Irresistible

Massaging the back of his neck, Lin Que stretched and raised his arms cheerfully. "It's finally Friday!!!!" Quickly, he hopped into the shower and started preparing for the event. He spoke with Lily over the phone as she got ready.

When she was about finished with her makeover and prepared to get changed, she wondered what he was doing. It was a weekday, yet he was free to talk with her over the phone for this long duration.

"Lin Que, don't you have work today?"

"Yep." He replied as he got chugged down a cup of water.

"Then you shouldn't delay work any longer. Quickly hang up. I'm almost done getting ready anyways." She said as she wore the accessories on her desk.

"It's fine. I have fifteen minutes to spare before I attend a meeting." He smiled as he straightened his suit.

"Okay! Work hard. I'll talk to you tonight after the event ends! Muahhhh"

"Muah. Have fun and stay safe. Don't forget to bring a physical copy of the file." He reminded her before hanging up.

"I have it all in my hands. I'll give this party some fabulous colors. It's about time now."

"Good. Let me know when you get into the car."

"Alright~ Bye bye." She disconnected the call from her side.

After checking his outfit once more, he grabbed everything he needed and went to pick up Kevin.

- Grand Hall -

Meng Meng greeted each guest as they signed in at the entrance. When she received Lily's response to the invitation, she was quite shocked that she was willing to attend. Her heart felt unsteady as she had spoken many inappropriate rumors about her. She was afraid Lily had other motives for attending the party this time.

Therefore, she decided to set Lily up once she settles at the party. Since she had already dipped her head into water when she first spread words around, she needs to make her words believable. According to her plans, Lily would definitely choose a specific champagne over other choices as it is her favorite. 'The champagne is specially for you, Lily.' She mocked inwardly.

While everyone walked around after entering the ballroom, Meng Meng was busy introducing her boyfriend to everyone who walks in. Knowing which relatives were gossipers, Lily naturally kept her dating status to herself. In other words, nobody at the party knows she was dating.

Meng Meng smiled, "Mister Cheng, welcome to my party. Thank you for showing up. This way please." She stepped out of the way for the guest to walk through.

Aaron Cheng eyed her outfit and smiled, "You're too polite. Miss. Jiang looks nice today. This black low-cut dress with goose feathers matches your look."

"It's my pleasure to receive such compliments from you. This is my boyfriend, Hawk. He's the son of the Fu family. If there are future collaboration opportunities, please look after him." She lowered her head slightly, acting shyly.

"Of course, but I thought the Fu fam-" His words halted when chatters from outside interrupted the conversation. His head curiously turned around to see what the fuss was about. When he did, his eyes widened and the gift box in his hands almost dropped.

From the center of the red carpet, Lily's silky black hair with tints of brown reflected under the lighting flowed with the pace of her movements. Her sweet, glossy cherry lips shimmered as it parted to form a smile. Her long eyelashes brought out the brightness in her eyes. Her silver gown waved as her legs moved forward; like nature flaunting its beauty.

Her gown accentuated her curves splendidly. As she approached her cousin, the delicate beads on her gown sparkled, twinkling like a night filled with stars. Along with her outfit and simple hair updo, a pair of silver half-flower diamond designed clips secured her hair from either side of her head. The teardrop earrings dangled as she walked, bringing people's attention to the mini pink diamond studs earlobe cuffs; breathlessly taking away the spotlight from Meng Meng.

Catching a familiar figure next to Meng Meng, Lily pretended he didn't exist. She maintained her smile, "Long time no see, Meng Meng." Lily scribbled her name on the sign-in book and turned to walk into the room. She could hear a soft 'wow' slipping out of Hawk's mouth as she walked past them.

"Wait, Lily. It's been a long time. No hug?" Meng Meng hooked her arm tighter around Hawk's arm as she tried bragging about him to her. Before she said another word, Aaron Cheng stepped between them and faced Lily.

"Hello, my name is Aaron Cheng. May I have the honor to know yours?"

"I'm Lily Jiang. And sorry, Meng Meng. I'm afraid I can't give you any hugs as my gown may get dirtied. I'll get seated first while you busy with your guests." Lily purposely glanced at Hawk's surprised face.

"Ah! Right. Lily, this is my new boyfriend, Hawk. He comes from the Fu family, and they own quite a few companies. Perhaps, there are possible business deals you could have Auntie and Uncle to discuss with him in the future." She tugged his arm and wanted to prove she was more superior.

"Oh? That's funny. Didn't cousin say Jiang Corps depended on your parents? Then why would you have to come to my parents and me for? Aren't I right?" Her smile was obvious at the couple in front of her. Her voice rung many people's ears as she said it by the entrance; catching many guests attentions.

"If there's nothing else, I'll get seated. Ah, right. I've attended many business gatherings, and some were with the Fu family. How come I don't recall seeing Mister Hawk at the gatherings? I wonder why." Her motive was quite obvious as she pointed out his undeniable lies in front of him.

"Miss. Jiang must have forgotten about seeing me or maybe I just happened to not be present at those gathering. Enjoy your time tonight." He forced a smile on his face and directed her towards the room using his arm.

"Oh? It's unfortunate my memory is known for being extremely great, then." She smiled and walked away elegantly. Other guests have been eavesdropping on their conversation, so Lily wouldn't disappoint them with juicy facts. She saw many guests taking out their phones to use the internet browser.

'Ah, ah~ What a nice way of meeting an ex. The party just doubled up the fun. Killing two birds in one stone. Saves my effort.'

Meanwhile, Aaron followed Lily and kept pestering her with questions. "Miss. Jiang, the gown looks gorgeous on you. May I know the designer's name?"

Smiling politely while maintaining a distance from him, she replied "The designer is mysterious, but she leaves Y.S. as her initials."

Almost all females gasped when they heard the initials. Their eyes laid on the detailed work on the dress with jealous expressions. Finally, one of the female guests walked up and asked, "I'm familiar with every collection by that designer, but I've never seen this gown."

"It's customized for me." Lily didn't bother saying an extra word to explain herself. Of course, she already sensed a nice rotten mouth coming.

"You're lying. The designer never creates clothes for anyone." The lady crossed her arms and smirked at Lily as she tried proving the gown a fake.

"Other people such as yourself may get rejected, but it doesn't mean my family would be turned away. Whether you believe me or not, your choice. This designer's intricate work cannot be found anywhere."

"You.. If that's the case then why wouldn't Meng Meng talk about that designer?" The lady refused to back down.

"I don't like repeating myself, so this is the last time I'm saying it. Other people may be turned down, but my family won't. Do you have any other questions that are not asked already?" Lily looked up with a grin.

"Your cousin, Jiang Meng Meng, is part of the Jiang family!" The lady continued her provocation.

Right when Meng Meng and Hawk had stepped into the room, they heard Lily's voice loud and clear. "Haha, if you call someone sister, does it mean they share the same blood as you? Likewise, 'cousin' is only a title. If your surname is also Jiang, would calling you 'cousin' make you my blood related cousin? If that's the case, then big sis, your family is at least a village's population size. Anyways, I have no obligation to fulfill your curiosity. If you're done, then leave me alone."

Across the room, Lin Que crossed his arms and leaned back as he saw how powerful his girlfriend is. With a proud expression on his face, he heard Kevin whisper, "Your girlfriend's memory is amazing. There was only a page mentioning Jiang Meng Meng's father being adopted. Therefore, they don't have blood relations."

"Of course. My girl is amazing. Especially right now, she's irresistible. It's so difficult to look away from her." He chuckled as he complimented her.

"Uh huh, maybe you're just trying to slap bees away from your goddess." Kevin teased as he elbowed Lin Que.
