The door was locked. Evangeline tried to pick the lock, but her attempt was in vain. In desperation, she began to scream, hoping that someone would hear her. However, she soon remembered that she was in the middle of nowhere. No matter how loud her screams were, no one would come to her aid. A few minutes later, Evangeline noticed that the door was beginning to open. Someone was trying to get in.
"I'm sorry, it looks like the door got stuck. That's why you couldn't open it. I've fixed it." Said the gangly man. His voice was so thin he seemed to always be whispering.
Evangeline didn't utter a word.
"Dinner will be ready in a few minutes. We'll wait for you in the dining room. It's on the first floor." Said the young man before retreating.
