Path To Growth

I woke up under an unfamiliar roof…

'Always wanted to say that'

Xander enjoys his new life with a new eye

As he looks around he examines his room 'you never miss depth perception till you lose it and then gain it back'

Xander gets up and notices he is much shorter than he should be. He moves towards a mirror and "am I ten?"

[Yes boss] a raspy voice responds to him

Surprised, Xander takes a moment before responding "Scarlet?"

[Is that my name?] The voice speaks back

"Well you are based on her so… yeah. From now on you are scarlet"

[Thanks boss, I like it]

"You're welcome scarlet" Xander then moved to dress himself "any idea where and who I am?"

[Would you like me to initiate memory injection?]

"What is that?"

[It is a function that allows you to receive the memories of the time you skipped till now, in this case it is ten years of life and around seven of consciousness]

"Is it safe?" Xander asks warily as he doesn't want to lose himself into the memories

[Gamer Mind will protect you from any side effects]

"Ok then, initiate it"

[You got it boss]

Xander suddenly felt like he lived the past ten years, but not really. It's like living a life time in a minute. What was more interesting to him was where he is.

"I'm in history's strongest disciple Kenichi" Xander then took a deep breath and looked at the mirror again "and I'm…"

"COOL"

---

"Good Morning m-m-mom, Dad" Xander is not used to the niceties of having parents yet thus the stutter

"Good morning Kenichi/Son" his parents respond merrily

"Nii-Saaaan" Kenichi hears just as a seven year old missile hits him and nocks him to the ground

"Honoka, don't do that, what if your brother gets realy hurt" their mother admonished her

"Sorry" she was not sorry

"its fine mom, I'm ok"

*Ding*

[High Physical Resistance_3(45%)] (Passive)

Increase Physical defence by 0.5% per level of this skill, against enemies of the same level.

- Reduce all physical Damage taken by 11.5%

- The reduction is doubled against enemies at half your level

- The reduction is halved against enemies at twice your level

- The reduction is calculated after the damage is reduced by natural defence

---

'Probably this high because of all the beating I took from my previous life' Xander thought correctly

Xander then looked at his stats and found that he lost 3 health points, which is a lot, considering that ten of these tackles will kill him.

"Kenichi, Honoka, it's time for breakfast" his mom called them to eat, causing Xander to snap out of it

---

After breakfast Xander went to his room and decided to find a few things out "Scarlet"

[Yes boss]

"Can you tell me more about my stats?"

[Sure thing boss, what would you like to know?]

"Let's start with the Body"

[Body]

- It represents your physique as strength, speed and flexibility

- It's points can be gained through physical exercise

- Health is x10 the amount of points in your Body stat and x1 in health/minute regeneration excluding skills

- Physical defence is equal to x1 your Body stat excluding skills

- An average adult will have 10 as a body stat though it will be less effective on them due to them lacking [Gamer Body] skill

---

"Ok, Mind"

[Mind]

- It represents your mentality as Intelligence, Wisdom, Recall and Charm

- It's points can be gained through mental exercise

- Each point in Mind Stat will grant bonus 1% on skill exp gain excluding skills

- Mental defence is equal to x1 your Mind stat excluding skills

- An average adult will have 10 as a Mind stat though it will be less effective on them due to them lacking [Gamer Mind] skill

---

"And finally Spirit"

[Spirit]

- It represents your soul as Magical or Martial energy, luck and spiritual connections

- It's points can be gained through Magical exercise

- Mana is x10 the amount of points in your Body stat and x1 in Mana/minute regeneration excluding skills

- Magical defence is equal to x1 your spirit stat excluding skills

- An average adult will have 10 as a spirit stat though it will be less effective on them due to them lacking Mana

---

Xander was processing the information for a while "Wow, ok" Xander then got up and went to his desk. He pulled out a pencil and a note book and started drawing…

He was shit at it but after an hour

*Ding*

[Basic Drawing _1 (5%)]

You can draw stickmen… maybe

---

"…"

[…]

"This will take longer than I thought"

[You can do it boss]

"Thanks scarlet" Xander smiled as he stretched himself "it's nice having you with me"

[My pleasure]

And so Xander spent the rest of the day drawing, which got him to

[Basic Drawing _3(10%)]

*Sigh* "I know they say Rome wasn't built in a day but damn"

[May I suggest something boss?]

"Sure" Xander shrugged "go ahead"

[Why not ask the System for a daily quest concerning drawing and maybe excessing?]

Xander felt like an idiot, and judging by the mind stat he was "Damn it why didn't I think of that, thank you Scarlet, I don't know what I would do without you"

[Fail miserably and die?]

"Probably"

They shared a laugh about it and Xander decided to call it a day. As it was summer, he would have the entirety of tomorrow to try stuff out with the quest.

---

The next day came and Kenichi had his breakfast with his family and then ran back to his room. His family was not concerned as it was the normal behaviour of Kenichi.

"Ok, do I ask for an increase in my drawing ability or for a quest for drawing every day?" Xander asked his favourite A.I

[I advise you to go with the daily quest as you are currently lacking in power and may not be able to fulfil the quest]

"True, alright, please give me a daily quest for drawing"

*Ding*

[Daily Quest: Draw me like your French girls]

Spend the minimum of two hours drawing the same thing over and over again

Reward: 10% increase to [Drawing] skill at the end of each exercise, 1xp and 1yen per hour

Bonus: if this is done continuously for the rest of the summer, gain +10 levels on [Drawing] skill

---

Taking a moment to read and reread the entire thing Xander asked "Scarlet, can you tell me how skills work"

[Sure thing Boss]

[Granted Skills]

These are skills gained through another being's interference. These skills cannot be raised or changed. The being that granted them cannot remove them without your permission.

[Gained Skills]

These are skills that you acquired through certain actions. These skills have five stages and each stage has levels.

Basic has 10 levels

Intermediate has 20 levels

High has 30 levels

Master Has 40 level

Grand master has 50 levels

Each level in the same stage require the same amount of experience to level up, but each stage requires double the experience of the previous one.

[Special skills]

These are skills that are gained through special means and have specific growth style i.e. Sharingan, Quirks etc.

---

Xander furrowed his brows in thought "For some reason, I feel that I should have more than high physical resistance with all the hits I got"

[Maybe it is calculated based on how a normal body would receive the buff?]

"You don't know?" Xander asked, confused

[I know a lot, just not everything]

"Understandable. Let's train drawing for now, exercise later"

---

*two hours later*

[Level up]

"Huh?!"

[Congratulations on your first level]

Confused Xander responded with a question "but I only got like 2 exp, how did I level up?"

[Here, this should help]

[Experience and level]

To level up, you need experience equal to your level to the power of 2. This means to move from level 1 to level 2 you need 1x1= 1 exp to move from level 3 to level 4 you need 3x3= 9 exp and to move from level 66 to 67 you need 66x66= 4354 exp.

Enemies grant exp equal to their level when defeated.

---

"So I need three more experience to level up and get to level 3?"

[Basically, yeah]

"Cool, let's do it today, but first, stats"

Stats]

Name: Kenichi

Title: unsung hero

Level: 2 (25%)

Health: 30

Mana: 250

Body: 3

Mind: 6

Spirit: 25

Unassigned points: 3

"Should I assign them or leave them hanging there? What do you think Scarlet?"

[I don't know, actually. You can put them in something you don't plan to train in to cover your weakness or in something you will train to become even stronger]

After about an hour of thought Xander made a decision "I'm investing into mind. It gives me more exp on all skills, meaning I will learn everything faster and higher level skills means faster growth… I think"

[Mind: 6 → 9]

"Now let's draw"

More info about the simplified gamer system.

I like things this simple, don't you?

Peace
