Chapter 45: Descisions made

Returning to the Kudo Mansion, Conan is done having his woman become punching bags or targets of the organization. Having everybody assembled in the library, to discuss and brainstorm on how to deal with the looming threat of the organization, Conan is surprised to see Ran already out of the hospital.

Knowing that she only hours before was about to die thanks to Pisco stabbing her with a poisoned knife, his mind has one thing less to worry about. Having his wife place next to him with the help of her mother, Conan begins the meeting by handing Sato her pendant saying. ''Since everybody has accepted you as their sister, you are now officially part of the family.''

Taking the coin pendant consisting of a leather strap and a silver coin with the number four engraved in it, Sato instantly puts it on. Looking around at her now sisters she is a bit surprised to discover very similar pendants around all the woman's necks, as they proudly present theirs to her. Feeling happy to be accepted by everyone, as she is and not be judged for her sexual needs, the always serious police officer can't stop her tears of happiness from running down her face.

''Oh, please don't cry...'' Says Erin, the first to welcome her sister into the family. Having known from the beginning that she had to share her lover not only with her own daughter but also another woman, Erin is more than pleased with Sato joining them. In her mind, Sato not only closes the age gap between herself and the others but is also able to support Conan in ways she herself and the others can't. ''... Otherwise, I will also start crying.''

Smiling while stopping her tears from falling, Sato asks Conan. ''Thanks for everything. What do we do now?''

'' Let's have all sex together!...'' States Ran, ending the very emotional situation with a joke. Having everybody laughing, she makes a disgruntled face, saying. ''... That wasn't meant as a joke!''

This comment is only followed by more laughter from everyone. As everybody calms down once again, Conan announces. ''So, Sato, or should I from now call you Minato?...''

Blushing, Sato tells him, in a shy voice. ''Sato is fine. Everybody calls me Sato. What am I supposed to call you? By now it is obvious to me that Jaquess Ferrusi is just an alias!''

''Originally he was Shinichi Kudo, but now we all call him Conan Casanova!'' Explains Erin, Sato.

''Shinichi Kudo? The Modern-day Sherlock Homes?...'' Asks Sato totally surprised before realizing how stupid her question is, after seeing Ai transform into Shiho and back. ''... Has everybody these kinds of abilities?''

''No. Currently, only Conan and I have them...'' Explains Ai, before further stating. ''... Well, technically Erin also has one and Sonoko might also have one.''

Heating a name she is unfamiliar with Sato asks. ''Sonoko?''

''My best friend and also one of our horny lover's woman...'' Explains now Ran, before complaining. ''... How come only Sato and I don't have abilities? Do you want us to be bullied by the bad guys? I mean I nearly died today not having any!''

''Relax Ran. Having a useless ability like mine isn't that great?'' Says tells Erin her daughter, calming the angry girl down.

Surprised to learn that the Queen of the Courtroom also has an ability, Sato asks Erin. ''What kind of ability do you have?''

''Fertility...'' Comments Ai before Erin can answer first. ''... If you ever need to repopulate the planet, she is the woman for the job. She not only can get constantly pregnant, but she also can give birth infinitely.''

Hearing that explanation, Sato gulps hard, while avoiding direct eye contact with Erin and bushing like a tomato.

Ending the woman's ramblings Conan asks Ai. ''Since we are already on the topic of abilities... Ai, how far along is your research regarding the APTX drugs... Can you sure us that they are saved?''

Having everyone's eyes turned to her, Ai begins to stutter saying. ''Yes,... well that is... something I... wanted to talk... to you about...'' Taking out the hard drive she stole from Pisco, she continues explaining. ''... Up until now... I was able to drastically lower... the mortality rate... by studying parts of... our DNA... With this...'' She waves the hard drive before proudly announcing. ''... I think I can even target specific abilities in human DNA by using a specific APTX cocktail.''

''What does that mean?'' Asks Ran, totally confused by Ais stuttering explanation.

Before Ai is able to get angry Conan tries to rephrase Ais explanation by saying. ''What Ai wants to say is the drugs are less risky and she thinks she is now able to give any one of us a specific set of abilities. Am I right, Ai?'' Nodding, Ai wordlessly confirms his words.

Totally unable to follow the conversation about abilities and mortality rates, Sato is able to stop her head from spinning, just in time to hear Ran proudly proclaim. ''Great! I want to be Wonder Woman!''

While Ran, Erin, Ai, Sato, and Conan are discussing abilities, the already powered up Sonoko finds herself wounded in a dirty and stinking alleyway. Having killed the third man that raped her, she still has no clue where her mother and sister are held captive but is currently dealing with a gunshot wound.

Having her brain evolved in strange ways, Sonoko is able to suppress the pain and move forward. As she finds her way to an already closed for the pharmacy, she uses the last of her energy reserves to power up her ability and teleports inside the store. Being unable to reach her intended location behind the counter because of her excessive loss of blood, she teleports directly in front of a tower of first aid kits.

Unable to keep herself on her feet, Sonoko loses any strength in her legs. Falling forward the moment her ability stops, she instantly poppers over into the tower of stacked first aid kits. Clawing her way behind the counter, Ai spots what she needs in the first row of shelves.

Taking out a scalpel, some bandages, disinfectant alcohol, tweezers, needles, thread, and a mirror, Sonoko drags herself below the security lighting. Undressing from the waist upwards, she removes her jacket, shirt, and bra. Feeling her field of vision get blurry, she is still able to make out the gunshot wound just below her rib cage on her left side.

Turning off any pain receptors in her body, Sonoko starts treating herself. Using the alcohol to clean her wound and equipment, she uses the tweezers to remove the bullet. Internally she is amazed that the bullet didn't hit her heart, as it is located only five centimeters higher than the gunshot wound.

Using the mirror and the barely adequate security lighting, Sonoko is able to remove the bullet after five minutes that felt like an eternity poking around in her belly. Pulling the bullet out of her body fresh blood instantly leaves her body. Unable to keep herself from feeling the pain, she starts screaming, as pain could her logic and rational mind. Keeping herself from losing her consciousness, Sonoko uses the pain to keep herself awake.

Half an hour later she is finally done treating herself from a gunshot wound. Taking a sip of disinfectant alcohol, she touches the red pendant around her neck to remind herself of her goals. One day after her mother and sister where save and all the men where punished, she would return to Ran and Conan.

While Sonoko is treating her wound, the meeting in the library comes to an end, as Yusaku Kudo, the original Shinichi's father comes visiting his son. After the awkward message on the answering machine, Conan Casanova is unable to decide how to deal with this new father of his.

Having to head a great relationship with his father in his previous life, he, on the one hand, wants to have a supportive father, on the other, he also doesn't want to replace the father of his last life.

Reminding himself that he is much older than this new father of his, Conan cancels his body skill, while taking out his magic cube, remembering that Yusaku knows about his child appearance from Asaka.

Walking inside the now empty library the greets his new father by saying. ''Nice to have you here father...''
