Easy Hog Kill

Eden spent the next few weeks practicing his spells to the point where he could cast without saying any words. He spent his time diligently working on the sculptures to control the amount of mana he would have to exert when casting spells. He would induce panic to the the nearby squirrels using his Moonlight Reflection skill. He would blind the squirrels and watch as they scurry away as fast as they can running into trees along the way.

He would spend his nights using the Moonlight Aura skill to hide while scouting for any potential dangers. Headmaster Oak and Eden were in a relatively safe location. The only skill that Eden was not able to practice much on was the Moonlight Heal skill. Eden did not want to abuse an animal so that he could test out that skill. He was however, able to heal any minor scratches and bruises he had obtained while practicing the other two skills. His only regret right now is that the moonlight practitioner did not have any offensive skills. It was a shame the diary did not have any more skills. Eden would have to begin crafting his very own skills since he did not have much knowledge to lean on.

Besides Entangle, Eden did not have a single offensive skill, he did not really have a skill that could inflict a heavy amount of damage. He did not come across any other skills within the diary, however, Eden did gain some insight on the user after reading the diary.

The moonlight trait user was named Mesiac. Mesiac was a thief from five hundred years ago. He would use his skills at night in order to pillage peoples homes. He would use the Moonlight reflection skill to run away if he ever got caught as no one would expect to see such a bright light in the middle of the night. His last entry was an attempt to steal an item from the Fjord Family in the Morata Kingdom.

Eden did not want to live a life of thievery so he vowed to live completely differently from Mesiac.

"Eden, you have practiced your skills and gained a great amount of insight in them these past two weeks. To truly obtain growth you must be able to slay beasts and fight. For the next few days we'll have you go deeper into the forest here where there most beats lay. Try to cleanly kill these beasts so that we can obtain their cores."

All magical beasts have cores with properties in them that may assist an elemental in growth. Elementalists can obtain further powers and skills by absorbing cores from a beast that have the same magical attributes as the user. For example. someone with a affinity to the wind element may be able to gain additional strength by absorbing the beast core of a Tempest Horse. There are even rare cases where a high tier magical beast which may have a unique trait leaves behind a beast core that could provide the Elementalist with a unique trait of their own. There was a story about a Tier 4 Wind Element User who was able to absorb a Champion Thunder Bird's core and gain the ability to cast lightning trait spells. Attempts to gain unique traits this way were still difficult, one would only have a .0001% chance of gaining a unique trait through a beast core. Only the wealthy could take this chance as they had the most resources.

Like Elementalists, magic beasts have rankings in strength as well, ranging from normal, evolved, champion, king, calamity.

"Eden, as far as I know this forest only contains normal magical beasts. If you somehow run into anything higher do not engage and run back to me."

It was getting late into the evening when Eden saw his first magic beast, an Earth Hog, normal beast. The Earthen Hog could use earth spells. It was known for its use of the spell Earth Armor, which would allow it to create an armor of earth around itself and subsequently attack by ramming into its opponent.

Eden used his Moonlight Aura to hide himself as he approached the hog. He casted entangle. Before the Hog could even react, vines reached out from the earth and tied it up and raised it in the air. The Earth Hog casted Earth Armor on itself to protect its body and head. By doing this it restricted its vision. A weakness of the Earth Armor was the creation of blindspot. This blindspot was right where below the

Eden was ready for the Earth Armor, he appeared from right under the Earth Hog and aimed his Moonlight Reflection right at the two holes that the hog used for eyes. The hog was shrieking as it was blinded by the intense light. PANIC!

In this moment of panic, Eden took out his sword and stabbed it into the right eye of the hog. SQUEE! SQUEE! SQUEE! Eden took out the sword and stabbed it in the other eye. This time, Eden pushed the sword all the way in order to end the hog's life.

The hog went limp as its earth armor fell apart. Unable from the beginning to defend itself at all.

"Success!" cheered Eden proudly. This was his first kill. He felt bad about taking a beasts life, but Old Man Oak explained to him this is a world of the strong, the only way to stop someone was to be stronger than them. That is how beasts live and that is how we should live. We must grow strong to protect the things we love.

"Bravo my child. Your first kill, I hope you remember this. Your strategy was flawless, especially the use of the blindspot caused by Earth Armor. The Earth Hog had barely anytime to react." admired Old Man Oak. "Keep in mind that higher level beasts may be able to detect your presence when using your Moonlight Aura skill. You must continually think of better ways to fight so you wont be stuck in a situation where you presence is detected. I will now extract the core, it is yours. You can use it to cultivate and gain an increase in power for your earth elements."

My setting up was a tad slower than I wanted it to be, I know it feels like nothing had happened the last few chapters and it was just laying it out. Things begin to unfold a bit more in these upcoming chapters.
