From what he read these are plant-type danger beasts of grade 2. They are plants that attack any living being which is using chakra in his vicinity and strangle and inject poison in the being.

Their poison is nonlethal and only influences the mind a little and made it groggy.

But the difficulties were not only these. Suddenly a wolf appeared before them, the wolf is high grade 3 class danger beast which uses their chakra internally to make their body strong.

Two purple scalpels were formed on Orochimaru's arms and he used to spin and cut the tentacle which lashed in his direction and finally he landed in the water again and started sprinting to catch up with the examiner.

He also noticed that there were many remarkable candidates. They were able to escape the tentacles in a short amount of time.
