Silver Eyes

"What's that about?" Yang asked as she stared at the golden page hovering in front of Ruby. Blake, Summer and Fairy also looking on with interest.

"It's… a page from Arthur's book?" she said, "It shows me things about myself and says I can 'access the basic functions of the Tome' and there's like four different things but one of them it 'locked'" She answered, scratching her head in confusion as she began to read through the page again "It even shows my age height, and… bust?" tilting her head in confusion she turned to Yang and saw her put her hands to her chest a squeezed down on her own bust.

"O-oh…" Ruby muttered her face turning red in realization. "I-it also tells my semblance and my… skills? Along with another thing called 'abilities', I also have titles… what's a 'Silver Eyed Warrior'? Does it have to do with my eyes? And what's with the ability? 'Silver Light'?" she questioned aloud, causing Summer's eyes to widen in surprise and let out an "Eh?" causing both Ruby and Yang to turn to her, while Blake pinched her chin and began to think..

"Mom? Do you know what a 'Silver Eyed Warrior' is?" Ruby questioned, immediately followed by Yang's own question "Yeah, does it have anything to do with the eye lasers Ruby did during initiation?"

"Uhhh… Haaaa…" Summer sighed and began to scratch her head, "Let's sit down first" she said taking a seat against a tree, waiting until Yang and Blake had sat down before she began to speak, while waiting for them Fairy had crawled her way onto Summer's lap with a bright smile.

"You all know about the origin of our shattered moon right?" she asked, getting nods from Ruby, Yang and Blake while Fairy tilted her head slightly while looking up at her.

Giving Fairy a small smile she began to speak, "Well, it starts with two brothers, the elder brother, the god of light, who created all the life on our world and brought about everything good and his younger brother, the god of darkness, the creator of death and the one who ultimately shattered the moon."

"You see, in the light, the elder brother created plants, animals and quenched the lands in water, but at night the younger brother brought about destruction through the creation of fire, famine and granted death upon all life. Yet one day, the younger brother did something, something that would forever plague the world, he created the creature of grimm." She said going silent and letting her words sink in before continuing.

"After his younger brother created the grimm, the elder brother came to him to finally bring an end to their war, proposing to his brother to create one last thing together, and that is when humanity was born." She explained to Fairy who was entranced by the story.

"Together the two brothers watched humanity grow, they watched humanity grow into warriors, farmers and kings they watched them build castles and cities, but eventually everything came tumbling down as humanities lust for power brought them to war with the two brothers, yet no matter how strong humanity was, they couldn't stand up to the two gods as the younger brother quickly destroyed every human on our world before abandoning our world, shattering our moon as they left."

"And yet, humanity still returned to our 'Remnant' of a world yet we were not the same, we had lost something, something that made us creations of the gods, what this is unknown to us, but I have heard that some believe we had lost 'magic', the ability to control the world around us to create and throw fire from the air, and to fly without wings, we had lost a part of ourselves"

"Eventually, this hole would be filled with something new, where we lost magic, our souls began to thrive, eventually granting us our auras and semblances, something 'special' a uniqueness exclusive to a single person or family, some gained the power to create and control shadows, some invisibility others speed faster than the eye can blink, all of this originating from a single thing, our souls." She said putting her hand to her chest; Fairy copied her and put her hand to her chest only to tilt her head in confusion.

"And yet, for some, a very small population of our world at that, they had something else, they had a 'gift' a gift granted long after the gods had abandoned us, yet long before kings began to rule and humanity came to form cities and villages, there were children, children with silver eyes"

"These children, as they grew would learn of a special power only they had, a power created to challenge the growing hordes of grimm, a power capable of destroying legions of grimm in seconds." Snapping her fingers with a loud snap.

"The power of the silver eyes" her eyes began to slightly glow, "This power terrified the grimm, yet these children were not only special because of their powers, they were also the strongest warriors humanity had ever had, where a single soldier could kill ten grimm, a silver-eyed warrior could kill one hundred. Where ten men were required to fight a goliath, a single silver-eyed warrior would be enough" Fairy's eyes now sparkling as she listened to her.

"And yet, over time these warriors began to disappear, fading away until they became nothing but a myth, a legend told to children about a race of legendary warriors, the guardians of humanity, a fantasy for their children to aspire to become, long forgotten are the names of the warriors that sacrificed themselves for humanity, their light all but snuffed from memory"

"And that is what we are; we are some of the last remaining members alive from a clan of ancient warriors, the mortal enemies of the grimm." Summer finished her story and looked to Ruby with a light smile.

"That, that is, I've heard the stories, but for them to actually be true? I could have never imagined" Blake said disbelief evident on her face.

"My little sister is from an ancient race of warriors… huh, somehow, that doesn't affect me as much as Arthur being able to transform his arm into a giant claw, huh…" Yang said scratching her head.

Ruby, unlike Blake and Yang was silent and began to think, getting more excited as she thought, "So, I can really fire laser beams from my eyes? That is so cool! How do I do it? Do I have to squint really hard?" Ruby began to squint, to which nothing happened.

Palming her face Summer let out a sigh "That's what you got from that? Fair enough, I was just as excited when I learnt about it."

"Somethings not sticking right with me…" Blake said getting Summer to look to her "If these warriors were so powerful, why are they nothing but myths?" she asked.

Thinking for a bit Summer said "Honestly, I don't know, maybe there was a threat that wiped out all the warriors at once, maybe humanity decided to kill them once they were strong enough that they no longer needed the warriors to defend them. But even then, I would also expect there to be more of us out there, but there aren't." she said

"Since I first became a huntress I have met exactly one other silver eyed warrior, an old lady named Maria Calavera, I met her a year before you were born Ruby, I was on a mission to Mistral where I met her while I was passing through a small village on my way to Argus, it was under siege by Grimm and I ended up using my power, which she noticed and began to explain to me, and taught me how to better control it, that is also where she told me why she thinks there are so few Silver-Eyed Warriors left, she believes that there is someone or something is actively hunting us down" She explained.

"Something hunting you down? Something like the grimm?" Blake postulated.

"Yes, most likely, something more specialized I'd assume" Summer replied "Something more dangerous" her hands clenched tightly together turning them white, seeing this Fairy placed her hands atop Summer's whose arms were wrapped around her belly. Looking down to Fairy's hand Summer gave her a small smile and kissed the back of her head as a thank you, her hands loosening and unclenching. As a dark atmosphere came over the group.

"Anyways, I think that's enough story time for today, shall we get some lunch?" Summer asked, and as if to confirm the fact Fairy's stomach let out a growl causing Summer to chuckle in response "I'll take that as a yes" and stand up with Fairy in her arms.

Blake, could you please get the wheelchair?" she asked, getting a quick nod from Blake who walked over to and brought Summer the wheelchair where she placed Fairy. "Yang, could you and Blake take Fairy and go on ahead?" She asked.

"Sure" Yang answered looking to Ruby who was beginning to get up, "Let's go" she said to Blake and began to walk towards the dining hall with Blake pushing Fairy's wheelchair.

"Ruby, our eyes are a dangerous thing, we may have an amazing power but we are vulnerable, we can only ever use our power when in the presence of Grimm, if you fight a human or a faunus, your eyes will not work. Our eyes are also a burden upon us, using it drains you of energy, much faster than using your semblance does. So please, please, never, ever use it unless you absolutely have to, if you can, not even then. I will help you learn to control it so when you do ultimately have to use it, you can use it to its fullest, okay?" Summer said her hands atop Ruby's shoulders and looking into her eyes.

"I-I understand mom" Ruby answered, both nervous and excited at the same time.

"Good" Summer said and gave Ruby a tight hug which Ruby returned.

"We should tell Arthur as well, and Weiss" Ruby said

"Arthur already knows" Summer replied

"Wait, what?" Ruby muttered, separating from Summers hug and looking to her in surprise.

"One Soufflé and an iced coffee." Marion said placing down a fluffy gold soufflé and iced coffee on the table in front of a mint green haired girl. "Anything else I can get for you?" Marion asked.

"Actually yeah, I'm looking for a boy, you wouldn't happen to have seen him around would you?" Emerald asked as she pulled out her scroll opening it to a close up of Arthur with pitch black hair and white highlights. "He's a childhood friend and I'd heard he was in Vale currently."

Leaning down to take a better look Marion's eyes widened for a moment before saying "Hmm, that looks like Arthur, though he didn't have black hair, wonder if he dyes it? Well anyways, he's a first year at Beacon, just a year earlier than my daughter. He's came in a yesterday with my daughter and her partner along with a little orphan girl who he treated like a fairy for a few hours before she went back to the orphanage, how unfortunate that it burnt down the same day, but I hear that she's safe and resting at Beacon along with Arthur." Marion said.

"The fire? I heard about that, the strange black flames that don't spread or damage whatever it's on as well as don't seem to stop burning" Emerald said.

"Oh yes, tragic thing that, apparently there was a gas explosion mixed with some type of chemical resulting in it, though, I have had numerous people in today saying the fire was an indication of the return of the god of darkness." She said "Anyways, I need to get back to work, please enjoy" and gave emerald a small bow and began to walk away.

"Good with children is he? Well, I've got just the thing" Emerald said with a wide grin as she pulled out her scroll and called Cinder, "His name is Arthur, didn't get a surname, also didn't get anything on the fire, he's good with children apparently, particularly the ones down on their luck, and he's a first year at Beacon, what do you want me to do?" she went quiet as she listened to Cinder on the other side.

"Got it, I'll call you once I've got him"
