Waking up

A young man woke up in a bed and looked around, he frowned at the unfamiliar environment, and the door to the room he was in opened. A little girl walked in and said "Oh! Big brother you're awake!" the young man said "Who are you?" the little girl said "My name is Rika!" the young man nodded and said "Do you know who I am? Are we siblings? Where am I?" the little girl blinked and said "You don't know who you are?" the young man shook his head and stood up, he looked at his clothes and noticed he had swimming shorts, and a waist-length kimono, with gear patterns on it. He looked to the side of his feet and saw sandals, assuming they were his, he slipped them on and walked out of the room, while Rika followed him.

He walked down the stairs and found himself in a bar, the woman behind the bar looked in his direction and said "You're awake!" the young man turned to the woman and said "Hello, who are you?" the woman smiled and said "I'm Riruka, Rika's mother, nice to meet you." the young man nodded and said "Do you know who I am?" Riruka blinked and said "No, you don't remember?" the young man shook his head, Riruka seemed to feel bad and said "You collapsed in front of my bar, with only a piece of paper in your hand and a small bag, so I brought you in and put your bag in the room you were in." the young man nodded and said "Do you have this paper?" Riruka pulled a paper out of her pocket and gave it to him.

He read the note and was silent before throwing the paper in the garbage, he gave a slight bow and said "My name is Viper, I would like to work here since you took care of me." Riruka smiled and said "Nice to meet you Viper, and sure." Viper said "May I use the room I was in to sleep?" she smiled and nodded, he stood up and walked back up the stairs and went to the bathroom.

Viper looked at himself in the mirror and noticed his hair went from red at the roots, before continuing into orange midway, and dark green at the ends, he felt annoyed and amused for some reason, before getting a severe headache and deciding not to think about it anymore.

Viper walked back to his room, and opened the bag on the table near his bed. He found a Devil fruit inside and a note, the note said "Eat this." Viper sighed and took a good look at the fruit, it was a banana that had the same colors as his hair, he felt it was strangely familiar and if he ate it right here, he might break the house, he put the fruit back into the bag, and walked downstairs. He said to Riruka and Rika "I'm going to go outside for a moment, i'll be right back." Rika ran over and said "Can I come with you?" Viper smiled and said "Are you scared of monsters?" Rika shook her head and said "Nope, I have you." Viper blinked and said "But you just met me, how do you know I'm not going to eat you?" Rika giggled and said "Because you're not a mean person big brother!" Viper picked her up and put her on his shoulders before he walked out.

Viper was standing in the forest and said to Rika, while holding the Devil Fruit in his hand "This is called a Devil fruit, It could do anything, I might even turn into a giant monster! Are you afraid?" Rika shook her head and said "You'll be a nice monster" Viper smiled and took a bite out of the fruit and said "Let's hope." he swallowed and almost gagged "That was horrible!" He dropped the fruit and his body started to change, his legs and arms merged into his body, his head turned into a snake head and sprouted big multi-colored feathers on his head, while smaller single colored feathers covered the rest of his body, and on his tail were big green feathers in the shape of a fan, he was huge.

Rika was shocked and just stared at Viper, he looked at her and moved his head closer to her body, she backed away a bit. Viper sighed and was about to take his head back when Rika stretched out her hand and petted his snout, he sneezed, causing Rika to fall over, he said "Ah sorry Rika!" she sat back up and started laughing, Viper tilted his head in confusion and Rika said "You're so pretty Viper!" he smiled and licked her face with his snake tongue, causing her to laugh. Viper put his head on the ground and said "Let's go for a ride!" Rika cheered and climbed on to his neck and poked her head through the feathers sticking out of his head so she could see, as Viper slithered his way through the forest at a moderate pace. Rika was screaming and cheering happily and Viper smiled.

They returned to the bar, Viper changed back and had Rika on her shoulders as he said "Rika you can't tell your mom, or she'll make me leave" Rika nodded and said "Don't worry big brother I won't tell anyone!" Viper nodded and they walked into the bar.

A week later

Viper served a man with three swords a glass of alcohol, he looked at the man and said "You look really familiar, I'm Viper, have we met before?" the man took a sip and said "My name is Roranoa Zoro, I think I'd remember your hair, so I don't think we've met before." Viper said "Ah, the pirate hunter." he pulled out a chair and sat at the same table and said "Maybe, i've heard about you, but I could've sworn, i've seen you before." Zoro said "You're not afraid, i'll cut you?" Viper chuckled and said "Really? You don't look very menacing to me, besides i'm an actual monster." Zoro was confused and was about to ask what the hell he was talking about, when the door slammed open and a blond-haired man walked in with a wolf on a leash.

Viper got up and said "What do you want this time Helmeppo?" Helmeppo said "Get me drinks!" Viper nodded and pointed at the wolf "And for your puppy?" Helmeppo said "Any sort of food will do." as he waved his hand, Viper sighed and went to get him what he asked for. While he was gone the wolf started growling at Rika and charged at her. Viper came back just in time to grab Rika, dropping the drinks on the floor, and Zoro cut the wolf in half. Viper gave the swordsman a thumbs up, and Zoro grinned.

Helmeppo was angry and he pointed at Zoro and said "You bastard! I'm gonna get my father to smash this bar to the ground!" Viper growled and said "Watch it, Helmeppo. Wouldn't want the next thing to die in this place to be you." Zoro was impressed and Helmeppo turned pale as he stuttered "Y-you! How could you talk to me like that?! I'm Captain Morgan's son!" he pointed to Zoro and said "I'll spare this place if he stays tied up for a month!" Viper said "It was YOUR wolf that almost killed Rika!" Zoro said "I'll do it." Viper turned to him and said "Why? We're not in any trouble, I can protect this place just fine." he paused and mumbled "Though i'll probably have to leave the island after that.." Zoro raised a brow at that and said "It's fine, i'll do it." and walked out with Helmeppo to the Marine base. Viper sighed and said "What a moron, Helmeppo is obviously not going to let him go." Rika was worried and said "Is he going to be okay?" Viper shook his head and said "I don't know Rika, they probably won't feed him." Rika said "Then i'll make him food, he'll die if he doesn't eat!" Viper smiled and said "Okay, let me help you." they both went to the kitchen.

Around 20 days later

Viper was serving dishes to a guy in a straw hat and a pink haired kid, he said to himself "How come everybody who comes in here looks familiar?" he turned to the guy in a straw hat and said "Hey, my name is Viper, do I know you?" The guy blinked and said "Nope. I'm Luffy and I'm gonna be the king of the pirates!" Viper's mouth twitched and he said "You know, somehow I don't doubt you at all." the pink haired kid said "Really!? You don't think he's crazy?!" Viper said "Actually I do think he's crazy but he is very convincing" Viper looked at Luffy and said "That straw hat is really familiar, where did you get that?" Luffy said "You can't have it, rainbow hair!" Viper snapped "Rainbow hair!?!" Luffy laughed and said "Shishishi Your hair looks like a rainbow!" Viper seethed and took the plate of meat and said "Yeah? Now you don't have any food." Luffy said "No! I'm sorry!" Viper chuckled and put the food back and said "Seriously though, where did you get that?" Luffy said "Shanks gave it to me." before stuffing his face, scared that Viper would take it away again, Viper put his hand on his chin and said "Shanks.. The Yonko? Does he have red hair?" Luffy nodded and said "Yeah, you know him?" Viper chuckled and sat down as he said "Yeah, He is one of the four most powerful pirates on the sea." Luffy was shocked and said "Woah! So cool!" Viper nodded and said "It is pretty cool, also I heard you were looking for the pirate hunter?" Luffy nodded, Viper sighed "He's currently tied to a pole in the marine base yard." the pink haired kid said "They finally caught that menace!" Viper frowned and said "Who are you?" the pink haired kid said "Koby" Viper sneered and said "Well, Koby what are you so happy for? I'm a bigger monster than him, are you scared?" Vipers eyes turned to slits, and he smiled, two teeth turning into long fangs, Koby turned pale and Viper changed back while chuckling.

Luffy finished his food and got up "Thanks for the food, I'm going to recruit Zoro now, see ya!" and he walked right out of the door. Viper said "Hey! You didn't pay!" before sighing and saying "That's coming right out of my paycheck.." Riruka laughed and said "It's fine Viper, just clean the table." Viper smiled and said "Yes ma'am" he cleaned the table and Rika came over and whispered "Psst, big brother! I have more food for him." Viper smiled and said "Alright let's go!" he put the dishes in the sink and grabbed Rika before he ran out of the bar and into the woods.

Viper was slithering in his full transformation form with Rika sitting on his head. They got to the wall and Rika shushed the two others who were looking at Zoro over the wall. Koby and Luffy turned their heads and saw Viper, Luffy said "WOAH COOL!" and Koby nearly fainted in fear, Viper hissed at Koby, causing him to fall off the wall, and he laughed. Viper lowered his head over the wall and on to the ground allowing Rika to slide off before reverting back to his human form.

Luffy looked at Viper and said "Woah! You were that giant monster?!" Viper nodded and said "Yeah you scared?" Luffy shook his head and said "No that was so cool!" Viper blinked and laughed, before he heard a scream and looked up to see Rika flying in the air, he was shocked and was about to transform when Luffy's arm stretched around her and brought her safely to the ground. Viper went to Rika and said "Are you okay?! What happened?!" Rika had tears in her eyes and said "Helmeppo told the marines to throw me over the wall after he stomped my riceball flat and said it was disgusting." Viper was really angry, he hissed and transformed before saying "Don't worry Rika, i'll go get him for you." Rika grabbed on to him and said "No! They're gonna think you're a monster and you'll have to leave! Let's just go home." Viper sighed and lifted Rika on to his head and said "Okay, let's go." he chuckled and said "You were flying pretty high, were you scared?" Rika giggled and said "Yeah, I don't have wings." Viper laughed and slithered away.

Viper was sitting in the bar on a break, when Luffy and Koby came in, Luffy walked up to Rika and said "Zoro wanted me to tell you that the rice balls were very good" Rika smiled and said "Really! He said that!?" Luffy nodded and said to Viper "You! The snake! Join my crew." Viper spit out his drink right into Koby's face and said "You want me to become a pirate?" Luffy nodded and Viper said "I refuse." Luffy frowned and said "What! Why!" Viper said "I owe Rika and her mom a favor, I can't leave. They're like family." he closed his eyes and shook his head, when he opened his eyes Luffy was talking to Riruka "Hey miss, can rainbow hair join my crew?" Riruka giggled and said "If he wants to" before she turned to Viper and said "If you want to go with him Viper, you can." Viper hesitated and looked at Rika, who was looking at him before he opened his mouth, but the door slammed open at that moment.

Helmeppo walked in and said "Get me drinks! I'm so bored I might just execute the pirate hunter!" Viper seethed and grabbed Helmeppo's collar and said "You had a deal with him! And are you the one who threw Rika today?" Helmeppo started to sweat and stuttered "Y-You can't do anything to me, my father will kill you!" Viper said "If I kill you right now, who will know?" Helmeppo turned pale, and Viper punched him in the face and said "Scram, if I see you again, i'll kill you." Helmeppo ran away screaming "You'll pay!" Viper sighed and said to Rika and her mom "I'm sorry, We should probably leave the island, If I fight the marines i'll become a pirate for real." Riruka said with a smile "Then go with the other boy, he seems nice, and it looks like he's going to fight the marines." she pointed at Luffy, who walked out the door and said "Koby which way was the marine base again?" Koby followed him out, Viper sighed and said "Thank you, if I really do leave, i'll let you know." Viper ran out and transformed and followed after Luffy and Koby.

Viper, Luffy, and Koby landed in front of Zoro, Luffy said "Hey that guy with the helmet hair, said he's going to execute you today." Zoro said "He said I only had to be tied up!" Viper sighed and said "He lied, we just heard him at the bar saying that he was bored and decided to execute you." Zoro said "You're the guy from the bar." Viper nodded and Zoro said "I would leave if I had my swords." Luffy said "If I get your swords you join my crew!" Zoro said "No! I won't become a pirate!" Luffy said "Come on! Where are you swords?" Zoro said "That helmet hair guy took em, I guess they're in the base." Luffy nodded and ran off.

Viper watched him go and said "I think you're gonna end up becoming a pirate there Zoro." Zoro said "Why are you here?" Viper said "That helmet guy threw Rika over a wall so I punched him and he said i'll regret it. I didn't want him to hurt Rika and her mother so here I am." Zoro sneered and said "I think you're gonna end up becoming a pirate there Viper." Viper said "Har har, stealing my jokes grass-hair?" Zoro snapped "You're making fun of MY hair?! Look at yours!" Viper snapped back "My hair is absolutely beautiful thank you" he sighed and continued "Believe it or not, it's actually natural." Zoro and Koby said "Really?" Viper sighed and nodded, he leaned over so Zoro could touch it, Zoro gasped and said "Wow! It's soft too!" Viper ran his fingers through it and said "Yeah, well I keep it maintained." Koby said "Me too." Viper was about to say something, when dozens of Marines showed up in front of them.

A giant man said "You three! You're going to die for disobeying me. Captain Morgan!" Viper said "Is not standing a rule here?" Morgan sneered and said "Whatever traitors!" Viper sighed and transformed into the giant Quetzalcoatl, much to everyone's shock. He hissed at the marines and said "Drop your weapons!" the marines were frozen, and Morgan said "Don't be scared! He just ate a devil fruit! Shoot at them now!" the marines raised their guns and shot, Viper spread his fan tail in front of Zoro to block the bullets, but it didn't matter because Luffy jumped in front of all the bullets and bounced them all back "Shishishishi Those don't work on me i'm rubber." Viper piped in "Well that takes care of that." Luffy turned around and said "Which one of these is yours?" he was holding three swords and Zoro said "They're all mine. Can you untie me first?" Viper used his fangs to cut the ropes, and Zoro grabbed his swords and said "I'm only following you so I can achieve my dream, If you ever stop me from doing that I'll cut you first." Luffy nodded and smiled before turning to Viper and saying "That leaves you." Viper sighed and said "Don't really have a choice now do I?" as he pointed his fan tail at the shocked marines.

Zoro put a sword in his mouth and held the other two before slashing through the marines, Luffy stretched his arm and punched Morgan in the face sending him flying back, Viper was watching them and noticed Helmeppo grabbed Koby and put a gun to his head before saying "Stop!" Luffy stopped and turned to look at him, Viper just hissed and shot his tail at Helmeppo sending him flying, and said "Well that was easy." Luffy laughed and turned back around to see Zoro block Morgan's axe from killing him, Luffy knocked Morgan out and the rest of the marines cheered, the group were confused and Viper said "Aren't they supposed to be mad?" Zoro shrugged and one of the marines said "Were free from Morgan!" Viper picked up Zoro, Luffy, and Koby before slithering towards the bar.

The four of them were sitting in the bar drinking, when a bunch of marines showed up and said "You're pirates right?" Luffy said "Yup, I just got my first two crewmates!" the marine said "Alright, thank you for what you did for us, but you have to leave now." Viper went up to Riruka and Rika and said "Thank you for everything, I am truly grateful." Riruka said "Don't worry about it, it was my pleasure." Rika said "Are you leaving big brother?" Viper said "Yeah, I'll miss you Rika." Rika jumped into his arms and said "Thank you for playing with me" Viper smiled and hugged her, before putting her down and walking out with Luffy and Zoro. The marine pointed at Koby and said "Isn't he with you?" Luffy said "No, but he was on a pirate-" Koby punched him in the face and Luffy punched him back, the marine said "Stop! Alright he's obviously not with you, just go." the trio left and Zoro said "You're a terrible actor." Viper nodded and said "Yeah, I don't think anyone would believe that." Luffy just laughed and the trio walked to a small boat.

The trio were on the boat sailing, and saw the marines salute at them from the island, Zoro said "Never seen marines salute pirates before." Viper nodded, before he sat down and fell asleep, wondering where this journey would take him. How would he know it would be an adventure he'd never forget.
