"she turns to leave quickly.

When suddenly, the door closed, "Oh dear!", she panicked out loud.

She felt her hand being held,and she was pulled back immediately.

She found herself in Reed's arm.He wrapped his arms around her,and looked into her eyes.

She couldn't help but stare into his own eyes too.

Until she heard him say," Why?".

Deborah blinked and chuckled,then she said,"I'll tell you why".

She looks at her side,and saw Blue,looking at her.

She managed to point at him and said to Reed,"You see that pet of yours over there,he did it".

Immediately she said that,Blue got up quickly and raced to the door.

"He broke your statue's head and ran away in a flash.I admit that I was playing with him,but..."," Am not talking about my statue.I want to know why you saved me today".

Silent.

Deborah looked at him,then turns her face away.

Blue on the other hand,didn't feel like running away,since the matter was different.

Reed observed Deborah. Seeing that she wasn't answering.

Then,he repeated the question again,"Why did you save me today?".

She sighs and turns her face back to him,"It's what friends do".

"Friends?",astonished.Reed asked,releasing her from his grip.

Deborah planted a little smile on her face, and asked," What happened?, Don't believe me?".

He was astonished by her answer.

"Friends don't treat another friend like a prisoner. So how am I your friend?", he asked.

Deborah folds her arm and said," Do you think that you've been treating me like a prisoner? ".

She shooks her head and said," No,not at all.Infact.."

She walks towards the window,while he was looking at her,"..I feel so happy to be here.I feel free in this castle.Things that I've always dreamt of doing,I can do them now",she smiles happily.

"Fighting side by side with you and your army,Making so many friends..., all that happened here".

Then she became dull," If I've ever felt like a prisoner, then,it's in the hands of my people".

Reed kept on looking and listening to her.

Deborah's eyes dripped with tears,which she quickly cleaned up,and said,"My own people hate me,because they feel that my grandfather was a threat to them.So...that makes me a threat to them as well".

She sighs.

Reed could understand her pain.

Everything she said,made him to know that she had suffered in the hands of the people, because of him.

Deborah chuckled and decided to change the topic,"OK let's put that aside".

She turns back to look at Reed.

Then she remembered the red stone, and decided to question him,"I never knew that you had another weakness, apart from the book.How's that possible? ".

Now,his mind was on the stone," I forgot about it",he thought to himself.

Deborah was waiting for an answer,but he refused to speak up.

"Pls tell me.My grandfather only made the book your weakness. So...how did the.."," Because John created the stone as well,to weaken me",he interrupts her,and tells her.

Gasped.

Deborah hummed and said to herself in a low tone of voice,"It seems to me that someone had been misbehaving, that's why?".

"Did you say anything?"," Huh?!,no!",she lied,smiling at him.

Reed picks up his sword and said to her,checking it,"Listen,Only the both of us know about my weakness. So don't let anybody know","OK then",she agreed.

Deborah decided to leave the room,when she heard Reed said,"Thank you".

Immediately, her heart began to beat fast.

A smile appeared on her face,with a blush too.

She turned back and also said to him,"Thank you too".

Reed kept on looking at his sword,like a serious person.

But on hearing the words Thank you,a smile appeared on his face as well.

Deborah turned to leave,still blushing happily.

She haven't even stepped out of the room,when Reed's mind,went to what she said before.

The smile on his face quickly vanished, as he turns his face to Deborah's side,and asks her in an astonished way,"What did you say happened to my statue?".

BOOM!

It sounded like a bomb to both Deborah and Blue's ears.Deborah quickly ran away,followed by Blue,who didn't wait for a second.

Later, Esther and Deborah were busy discussing about their own group,and how they'll do everything.

They were busy with their planning,when they heard Lucy's voice.

She was shouting at the top of her voice,"One,two,three,Go!".

"Looks like the chicken has begun", Esther mocked.

The way she was shouting, attracted the monsters and Reed,who was just passing,to come and check what was going on.

They entered the room,almost all of them,and saw Lucy and the girls singing and dancing.

The prince also came along to see what was going on.

Reed came inside,and saw them dancing. He wondered why they were dancing.

" What's going on here?",he asked.

Lucy heard his voice,and began to scream within her.

She turned to his direction and said,proudly,"We heard that you were throwing a party tomorrow night.So we thought of a way to make it interesting. By singing and dancing ",she places both hands on her waists.

Looking at Reed,face to face.

Reed scoffed and looked at his monsters,who wanted to laugh as well.

Then he looks back at Lucy and said," So you want to entertain us,right?","Yes!".

"Fine then.Good luck", he said,walking out of the room.

All the monsters kept on watching the dance,and they were laughing.

The prince also walked out of the room, and was heading back to the monster chamber,when he spotted Reed and the cyclops talking in front of him.

He became annoyed on seeing Reed.Everything about him just made him angry.

He decided to follow another way,when he saw Deborah and Esther at a corner, discussing.

He became happy on seeing them,and called out," Deborah! ".

Deborah heard her name,and looked to see who was that.

She saw the prince,and waved at him.

When he called out her name,Reed,who was talking to the Cyclops,felt his heart skip,on hearing her name.

He turned back,and saw the prince,walking towards her.

" You can go.We'll talk later",he said to the cyclops,who left to go and watch Lucy and her friends.

Reed stood by,watching and listening to their conversation.

"How are you?"," Fine",Deborah replied.

Esther greeted, and he answered with a smile.

"Lucy and the others are busy planning a dance group. Why didn't you guys join them?", he asked.

This question made Reed so eager to know why she wasn't among the others.

Deborah didn't know what to say.

She didn't want to tell the prince what was going on yet.

She looks at Esther,who looks back at her and said,looking back at the prince," Well..,we're not in the mood.We don't feel like it","Yeah!,don't feel like it",Deborah added,acting as if they weren't interested.

"That's bad.It would have been good to see the both of you sing and dance too", the prince said,looking unhappy.

Reed too began to feel unhappy," I'll have to agree with this Fool.Deborah supposed to join Lucy's group".

"I would have loved to see her dance", he kept on looking.

The prince then said to Deborah, taking hold of her hand,"I think you should join Lucy's group"," No..there's no need",she said.

Esther too also said the same thing,trying to make the prince understand.

The prince decided not to pressure them on the matter,then he said,still holding Deborah's hand,"OK then. Do what you feel its right","Thanks".

They both smiled at each other.

If only the prince could turn back and see Reed,standing at a corner, filled with anger,on seeing his hands with Deborah's own,he would have released her hand immediately.

Reed didn't like the way the prince was holding Deborah's hand.

He was angry.

He came out from where he was standing, walked up to them,and said,"What's going on here?".

On hearing his voice,Deborah quickly removed her hand from the Prince's hand,and looks at Reed.

The prince became angry,on hearing his voice, "What's wrong with this monster?.Why does he always interfere in everything I do?", he questioned himself within.

The prince also turned to look at Reed,with an angry expression.

Reed too looked back at him with an angry expression. Wishing he could blast his face the second time.

This time,the blast would put him to sleep for a long time.
