Banished

Heraleen sighed as she looked at the angel that was standing by the kingdom's door.

"Dear, kindly bring me some red wine please," she ordered the angel sweetly. The angel bowed to their supreme leader, then left her alone inside the room to get her the wine she requested.

The Almighty Seraphim walked to her throne then sat down. Her brows furrowed when she recalled the conversation that she and the Dominion Ivar had a few hours ago.

She tapped the side of her throne with her fingers, feeling uneasy. Knowing what was happening after a hundred of years since her son's banishment, she felt restless, not expecting that this would happen.

She didn't realize that the curse would soon be lifted if they took appropriate actions, however, it would mean differently for the girl.

Heraleen realized that fate can be really playful in the lives of both immortals and mortals.

Soon after, the angel the Seraphim instructed came in the room with their Majesty's wine. She bowed in front of her, then extended her hand in order for Heraleen to get the glass from her.

In just a few seconds, she already finished the whole wine in the wine glass. The angel tried her best to conceal her surprise as she got the glass from her then walked away, leaving their Highness alone in the room.

'Is our Seraphim doing well?'

Heraleen stood up then walked over to the window to watch the bustling angels doing their responsibilities when suddenly, an unforgettable and unforgivable memory flashed in her mind, giving her a sudden pang of pain mixed with rage.

"Devin, what have you done?!"

It was rare for the tranquil powerful Seraphim to be this angry. In her rage, in just one wave of her hand, she summoned a strong gust of wind in the kingdom, making everything fall into shambles.

Standing there in front of her was her son, Devin, who flinched in pain as the sharp wind cut through his clothes, grazing his body.

The Almighty Seraphim levitated along with the wind. All the angels who were present in the throne room were sent flying away, except for Devin who still stood on his ground, trying his best to match up to his mother's prowess.

Heraleen's eyes turned all white as she stared at her son. The light that was surrounding her emanated powerfully, making her look like a shining star. Tears started escaping from her eyes as she pointed at her son then gave him a condescending look.

"You have committed a great sin against us angels. You have disturbed the peace in our kingdom, making the others fear you and feel uncomfortable!"

Devin stared at his mother nonchalantly, not caring that she has a higher rank than him—not caring that he went against the rules of their kingdom. To Devin, Heraleen was just his mother... he did not see her as an angel worthy of her title, Seraphim.

To him, she is naive.

"I will punish you henceforth! You will no longer be branded as a Cherubim upholding the principles of our kingdom... but you will now be branded as a Fallen Angel, who went against Elysion!"

When Devin heard this, there was a sign of hurt in his eyes. He did not expect his mother to do this to him!

"You're banishing me from our kingdom," he asked, with a hint of mockery in his voice. "Just because I went against our principles, when I did that, just to protect our kingdom?"

When Heraleen heard this, another gust of wind entered the room, throwing Devin off from the floor, his back hitting the heavy door of the throne room.

"Devin!"

The Cherubim coughed out blood as he was held up by Ivar. Despite being in their presence and him being a mere Dominion, he still cared for his best friend.

"Leave him, Ivar," Heraleen ordered and the Dominion hesitatingly did so. He gave a small bow, then stood at the side the moment he let go of Devin.

The Cherubim wiped off the blood from the corner of his mouth then he looked at his mother who was still levitating in the air. The immortal smirked, not feeling threatened by his powerful mother.

Heraleen's eyes didn't stop crying. Her eyes now looked like it released rivulets of tears, as she felt rage and disappointment by what her son did.

"You have a corrupt mind by thinking that killing your third brother would protect the kingdom!"

The moment Heraleen said that, Devin's eyes turned heavy—nonchalant, as he stared into his mother's purple eyes that he inherited.

"Do what you want. I wouldn't care."

In just a second, the Seraphim appeared in front of her son, surprising Devin himself. She was as quick as the travel of light!

The mighty Heraleen grabbed her son by the collar, surprising the other angels who were present in the room.

Their Seraphim was known to be gentle and forgiving but seeing her treat her son like this, they understand where this is coming.

Devin made a great sin of going against an angel by ending his life... knowing that the angel was also his brother by blood.

A portal of the human world appeared at the Seraphim's side then she spoke, her powerful words echoing inside the room as she inflicted a curse on her son.

"You are to be banished from the Kingdom of Elysion. You are henceforth stripped from your rank and you are to dwell in the human world to reflect on your evil deed."

The Fallen Angel scoffed then gave his mother a smirk, as if he was not being punished greatly by the Seraphim.

"Oh? Is that all?"

The Seraphim smirked at her son's arrogance. She felt like playing along, wanting to see the reaction of her son upon knowing what the great deal of the curse is.

"You are to crave souls as you walk through the paths of the Earth. Your lifespan shall lessen the moment those souls touch your lips to satisfy your hunger. Not eating souls would make you go on a rampage."

Devin's eyes widened.

"You—!"

A purple light emanated from Devin and a purple rose emerged from his body. With her free hand, Heraleen got the rose and touched it with her lips as if sealing the curse.

"Don't fret, child... the cure to the curse is on Earth. It is up to fate to trigger when it happens. I hope you learn from your mistakes soon before the curse grants you eternal slumber," she said teasingly as she snapped her fingers, making the purple rose disappear.

Afterwards, she mercilessly threw her son in the portal leading to the human world as if she dealt with garbage. Heraleen then looked at the Dominion at the side, whom she knew well as her son's best friend.

"Watch over him, Dominion," Heraleen ordered nonchalantly as she slowly landed on the kingdom's floor.

The angels who had witnessed the scene cowered in fear, not knowing that their merciful Seraphim could also be this merciless.

Ivar gave their almighty Seraphim a bow before disappearing in front of Heraleen, following Devin to the human world.

Heraleen waved her hands, feeling frustrated. "Go. I want to be left alone," she ordered all the angels around her and in just a flash, they left right after they bid her farewell.

The Seraphim walked towards her throne then sat down, remembering her third son's death. She started crying once more as she covered her face with both of her hands, feeling angered and saddened at the same time.

***

The Seraphim closed her eyes, trying her best to compose herself and not cry upon remembering this event from over a hundred years ago.

Heraleen had high expectations from her sons, especially from Devin, since he was the most powerful from among her three sons.

With great power comes with great responsibilities. It is a common saying even for the mortals. Heraleen believed that her son Devin, was blinded by his own powers, to have done such a grievous act.

Because of this, she inflicted a great curse upon her son. With a heavy heart, she did so, wanting for him to learn from his mistake.

She did give him a great curse but she made sure she also made a twist to the curse—how to reverse the curse. But she didn't expect it to happen.

The twist to the curse was for the Soul Eater to go berserk around a human girl who will, at the same time, tame him to calm down in just a single touch.

The Almighty Seraphim sighed the moment she realized that she regret giving her son a curse out of anger, without knowing that someday, this were to happen if fate allowed it.

She wondered what would happen if her son were to fall for the human girl that he saved. It would lift his curse, however...

The girl would have to give her soul for him in exchange for his salvation.

It would lead to the innocent girl's death—granting the Soul Eater his freedom.
