A Great Lesson

The four of them were surprised to see him this way. Angeal was very careful not to move because she feared that if she would, they would wake their master up, not knowing if he would be back to normal or if he would lose control again.

Angeal looked up at the three of them, then gave Ivar a look, desperate to get out of this situation.

'Help me out here, please!'

At the same moment, there were footsteps heard from upstairs. When Gladios, Martha, and her daughter looked down from above to look at them, they were relieved to see them safe and at the same time curious to see them in such a position.

Why is Devin resting on Angeal's shoulder?

"Angeal!"

The three of them rushed from upstairs then approached them, curious of what had just happened.

"Are you okay, Angeal? These two kept me in there, I was about to lose my mind! I kept telling them I need to go! It's as if my BP is going to skyrocket! Are you—"

"Nngh..."

Old man Gladios suddenly went silent when they heard the beast mumble. Suddenly they were on high alert, not wanting to provoke their master again. Angeal placed her finger in front of her mouth, shushing her grandfather.

"I'm okay," she mouthed and the old man sighed, feeling relieved.

Gwen approached Ivar then whispered, but it was still audible for others to hear, except for their master.

"What happened? Why did it turn out this way," she asked and Ivar shook his head to answer, looking serious as ever.

The Soul Eater's personal servant observed that Devin could get berserk at the sight of this woman, but also recently learned that he could be stopped by the hands of this woman.

What on earth is happening?

"I don't know. Anyway, we have to put him inside his room," Devin's personal servant answered then he walked to the two, taking Devin's arm.

What happened next took everyone by surprise.

Devin's eyes suddenly opened, showing them his bloodshot purple eyes. All of a sudden, his guard was up as he pulled Angeal closer to him, making the girl touch his chest, struggling to push him for space.

"Go away."

The moment he said this, the two disappeared in a blink of an eye, leaving the others behind in the slightly destroyed main room, in utter shock.

'My granddaughter!'

Feeling his heartbeat double its pace caused by his panic and worry about his sweet Angeal, the old man suddenly approached Ivar, feeling desperate, as he clung on to the sleeves of his suit. He felt ever so worried for Angeal that she suddenly disappeared with their master right in front of their very eyes!

"Ivar, please go check on my granddaughter! What will he do to her!?"

The immortal looked at Gladios with concerned eyes then forced a smile to not make him worry any further.

"I'll check up on them right away. Don't worry. His eyes are back to normal, at least," he said then he went off, walking fast towards their master's room.

The old man suddenly felt weak and dizzy when he knew that Angeal was left alone with their master just after he went berserk. Who knows what could have happened if they were left alone for too long. Why did he even take her granddaughter away?

Gladios sighed as he slumped his body on the couch, feeling defeated. Martha noticed how worried he was so she sat down beside him then held his hand for comfort.

"Oh, Gladios... please don't worry yourself much. I know I am in no position to say this but Angeal said that she is okay," she said as she comforted the old man and Gwen chimed in.

"Yeah, yeah! Calm down, gramps. We wouldn't want you to have health complications now, right," Martha's daughter joked but old man Gladios' face still had worry plastered on his face. "I'll go get water," she added, feeling slightly worried for the old man as she rushed to go to the kitchen for water.

Edwin looked at his arm that looked black and blue. It was obvious that the impact was too much that it gave him such a big bruise. He shook both of his hands then sighed in relief the moment he knew that his bones healed quickly. It was then that he thought that being an immortal has its perks.

In a daze, Arvid looked both of his hands, feeling frustrated than ever.

He was right beside Angeal. He trained since he was young to fight like his father. In just one glare from their master, he was frozen in fear and he found it unbearable to be in his presence. He thought he was strong enough to protect Angeal—to protect the girl he loves... was this not enough?

Is he not enough?

"Damn!"

Everyone looked at the frustrated young immortal when he shouted his annoyance. Arvid felt a sudden surge of anger in his body and in just a second, he vanished, leaving the the others behind.

"Oh, what's wrong with the boy?"

Martha stood up, feeling worried for the child. As she was about to look for him, she was stopped by Edwin.

"Leave him be."

Martha furrowed her brows when she heard this. It was obvious that Edwin's son is agitated but he wants him to be left alone?

"But..."

Edwin just shook his head without saying a word. The head housekeeper just sighed as she sat back on the couch, not understanding him. Edwin is indeed, the boy's father... she would just leave it up to his decision on how to handle his son. If he sees this as best, then Martha had no choice but to listen.

Edwin especially knew what his son was angry about so he just stood there, not bothering to follow him or even talk to him.

He believed in his son so much and he had confidence in him so much... that he knew that this incident is a great lesson for him to become a better fighter. Edwin knew pretty well that his son is going to be determined to protect those precious to him.

This incident will do well to make him remember that at all times.
