Filming VS Reality

JAYB's POV

"JayB-ssi, I didn't know you were this aggressive." Dahyun teased.

We were now heading towards the café that Yo Chul-hyung prepared for me. It was really weird holding hands with her while walking on the sidewalk. Everything around us was making me anxious and nervous. The people taking pictures of us, the camera and the crew who were filming us, and THIS… Dahyun being beside me as my wife. I can't believe that the girl I shared ramyeon about a month ago is now my wife!

"Really? I'm quite nervous actually." I said as I pretended to shake my hand which made her laugh.

"So where are you taking me?" She said as she turned to me.

I was still quite flustered every time she makes eye contact with me. Everything just feels so surreal. "Well, I actually looked up online to see if there were good cafés nearby. I actually found a good one."

She then giggled as she held my hand tighter. "Well that sounds lovely. You really did come prepared."

"I don't want to disappoint my wife on our first day together. I didn't disappoint you, did I?" I asked as I stared at her eyes. She looked really different today.

She smiled at me. "So far… you've exceeded beyond my expectations."

I could feel that she was slightly shivering. It was either she was nervous or was cold. Her hands were holding mine tighter so I could tell that she was freezing. "Wait a second, baby."

She froze the moment I called her that, but I was too caught up in taking off my coat that I didn't get to see how shocked she looked. I put my coat on her and wrapped it tightly so she wouldn't feel cold. "There we go. You were shivering a while ago. I hope you'll at least feel a little bit warm with this. Don't worry. The café's just nearby."

After I said that she gave me a nod as she thanked me, and I could see her face slowly turning red. Does this mean that I'm earning some points with my wife? I took her hand slowly and guided her towards the café. I made sure that before we crossed the street she was on the safer side.

She turned to me as soon as we entered the café and asked "Wouldn't everyone think it's weird that we're THIS close on our first day?"

I pondered about it before looking over the menu. "Well, I don't really want to pretend in front of the camera. We've been working together for such a long time since I'm your exclusive producer after all AND we're also label mates. I guess it's a habit that I'm close to you."

She sighed. "Does this mean that you're treating me as your friend instead of your wife right now?"

I snap my head towards her as I chuckled. "No. Of course not. I was treating you before like you're someone that I needed to take care of."

She had a confuse look on her face. "So how are you treating me now?"

I gave her a warm smile before I held her hand gently. "I'm treating you like you're the only person worth taking care of."

"JayB-oppa…" She suddenly grew speechless as her cheeks burned red.

I chuckled at how cute she became and I didn't even realize that she called me casually and not as her husband. I then turned my attention to the cashier who was waiting to take our order. "One iced Americano please. No sugar. And one iced mocha for the lady. Oh! And please add in some more chocolate for that drink. Thank you! Here's my card."

Her mouth fell wide open as she stared at me in amazement. "How did you…"

"Two years. That's how long I've known you. Come on. Let's have a seat right here." I chuckled before I continued. "Do you want a something to eat? It's almost lunch time."

"No, I'm good. Thanks." She responded.

"I know you're on a diet because it's almost your comeback. Don't worry. The food here's healthy and organic." I smiled at her.

"Then something sweet would be nice." She smiled shyly.

I nodded before turning my attention to the cashier again. "Please add a slice of chocolate mousse cake please. And one clubhouse sandwich to go."

After ordering, I guided her towards the table that I reserved near the fire place of the café. I then pulled the chair for her to sit on before sitting down the chair opposite to her. "Feeling warm and better now?"

She gave me a slight nod. Before giving me half a smile. I noticed it and was debating whether I should ask about it or not. In the end, I went with my gut. "Is everything alright? You look uncomfortable."

"Ah? No! I mean, yes! Everything is fine. It's just… you've been perfect today, and I can't help but feel like I need to do something for you in return." Dahyun explained.

Her words made me chuckle slightly. "Hey… don't worry about it. I AM your husband now. And I need to take care of you. A relationship is not a competition about who gives more. It's about giving everything you can to the best of your abilities without expecting anything in return."

"Oppa… I might get used to this and become really spoiled." She said.

"You have every right to be. I WILL take care of you Dahyun-ie." I assured her.

She sighed. "Still, I can't help but feel like I need to do something for you."

"Tell you what. If you really feel that way, then don't worry about it. It's still our first day. There are plenty more dates for us to have." I told her.

Soon, our drinks arrived but the silence was becoming more awkward by the second. I asked after taking a sip from my drink. "So Dahyun-ie… what food do you like?"

"Oh me? I can eat anything except raw fish." She replied as she took a sip from her drink as well.

"Really? But I saw you eat sushi a while back." I told her.

She had a look of confusion written all over her face. "I did? Huh… I don't remember actually."

"Never mind. It must have been my imagination." I replied with a wry smile.

"Do you love sushi then?" She threw the question back at me.

I smiled at her as I mixed the coffee with my straw. "I love any kind of food. I'm not actually picky when it comes to it."

"Oh really? I didn't know that. I always seem to see you work even on your breaks so I thought that food wasn't something you enjoy." She said as she tried thinking about it.

"Eyy… that was when we were busy. You know that my members and I are ALL samgyupsal lovers." I chuckled as I tried to deny her claims.

She giggled. "Oh yeah. I DEFINITELY can't forget that day you guys finished 10kg of samgyupsal. You guys weren't even full."

"Right? Now who were you calling a picky eater?" I smirked as I crossed my arms.

She chuckled while rolling her eyes. "I never said that you were."

It got quiet again as we finished talking about that topic. I decided to ask her some more questions. "What are your interests?"

"Hmm? Eating, shopping from time to time, and just sleeping I guess. I'm not that into games like Mina-unnie, or as outgoing as Sana-unnie so I pretty much stay at the dorm." She replied.

I smiled at her. "That explains why when your members come to visit our studio, you're mostly absent."

"They have their boyfriends there. I don't actually have a reason to visit your studio." She shrugged.

"Well, now you do." I smirked.

She choked on her drink as soon as I said that. She snapped her head towards me while trying her best to compose herself as she cleared her throat. "So… what are your interests?"

I hummed. "Hmm? Interests… well, I'm pretty interested in you."

She coughed as she choked once again from her drink. Dahyun then started wiping the spilled drink on the table. "Wow. Smooth. You really know how to make a girl speechless. Do you say that to every girl you know?"

I watched her wipe the table with the table cloth. I saw that there was a smudge on her lower lip from the drink. "No. Not EVERY girl."

"Seriously…" She was too busy cleaning the table to notice the smudge.

I took my handkerchief from my pocket and slowly leaned towards her to wipe it off. "Just you."

She stared at me with wide eyes as her cheeks flushed red. "Uhm… thank you…" I quickly pulled my hand away as she took the handkerchief from me. "I'll return this to you after I wash it."

"No, it's okay. You can keep it." I insisted.

She then nodded slightly. "Okay…"

This was getting awkward. I then cleared my throat. "So… I just wanted to ask about the things that you expect from me as we… you know… go through this marriage."

She was able to compose herself a little as she smiled. "Three things?"

"Are there more?" I joked.

She giggled. "No, that's not what I meant. Anyway, three things… probably to protect me from harm, love me despite my flaws, and don't change even when we're done with the show."

"We just started and you're already talking about ending the show. And what flaws are you talking about? You're perfect." I chuckled.

Dahyun bowed her head slightly to hide her face which was turning red. "Well, I'm just putting it out there for you to know."

"I'll keep that it mind then. Don't worry. I'm here now." I told her as I held her hand slowly.

She then gave me a smile of her own. "How about you? What are your expectations?"

"Me? I just want you to be yourself when you're with me." I replied plainly.

She rolled her eyes. "Come on. Really? Anyone can do that."

I chuckled. "It's not as easy as it sounds. You see, people can become anyone they want once the spot light is on them. I don't want that from you. I want the REAL you. Even in front of the camera. You don't have to pretend to be anyone in front of me."

She looked at me as with eyes that were filled with deep sadness. I wanted to know why that was. BUt she just looks saw beautiful. "Oppa…"

"What do I do Dahyun-ie?" I asked out of the blue.

Her look of sadness turned into one of curiosity. "What do you mean?"

"What do I do?" I asked again as I slowly took her hand and held it gently. "I think I'm starting to fall for you."

Her eyes slowly widened in surprise as she tried to speak but couldn't just as she was about to respond we were then brought back to reality by a bunch of applause.

"Cut! That's it for today! Great job everyone!" The director yelled as everybody gave an applause.

We were finally done filming We Got Married for today. The director then approach us and told us that they will give us a heads up about the next time we will be filming. It might even be a surprise. She then congratulated us over our virtual marriage and reminded us about a few things outside the show, like no dating other people to make the marriage legit, being okay to talk about it on shows and other things. It still feels like a dream though.

"You guys were a natural. The producers really did a good job in pairing you two up. Great job! We'll be heading out in a few once we're done with the packing. JayB-ssi, you have a car, right? Why don't you take her with you?" The director suggested.

"Ah! It's okay. My manager's here so I'll just go with her." Dahyun insisted.

I chuckled at her. "Come on. Don't get embarrassed by our marriage. It's fine. I'll ask permission to drive you home."

"Stop it." She gritted her teeth as she whispered to me while maintaining her smile.

What's wrong with her? Just before I could clarify it, her manager interrupted us. "Excuse me? Dahyun-ah? You need to get back now. There are some changes on the schedule."

"Noona, is it okay if I'd be the one to drive her back?" I smiled at her manager.

The manager turned to Dahyun as if she was waiting on her for something. "Ah? We are actually in a hurry. Maybe next time, JayB-ya."

I was confused at why she was so adamant on avoiding that free ride. "But…"

"I have to go now. It was really nice being with you today, JayB-oppa." She quickly cut off before dragging her manager with her.

What's wrong with her?

My phone started ringing as soon as she left. I quickly glanced at who was calling and saw that it was Matt-hyung. "Hyung, what's up?"

"Did I disturb you? I heard from Ming Do-hyung that you just finished filming for the first part of the episode." He excitedly said.

"Yeah. We just finished filming. My wife just left." I nonchalantly said.

I could hear loud squealing and screaming from the other end of the line. I held it away from my ear. After it settled down, I quickly yelled back. "Ya! Am I on loud speaker or something?! And is somebody else there? That was definitely a woman's scream unless Jiwoo-ya did it."

"Hyung! What the hell?!" Jiwoo retorted.

"Hi JayB-oppa!" A woman's voice sounded.

"Lisa-ya? Why are you there? Where are you guys? Shouldn't you be practicing by now?" I asked.

Matt-hyung chuckled. "Ya… what time do you think it is? It's WAY past lunch time. We're on break from practice. Some of the members of Twice are here together with Yuna-ya and my fiancé."

"Ya… it's embarrassing…" Lisa complained in a cute way which made the others tease them further.

"Anyway, hyung! How was it? How was your first date with Dahyun-ah?" I could feel the excitement coming from Zee's voice.

I raised my brow as I quickly switched it to a video call. "Ya… how did you know it was her?"

"We told them." Sana-ya said as she smirked.

I sighed. "So you guys knew the entire time?"

Jeongyeon giggled. "Not the entire time. We found out two days ago when the crew came over to our dorm to deliver a red mailbox."

"Ah. It must have been at the same time as when I received it." I muttered.

Seiji-hyung then tried to fit himself into view. "Come home quickly! We want to hear it from you personally!"

I smiled wryly at him before sighing. It didn't escape Nayeon's eyes as she asked, "JayB-ya… everything okay?"

"Ah? It's nothing. It's just…" I paused for a while before sighing again.

Jeong Do became concerned. "I've never seen you sigh that much before. It must be something."

I gave a sad smile. "It's just… I wanted to bring Dahyun-ie…"

"She called her Dahyun-ie!" Chaeyoung squealed before she was shushed by the rest of them. This made me laugh a little.

I then continued to speak. "As I was saying… I wanted to give Dahyun-ie a ride back home. But she refused profusely. Even your manager said that you guys were really busy and they were in a hurry. Base on her reaction, I think she's avoiding me. I don't know. It's probably just me."

"Schedule? All our schedules today were cancelled. All we had to do today was prepare for our stage mix." Jihyo answered.

I raised my eyebrow. "That's weird. I'm pretty sure that's what your manager said."

"Don't think much about it JayB-oppa. Why don't you just come to the studio and we'll talk more about it?" Sana suggested.

"Alright. I'll be right there." I answered.

____________

"That sounded great Dahyun-ie. Can you try it again one more time? A little bit slower this time." I said as I instructed her from the recording booth.

We were now recording the final stage mix overlay for tomorrow's comeback. Based on how everyone was doing, I could say that they were in perfect condition. In fact, I could say that they were going to do amazing in tomorrow's stage comeback. The music video was released yesterday and it gained a lot of positive feedback, but it only pressured the girls even more. Good thing PD-nim stepped up to remind them about not overthinking things.

Right now, everyone was finished with their recording except for Dahyun who was having trouble with her parts. Although her parts were easy, she was pretty much uncomfortable about it. Why? Because the crew for We Got Married is here with us and are filming how we interact while working. She was pretty much nervous the entire time.

"How was that?" She asked as soon as she finished her part. I couldn't respond at first because I was busy cleaning her voice with the tools.

After a few seconds I turned to her and smiled. "Just like you, it's perfect. Why don't you come out now?"

She bit her lip as she turned red from the embarrassment. The rest of Twice were already done with the recording so they went back to the studio to rehearse for the next few hours. Some of them were so excited that they still had a lot of energy. Others just wanted to get rid of the nerves by practicing. Alpha was also doing the same as they were in the clubhouse practicing our routine. So right now, it was just me and Dahyun in the studio.

I just finished on the preparations as I rendered the file. After which, I sat down on the couch with a deep sigh as I massaged my neck. Dahyun joined me as she sat beside me and offered me some water.

"You did great today." She said as she handed me some water while wiping off my sweat.

"I should be saying that to you." I chuckled as I got the small towel from her hands.

"Thanks. I'm actually really nervous about tomorrow." She admitted as she played with her thumbs.

I placed my arm over her as I used my other hand to hold her hand. "I know you'll do great. You always do."

"How sure are you with that?" She raised her brow at me.

I scoffed. "Oh come on. I've been watching you guys perform since day zero."

She then leaned closer as she narrowed her eyes at me. "You've been watching 'us'? Who were you watching exactly?"

I rolled my eyes before pinching her nose. "You, silly."

She rubbed her nose. "You're a smooth talker."

"That's probably why you like it." I smirked.

"Whatever. Anyway, will you be there at our performance tomorrow?" She asked as she changed the topic.

I sighed deeply. "I want to... REALLY, I do. But we've got practice tomorrow, and I still have my drama to film, MIXNINE's still there, plus, we still have practices for our comeback. So…"

"You can't make it. I understand." She said as she turned her gaze to the ground as she nodded slowly.

"I'm sorry…" I sincerely whispered to her.

She forced a smile before turning her attention towards me. "It's alright. We ARE idols after all so it's part of the job. Maybe some other time then?"

"Of course! I'll beg PD-nim if I have to." I chuckled as I tried to salvage the situation.

"Thank you. That means a lot." She said as she patted my hand.

"And… cut! Great job!" The director yelled.

We were finally done for the day. But something weird happened. As soon as the cameras stopped rolling Dahyun quickly let go of my hand and left the room without saying anything. I was surprised. It's as if her personality changed in a snap of a finger. I was about to follow her when the director stopped me.

"We're still on for tomorrow, right?" She asked.

I nodded. "Of course. I actually don't have anything to do tomorrow since it's our day off."

"Great! We've already booked a vacant dressing room away from Twice's dressing room so you can wait there." She excitedly said.

Actually, I lied to Dahyun about my schedule for tomorrow. Just before I left Daegu earlier today, the director already informed me about tomorrow's surprise for my wife. I was going to surprise her after she performs on Music Bank. It was the only schedule they had tomorrow so we could still hang out with their members after the show. So the director grabbed the opportunity without hesitation.

"Yes, junmoonim. Thank you for today." I sincerely told her before turning my attention to the crew. "Great job everyone! I lent my card to the secretary, so enjoy your late dinner. It's on me!" I yelled as I immediately dashed out of the room to head to Twice's practice room.

Upon arriving, I peeked through the glass door to see if they were practicing. Seeing that most members were lying down on the floor, I assumed that they were on break. I excused myself as I entered their room. As soon as I did, the teasing and the squealing started.

"Dahyun-ah… you're husband's here." Nayeon teased while bumping her shoulder with Dahyun.

Dahyun sighed before she stood up. She then grabbed me by the wrist while dragging me outside. The teasing went on until we were outside the room. She then snapped her head towards me. "What the hell are you doing here? Aren't we done with filming?"

I was so confused with how she was treating me. "Dahyun-ie… I just came to-"

"Don't call me that. We're not filming anymore. Just go with how you usually call me." She interjected.

I chuckled dryly. "What's wrong with calling you that? Shouldn't I be doing that? After all, you ARE my virtual wife."

She sighed before crossing her arms. "That's what I am. A VIRTUAL wife. Which means, when the cameras are off, we are back to normal. Do you understand, oppa?"

"I DON'T understand. Why are you acting like this? I thought we were okay already? Were you just pretending this entire time?" I asked with a confused look on my face.

She scoffed. "That's right. It was really difficult to do so. So please don't make this any harder for me."

She was about to go back inside when I grabbed her wrist. "Why are you doing this? What did I ever do to you?"

She shook my hand away forcefully. "Don't make me the bad person here. YOU'RE the one with the 'mystery girl'."

My jaw fell wide open. "THAT's what this is about? Dahyun-ie I-"

"Just stop. Okay? Let's just be friends off camera. Please…" There was a tinge of sadness in her voice.

Not willing to fight this out any longer. I gave her a reassuring smile. "Alright. I understand."

I then turned around to leave. Somehow, the perfect marriage that I had dreamt of just started crumbling into pieces before it actually truly began.
