Please Smile

Lyn edged closer to Kazuya, what a mysterious person. Their meeting was rather abrupt, and things progressed rather quickly. But every day since Kazuya came here she's had an enjoyable time. Every day is so much fun, but since he arrived, she always ends up distracted. She keeps neglecting her training and things she commonly thinks about deeply have slipped her mind. The General already lectured her for neglecting training, but for the later, the General told her that's good. Apparently, she's always had a lot on her mind, leading to carrying a heavy burden. Lyn didn't understand it too much, but she supposes it made sense. Kazuya's presence for her is like a ray of hope, though if Allen heard her say that he would call her ridiculous again. Come to think of it; somebody showed her the stars once like this before.

Who was it again? It was a long time, but somebody showed her such a beautiful sight. Though she had a vague recollection of the memory, Lyn's never forgotten the beautiful view she saw that day. Maybe if she asked Kazuya, he would help her find the place. Though she forgot about it this whole time, after seeing this sight it stirred up some old feelings.

Lyn's gaze fell on Kazuya who suddenly turned quiet, noticing a solemn gaze on his face. She frowned, how long has he been like that? Since she realized that Kazuya carries heavy burdens, Lyn has done her best to make him happy. But she supposes it isn't enough; there's still a lot of things she doesn't know about him. There are still a lot of things she needs to learn.

Kazuya finally noticed her looking and asked awkwardly, "Uhhh, Lyn? What is it?"

'Don't mope around; it doesn't do you much good. Crying fixes nothing

A long time ago she said those words to somebody, and indeed she thinks the same even now. Lyn understands that sadness is something a person can't control. No matter what, if something happens whether or not it's a traumatizing event. A person can't control their emotions; that's fine. That's not what she meant by her statement. It's okay to be sad; it's okay to shed tears. But a person has to have the courage to stand back on their own two feet.

"Lyn, you know you're too close," Kazuya's sentence broke her thoughts. But Lyn simply leaned in; further, a lot of things have happened since she met this person. During the little time, they have left together, a lot more things will happen.

"I want you to smile Kazuya," Lyn declared, to prove her point she reached over towards Kazuya's face and pulled the corner of his lips to a smile, "Hmm, this isn't working.."

"Hey—hey now."

Lyn frowned, doesn't this usually work? Turning the frown upwards. She hears Kazuya sigh, "Gee Lyn, I don't know what you're doing, but if you distract me so much. We're going to fall off."

It was then the Princess realized that the carpet seemed to edge sideways and Lyn exclaimed loudly, "Wahh.."

Kazuya reached over and pulled her into his embrace, Lyn looked over at him confused, "If you're going to distract me, anyway. I'd rather we would be hugging."

Lyn didn't know why but whenever Kazuya 'hugged' her; she felt it was different from the hugs she gave the General and Pupillary. She doesn't understand it well though, why does she get this way when she's around Kazuya. Then again, Lyn noticed that she experiences many different feelings when she's around him. Lyn hugged him tighter, "Kazuya, I'm very comfortable when I'm with you like this."

She didn't see the need to hide something obvious.

Kazuya, however, didn't respond to that, he seemed to be in deep thought. Maybe he doesn't like it when she's this straight forward like this? The General told her once that her honesty can be a double-edged sword. At the time she didn't understand what he meant, but now she does. Even then she wants to convey her thoughts to Kazuya, "Kazuya," Lyn called out, he looked over at her, "Have you heard of the saying happiness comes to those people who smile?"

Her words must have hit a nerve since she noticed his dazed expression vanish.

"I don't necessarily agree with that statement. After all, anyone can mask a smile. It's easy. How is it considered happiness if a person isn't genuinely happy? So how do we distinguish between those who are genuine and those who aren't? That's easy," Lyn wrapped her arms around his neck, as she whispered softly, "We learn and get to know the person, we stay by their sides. Kazuya, let me learn more about you."

Since Kazuya came here, a lot has changed. Lyn learned many things she didn't know about herself. He has taught and shown her many things.

"Even if my past is something harmful?" Kazuya asked.

Lyn smiled, "I don't mind. I'll accept everything about you Kazuya."

She will accept everything about him, so please smile Kazuya. A genuine smile. Since their first meeting he's always smiling, but there's actually only a few occasions where she felt that smile was genuine. Most of the time it looks like he's suffering a great deal. That's why, Lyn wants to create more occasions, more memories with him so he could smile properly. So he could feel happiness, the happiness he's taught her.

Kazuya brushes his lips against her ear, "You defeated me."

......

When Kazuya landed abruptly like that despite them not being close to the palace, Lyn immediately knew something was amiss, but she said nothing and continued to follow Kazuya. He was squeezing her hand so tightly. It's painful, but he seems very distressed now. She followed his hurried footsteps until they arrived at an old shrine, Kazuya undoes the rusted bolt in a second and quickly closed the door.

"Kazuya?"

Kazuya grabbed hold of her shoulders and looked at her with a serious look, "Listen to me Lyn; there are assassins," Ehhh? Lyn saw that Kazuya wore a grim expression on his face, "Sorry, I should have been more careful. It's no wonder they don't let you out at night even for a stroll."

Assassins, after her? But she sensed nothing harmful directed at her. Since earlier though her heart felt heavy because she felt the dark vibes around Kazuya grow. Lyn thought that was simply due to Kazuya's present mood. But she was wrong, Lyn grabbed hold of him, "Wait, I don't think I'm the target."

Kazuya seemed to understand where she was coming from since he didn't question her. Kazuya nodded, "Then, I'll go. Since it's me, they want."

But something seems wrong here, why would people try to attack Kazuya when she's around? If her theory is right, these people have no malice towards her. Think Lyn, think. What's wrong here?
