Steffon Baratheon, Stannis's elder son, had always liked Jasmine since they were young and wanted nothing more than marrying her if he had a chance.
But because of Jasmine's situation when she was young, he did not have the opportunity to get close to her, let alone play or talk to her. So he continued to only look from behind without saying a word to her. It was only in the past few years when Jasmine started opening up to the others that he could finally exchange some words with her.
When he saw her situation and her possible death if no one interfered, he risked everything with his dragon, Windclaw, to save the girl. Even Edward did not have the time to observe the situation when his youngest daughter was about to die since he got occupied with a fucking monster, but Steffon did.
Steffon, whose dragon was even younger than Stormshadow, and his own situation was much direr than Jasmine, was still paying attention to his cousin that he loved from deep in his heart.
When he saw that she was in danger and he would lose her, he asked Windclaw to leave the dead dragon that he was facing already and attack the one that attacked Jasmine from behind, trying to prevent her death.
Although his action was admirable, its results were disastrous for him and his dragon since he risked his life. Although he managed to distract the dragon's attack, heading for Jasmine's head, his action made his back wide open to the other dead dragon.
In the end, he got surrounded from the front and back and could not fight any longer since his dragon was the smallest in the group, and even with Jasmine's cry and her help, Windshadow got ripped apart in the end.
Not only had Windshadow gotten ripped apart, but Steffon, who was riding it and fighting with his bow, got his chest ripped open by one of the dead dragon's claws.
This scene horrified everyone on the battlefield, especially the little Jasmine since she thought she was the reason for his death. And the emotionless Stannis finally lost it and cried hard for his son while still fending off the dead dragon he was facing.
"Steffon, please wake up...." Shouted Jasmine while crying hard as she followed behind Steffon and his dead dragon after falling down.
But Jasmine was truly an idiot for doing that because even if she wanted to mourn her cousin's death, she should not be doing that in the middle of a battle with dragons flying everywhere. She would die if she got distracted even for a moment, lat alone descending from the sky.
The dead dragon that killed Steffon was about to use his breath to burn Jasmine and her cousin's corpse, but the help arrived at that critical moment, and everyone finally interfered.
And Stannis, who was angry and his rage took over his body, managed to destroy one of the dead dragons. His dragon, Firestorm, was a red dragon that was moody and always restrained its actions because of Stannis.
But after Stannis lost it, the dragon let out a cry that represented its rider's feeling or sorrow before going all out, taking a dead dragon down while injuring itself doing that.
Lyonel, who had been close to Jasmine's battle, also followed up and attacked the dragon, preventing it from attacking Jasmine. But he soon got engaged with two dead dragons, making it difficult for him to hold on if Jasmine stayed on the ground like that.
"Jasmine, come here and give me some help. I won't be able to hold any longer." Shouted Lyonel as loudly as he could since the situation was turning bad for him.
Jasmine, who heard her brother's words, finally stood up while still crying since she did not experience something like that since her mother attacked her that year.
Jasmine did not forget to tell Stormshadow to bring her cousin's dead corpse with them since the boy died while trying to protect her. It was the last thing that she could do for Steffon, who died for her. And With Jasmine's help, Lyonel and Jasmine finally managed to hold on and fight back.
As for Stannis, who was already enraged by his son's death, he turned to fight the dead dragon that attacked his son from behind, not caring about his injuries or Firestorm. Even if he managed to take another dead dragon, he would die trying to do that.
After seeing that scene, Edward was already enraged as well. His nephew died while trying to save his daughter, who was about to die. First, he made sure that commander Mormont retreated south before turning to his children and Stannis.
This fight would not end here since their side was on the losing end. Plus, the Night King was not the one who would fall easily in this attack. If they continued, they were going to lose more and more.
"Everyone, start to retreat, NOW." Said Edward with a loud voice as he turned to the rest. Stannis had finally woken up from the state he was in, and his anger and rage turned into sadness, and if the fight continued, he would die here.
After hearing Edward's words, his children nodded their heads and retreated a little by little, but the problem was the Night King. It seemed that the Night King saw that this was his best chance to add more dragons and fighters to his side and did not want to miss it.
But before he could do that and resurrect Windclaw, Edward asked Gēlion to burn her brother's body. As for Steffon, he got protected thanks to the rituals since he was close to Edward.
After seeing that his plan got foiled again, the Night King made a cracking sound before a spear appeared in his hands. Before Edward could even prepare to defend, the treacherous Night King seemed to realize that Edward's weakness was the young girl from before and throw the spear at Jasmine and her dragon, Stormshadow.
"Jasmine!!!!" Edward could not help but shout out loud after seeing the smile on the Night King's face before throwing out the spear.
At this time, Jasmine was still fighting a dead dragon while retreating with her brother, Lyonel, by her side. Jasmine did not see the Night King's move, but her brother did.
Jasmine was the only one of Edward's children that all of them liked without having another opinion about her and would die protecting her. Maybe, only Raymont thought she was too close to Edward, but he still loved her.
