Carson had been freaking out about accidentally thinking Ivy's beanie was cute, which she found amusing until his thoughts seemed like he was worried about her knowing. That drained all of the amusement right out of her.
Impossible. No one had ever figured out her secret unless she told them directly and that had never ended well. He was probably worried about her noticing a weird look on his face or something.
She managed to dismiss it until they were waiting for their food in the restaurant because his thoughts were bombarding her. 'Ivy Ivy Ivy Ivy Ivy Ivy Ivy Ivy Ivy Ivy Ivy Ivy Ivy Ivy…' He repeated her name mentally for a solid thirty seconds.
She nearly choked on her soda. It was difficult not to react when someone said your name that many times in a row.
"Are you okay?!" Carson asked in a panic, abandoning his mental stream of 'Ivys'.
"I'm fine," she coughed. "It went down the wrong pipe. Happens all the time."
