Harleen

Supergirl:

"Flash," I say, waving at him as the Batmobile pulls up beside him. Opening the window, the man points to the backseat.

"Sorry," he says, "But Kara already got shotgun."

Flash jumps into the back, the man closes the window and drives.

As we drive, Barry starts to scream as he kicks the chairs.

"Sorry," Barry says, "But there's not a whole lot of room back here. You know, I've never actually sat in the Batmobile before. This is my first time."

"Congrats Speedy," the man replies, speeding through an intersection.

"Where are we going," I ask, looking outside to see one abandoned building after the other. "You mentioned something about Harleen's base.

"I have a question too," Barry says, still trying to get comfortable. "What happened to all these One Earth soldiers and tanks from before? Did you manage to outrun them?"

"Okay, we're not doing the whole 'trading questions' thing anymore so please, Flash, shut up. Kara, Harleen's base is located deep within Gotham's sewer. We need to first enter through a canal in order to reach it. Barry, while I do this, you need to call Hal."

"Call him," Barry repeats, "Why?"

"Because I really want to know how his day is going," the man answers. "What else? It's not like there's something big about to happen and we need him in Harleen's base. Oh no, I just want to have a talk with him. I want to ask him what his favorite color is and how he likes his morning coffee.

"Okay, okay, okay," Barry says, pulling from his pocket what looks like a radio. "I'm calling him. I'm calling him. While I do this, I still want to know about the tanks and soldiers from before. What happened to them? Did you actually manage to outrun them, or did you and Supergirl fight them all?

"Kara didn't fight anyone," the man answers, "By the time she woke up, I had already defeated them. I told them to either go away or get beaten up. They didn't go away."

"You took down all those soldiers," Barry says, "By yourself? Alone? How?"

"I know kung-fu. Listen, as much as I would like to go on and on with this pointless conversation, we still have a long list of to-do, starting with, once again, calling Green Lantern and telling him to meet us at Harleen's base. Do not make me use kung-fu on you."

Barry vibrates his hand, and both his hand and the radio turn into blurs. A few seconds later, a familiar voice can be heard speaking through the radio.

"Flash," Hal screams, Barry's hand stopping. "It's Hal. What's going on? Is this about the invasion?"

"No, it's not," Barry replies, "There's nothing about the invasion yet. At least, nothing I've heard. Listen, I'm calling you is because there's someone who said you need to be at Harleen's base soon."

"Harleen's base," Hal repeats, "Why? And what do you mean by there's someone who said I need to be there? Is there someone there with you? Who is it?"

"I always hated the 20 questions game," the man whispers before turning to Barry. "Hey. Listen up you. Just be in Harleen's base in about an hour. Over and out."

"Wait," Hal screams. "Who was that?"

"Over and out," the man says again, waving his hands. A second later, the radio turns off. "How annoying with all the non-stop questions. Anyway, we have a long list of to-do and I am happy to say that one is done with. Now, if we continue at this rate, we should be done with the next hundred or so by, oh let's said, dinner of two months from now. We're here. Hold on."

The man turning off a bridge, we crashes through the railing and fall into an almost empty canal, little drops of water hitting the window. Once down, the man steps on the gas and launches forward.

"Here we are," he says, stopping at a brick wall. The window opening, the man jumps out and walks over to a small pipe with water leaking out of it. Crouching down, he reachs into the pipe and move around for a bit. I want to ask what he's doing but before I can, the brick wall besides the Batmobile opens, revealing a hidden pathway.

Jumping back into the driver's seat, the man turns into the hidden pathway, the brick wall closing up seconds later and leaving us in total darkness.

"Ouch," Barry screams for some reason. "What? Did someone just punch me?"

"You can't prove that," the man says, "We're in the dark, and you can't see anything. Now shut up and wait for it."

"Wait for what," I ask.

"Whatever trap Harleen set up," the man answers.

As if on cue, bright lights turn on and blind all three of us. Screaming and shielding myself with my hands, I adjust to the lights just in time to see something moving above us. The thing, whatever it is, starts pouring something white and slimy onto the Batmoblie.

"What is this," I yell, the thing covering the window.

"It's quick-drying cement," Barry screams, jumping out of the backseat and pushing against the window. It's trapping us inside. Harleen. Harleen! Can you hear me? It's me! Flash! Stop this!"

"I doubt she can hear you," the man says, pushing some buttons on the dashboard. "The window is not budging. The cement is already dried. It's jamming it."

"What do we do," I ask.

"Quick. Kara, use your laser visions here. And please be careful. Remeber, this isn't our."

Pointing at the window, the man draws a circle. Using my laser visions, I cut out a small circle in the window. A glass circle dropping, the man catches it and places it down. He then puts his hand through the circle and against the harden cement.

"Hey," Barry says, looking at the cement. "What's going on?"

Bright-yellow cracks start to form all over the cement, their glows glowing brighter and brighter and until finally, the whole thing shatters and break apart, the Batmobile shaking uncontrollably as the rocks and stones fly everywhere.

The Man:

The seconds they can, I open the window and jump out, kuani in my hands. Preparing to throw them at anything, I reconsider it when I hear barking. Putting the kunai back in my jacket, I jump back into the Batmobile.

"What are you doing now," Flash screams, grabbing my shoulder. Shaking him off, I point at a pair of vicious, brown-and-black dogs running out from the shadow. They run right up to the side of the Batmoblie, where they scream and snarls.

"Hey," I scream, pointing at the stupid pair of mutts. "Knock it off. Knock it off now! Knock it off or I'll do something I don't want to do!"

Sensing Flash and Kara looking at me, I turn to face them.

"I don't like animal cruelty but every now and then, I have that one or two annoying guard dogs that want a piece of me. Literally, a piece of me."

I reach for a stun gun in my pockets, but Barry grabs my shoulder once more.

"Hold on," he says, "Don't use whatever it is you're reaching for. Let me talk to Harleen first."

Standing up, Flash looks up at the lights.

"Harleen," Flash starts, pulling off his mask. "Please stop. It's me. Barry."

"Oh really," a voice asks. The source of it is hard to pinpoint exactly since it seems to be echoing all over. "Are you really Barry, or did Superman finally get to you? And if it really is you, then how did you get the Batmobile? Is Batman with you, do you have a spare key? Answer the questions Flash!"

"Harleen. It's really me. Look at me. No wires. No One Earth soldiers. No regimes."

"No regimes uh? Then why is Supergirl there? And who's that weirdo with the glasses?"

"They're sunglasses," I whisper. "Sunglasses."

"The man with the glasses saved Supergirl from Stryker's Island, and neither of them, or myself, have been turned. Come on Harleen, if I've been turn, do you really think I'd just be standing here talking? I would take you down even before you could push the button for your cement trap."

Besides the loud and very annoying barking of the darn dogs, there is complete silence in the base.

"Down boys," Harleen says after a while. "They're with us. Or at least, I think they are."

The bright lights dimming down, the three of us find ourselves in what looks like the inside of a circus tent. The walls are dark yet colorful stripped red and yellow, and there are lousy circus assortments everywhere; bright spotlights attached to two long poles, seating areas surrounding a ring in the center, and even a cannon.

"Barry," Harleen says from the top of one of the poles. Chewing some bubble gums and swinging her legs up and down, she then jumps right off. Landing in a net, she climbs down. "I am so happy to see you! And you brought guests. Blondie, long time no see."

Harleen hugging Kara while she still sitting in the Batmoblie, she finally lets go. Now, getting out of the Batmoblie himself, Harleen immediately hugs Flash.

"Well, I'll be darn," she starts, still hugging Flash. "I had my doubt on whether or not I would actually see Blondie again, but here she is. Standing right before me! You know how Supe is about his little cousin. How did you rescue her? And who are you?"

"Not important," I say, "But I have important news that I must tell you and the other Insurgent members."

I look around for a bit, and notice the empty seating areas, the empty performing platform, and the whole entire empty base. I turn to look at Harleen.

"None of the other members are here, are they?"

"No," Harleen answers, shaking her head. "Oliver and Dinah are in Starling City with Jamie. Jason and Stein are in Hub City. Selina is out trying to figure out what the hel-."

I cough into my fist and cut Harleen off.

"Pardon me," I say, putting up my hand. "Tickle in my throat. Anyhow, I didn't ask for their life stories, I just ask if any of them are here. The simple answer is no."

Thinking it over, I look at Flash.

"Flash, Harleen will tell you where the others are and you'll need to pick them up. Come on, we need to move now if you're going to stop Superman from finishing and testing the Watchtower on Gotham City."

"Wait," Flash screams. "What?"

"Oh for Pete's sake," I say, "Okay. I'll say it slower and louder this time. Harleen will tell you where the others are so you can go and pick them up before Superman finishes building the Watchtower and using its binary fusion cannon on Gotham. Do you understand? Nod if you do."

Merry late Christmas everyone! Enjoy this present and also have a Happy New Year!
