Kaiden's First Mate (Part Two)

Emily tightened her hold around Kaiden as she let him speak his heart out, all his pain, sufferings, and insecurities.

"Every time you were in danger, it reminded me of Elisa and how I was unable to save her. I kept questioning myself whether I deserved you or not after failing Elisa, whether I'll be able to protect you or not." Kaiden confessed as he recalled those memories from six years ago.

Emily once again pulled away from the hug to look into his eyes as she spoke, "And I'm happy that you were brave enough to accept me and fight your insecurities. Thank you for not giving up on me." And she meant it. She was really thankful that he fought with every negative emotion and ended up winning.

"Angel, do you think I'm not a capable mate? Do you think I deserve you?" He genuinely seemed hesitant about her answer as he asked those questions and it only broke Emily's heart.
