Giving thanks

Parallel was an invention of remarkable convenience. There was a light bulb in front of every building and every store. Once the light goes off, it means that there was no one in the building and when the light comes on, it means that the owner has returned and is now in residence.

As for the owners of the building, not only could they check the number of people that came by their store, they could control the light at will providing ultimate privacy.
