The Appointment

Today my wife has been pregnant for 4 months and the closer our baby comes to join us in this world the more nervous I become. Im sure its normal to get nervous. Today we'll be finding out about the gender of the baby. We're heading to her doctor now to find out now. She longs extremely nervous so I put my hand on hers to comfort her. She starts to calm down a little. "How are you feelin right now" I ask. "Honestly pretty nervous about this". "Me too" I think to myself. As we pull into the parking lot of the check-up facility I ask her if she'd want to get a bite to eat after. "lets worry about food after this" she exclaims. We go in and she gets her ultrasound. They couldn't tell which gender was. It kinda sucks but ill love him/her the same anyway. "So what about now?" I ask. "I'd really like some soft serve ice cream right now" She says. We drive to the nearest Wendy's to get her a frostie. I wasn't feeling it so I just got a large water. While she eats on the way home she asks what for dinner, "I was thinking chinese takeout" I say kinda exhausted from earlier. "Sounds good to me". We pull into the driveway and go inside. Sherly excited as ever to see us jumps into my arms so I carry her inside. I set Sherly down and pet her before taking my boots off. As I take my other boot of my wife brings me a box wrapped in christmas paper. "Whats this?" I say. "Just open it" She says smiling to herself. As I open it I see the converse logo. I haven't worn a pair of converse since high school. I put them on to see if they fit. The shoes fit perfectly. "When did you get these?" I say smiling a little. "When we went to the store a little while ago to get boots for you" She says sneakily. I put both pair of foot wear up and go sit on the couch to read.
