Rabbit Moon Festival (I)

Shen Mo guided Chu Chu towards a big carriage parked near a jewellery store. The carriage wasn't extravagant and didn't look that expensive. However, its enormous size was accompanied by an overwhelming aura, making the people around feel intimidated.

Chu Chu stopped in front of the carriage and gazed at Shen Mo with reluctance. She was worried that something might happen to her once she's in the confines of the carriage. Thus, she vigilantly surveyed her surroundings.

Behind her were all the commoners trying to enjoy the beautiful day. She could see from the corner of her eyes that there weren't any suspicious people waiting to ambush her, giving her a sense of relief. However, she couldn't stop the hesitation from growing inside her as she didn't know what would happen the moment she enters the carriage.

Noticing her irresolution, Shen Mo reassured her and said, "My master is inside the carriage. You don't have to worry about anything since the carriage won't be moving anywhere soon."

Nodding her head, Chu Chu put her feet on the stool intended for climbing up the carriage. She then parted the curtain covering the windows of the carriage while Shen Mo stayed outside to guard.

Once Chu Chu separated the curtains, the first sight that she saw almost blinded her. It made her wonder if she entered a completely different world.

The interior of the equipage was like any other carriages she had seen in the past. Withal, this was not the thing that surprised her.

At the centre of the carriage, a beautiful young female was sitting indifferently; her eyes stuck on the road outside.

The lady looked utterly fascinating. She was wearing a pure white dress, decorated with intricate and prominent black patterns at the hem of her skirt that even Chu Chu, the once number one beauty in the capital, was in awe as she laid her eyes on the beauty in front of her.

Hearing the commotion coming from Shen Mo and Chu Chu, Lin Xiaofei didn't rush to look at Chu Chu who just mounted the carriage, looking outside as if she didn't notice the new person who occupied the space before her. She continued to ignore the presence of the newcomer

A minute had passed when Chu Chu decided to clear her throat to snap herself out of the trance she put herself into when she saw Lin Xiaofei.

"You… You're the young lord from last time?", Chu Chu half asked and half stated, her eyes never leaving the figure of the young lady she fronted.

Of course, there are some cases wherein a any man would take after his mother's appearance and become more feminine at a young age. However instant they become an adult, their appearance, stature, and voice would change and they'll be able to manifest their inherent masculinity.

Nonetheless, the young man she met last time was nowhere masculine enough. Every mannerism she showed was a sign of femininity. Hence, Chu chu had the feeling that the young lord she met at that time was not as he portrayed himself.

Her guess was quickly confirmed when the young lady in front of her slowly nodded her head, a cold smile creeping up her face.

"Yes." Lin Xiaofei answered to erase her doubts as she pointed her hand towards a stool in the carriage and said, "Please sit."

Chu Chu sat on the stool and stared at Lin Xiaofei with a strange look. Her brows were stitched together like she was trying to solve a puzzle as she kept on looking at her face.

"Have we met before?" She said, but she corrected her words, "I mean, even before, we got to meet last time in Bai Hua Lou..."

Lin Xiaofei flinched slightly prior to shaking her head as a reply.

Upon thinking about it again, Lin Xiaofei relaxed a little bit as she thought that it was improbable for anyone to think of the possibility that she possessed the young lady in the Lin residence. It made her heave a sigh of relief.

Her palms started to sweat as she avoided Chu Chu's honest and clear eyes, the opposite of her cold eyes that were filled with mysteries.

Her facial features didn't move an inch and were as stiff as before. They didn't betray her and didn't show any indication to others that she was lying.

"I don't think I had the chance of meeting you before, but I am sure that Miss Chu has seen and heard of me. Thus, there is this feeling of familiarity." She said.

Her words caught the attention of Chu Chu, "What do you mean by that?"

Lin Xiaofei simply smiled and uttered, "I'm sure you have heard of the Fourth Young Miss of the Lin family, Lin Xiaofei. The young lady with an arrogant personality and stupidity that could pierce the world, labelled as the disgrace of the great Lin family. That young lady I am talking about and the young lady in front of you now, they're one and the same. Do you still think you've never heard of me?"

Chu Chu's words were caught in her throat as she looked at Lin Xiaofei with huge and wide eyes. Her bewilderment was evident with how speechless she was, rendered by the identity of the young lady afore her.

Lin Xiaofei? Wasn't that the same young lady who isolated herself in her own courtyard for three years?

The news of the Fourth Young Miss of the Lin family isolating herself wasn't hidden from the public. It reached the quarters of every brothel around the capital. Hence, Chu Chu found it strange that the young lady in front of her was the same infamous Lin Xiaofei.

Moreover, this was also the same young man she met just a few days ago. The one who claimed that he will help her in her path to revenge. She is also the person that her friend Xiaofei had entrusted with the matters of the 'box'.

While looking apprehensively at Lin Xiaofei, she asked, "Did General Lin perhaps order you to say that?"

"No." Lin Xiaofei simply said as she continued, "My grandfather has nothing to do with me or the issues we're about to discuss, so you don't have to be so wary around me."
