Fan Chou who thought that everything was going smoothly, suddenly heard the sound of horses heading towards them and when he turned his head he saw cavalries charging toward them, when he commanded for defensive formation rain of arrows was shot down at his soldiers.
Fan Chou told his soldiers to stand their ground, the infantries to raise their shields, and the Cavalries to keep going protecting the Wagon. 4,000 cavalries left the area, guarding the wagons full of treasures not knowing that Lie Fan had cut off their route.
Fan Chou seeing the large numbers of the opposite soldiers knew that this would be a bloody war, Especially with the streets not that big limiting their mobility. Huang Zhong also realized this so he ordered Zang Ba to lead his cavalries to support Lie Fan.
Zang Ba led his 4,000 cavalries to catch up with Lie Fan, Fan Chou seeing that the cavalry was going through another street knew that they were targeting the wagons full of treasure.
He slowly leads his army to retreat walking backward, while warding off the attack from Lie Fan's soldiers. Dian Wei and Chao Bai were leading the infantry, together they led the charge in decimating many of Fan Chou's men.
Fan Chou saw that his soldiers whom he treated as his own brothers being massacred, felt angry but powerless as he knew that if they wanted to live, some sacrifices had to be made for the greater good.
Soon Taishi Ci, Fang Yue, and Ze Rong join the fray, causing Lie Fan's infantries to penetrate the defensive formation and rout the formation. Fan Chou is trying his best to order his soldiers to hold formation, but the chaos is too much, and the experienced Xiliang Army forgets their order.
Fan Chou was helpless as the Xikiang Soldiers he was proud of had lost their morale and backbone since Lu Bu was defeated at Hulao Pass and Hua Xiong slain at Sishui Pass.
Fan Chou decided to retreat, but it was too late as their army had been encircled. In the chaos, Huang Zhong sent some of the Infantries under Taishi Ci and Fang Yue to the other side, cutting them off completely.
Huang Zhong: "Surrender and you will be soared! I will count to three, the one who drops their weapons will be spared and the one resisting will be killed!"
Fan Chou: "Everyone don't listen to the enemy, keep fighting if you want to see your family, we still have the chance to get out!"
Huang Zhong: "Humph it's your choice! Everyone kills all of them until there's no one left!"
Under Huang Zhong's order, Lie Fan's soldiers began to aggressively attack Fan Chou and his soldiers. Fan Chou soldiers at first were resisting as best as they could, but when one person threw their weapons slowly the others followed suit.
It keeps going until Fan Chou is the only man holding his spear, looking on as all of his men either surrender or die. Fan Chou closed his eyes sadly, knowing that he had no chance, and thinking about his family he threw his weapon.
Huang Zhong sent Dian Wei and Taishi Ci to capture Fan Chou, Huang Zhong thinks that maybe Fan Chou can be persuaded to join Lie Fan. Having more general is better than having less general, Jia Xu looks on the battlefield and feels Fan Chou is familiar to him.
Jia Xu approached Fan Chou and realized that he was an acquaintance he made when he was still in his hometown in Liang Province when he was serving as an official there.
Fan Chou was at the time a commander who helped him in repelling the Xiongnu that were raiding Liang Province. Jia Xu then called Fan Chou's name and asked him if he remembered this old man, Fan Chou was silent for a while and realized that Jia Xu was an official he had worked with before in Liang Province.
So the two of them are conversing, and Jia Xu persuades him to change sides and join him in serving Lie Fan. Fan Chou at first doesn't accept, saying that he can't do that as his family is in Chang'An.
Jia Xu assured him that Lie Fan had the power to escort his family safely out of Chang'An, Jia Xu lastly said that serving Dong Zhuo with the situation right now is like waiting for death to come.
Fan Chou was silent for a while and finally reluctantly agreed, Jia Xu was happy and told him to swear his loyalty toward Lie Fan when they meet.
While all of this is happening, Lie Fan is bringing his Guad Battalion toward an open area like a square, where The Wagon will need to pass before they reach the western gate. Lie Fan ordered the Guard Battalion to hide in an ambush position, where they waited for the wagon to pass.
After waiting for about 10 minutes, they heard the sounds of horses galloping and wagons approaching their location. Lie Fan raises his hand and when a group of cavalries wants to pass through, Lie Fan drops his hand.
His soldiers raise a rope that tackles the horses, causing both the rider and the horse to fall down. Realizing that there was an ambush, the Cavalry began to enter an alert state, and Lie Fan took out his bow from the side of his horse.
The guard battalion also does the same, and under Lie Fan's command, they fire their arrows at Dong Zhuo's soldiers. Being shot by arrows, the Cavalries struggled for a while, and this time Lie Fan led the attack charging towards the Cavalries.
As the area is a big square, the Guard Battalion has more free mobility in attacking Dong Zhuo's cavalry soldiers. Lie Fan uses his full power, Killing the cavalry left and right, showing the power of a top general.
Soon Lie Fan was joined by Zang Ba and his units and attacked Dong Zhuo's cavalry from behind. With the pincer attack, Dong Zhuo's cavalry unit was defeated, and the treasures fell into Lie Fan's hand.
Lie Fan sees the amount of treasure Dong Zhuo collected, amounting to 4 big Wagons and this is only the last batch. From the 4,000 Xiliang Cavalry, only 1,000 survive the onslaught, and Lie Fan makes them a prisoner army just like the Yellow Turbans before.
Lie Fan feels that it's too late to chase Dong Zhuo, as Luoyang has been lit on fire showing that he has left first alongside Luoyang civilians, nobles, and lasly the Emperor.
Lie Fan lead his army and the prisoners, bringing the wagons to meet the rest of his unit that was battling Dong Zhuo's soldiers before.
On the other side of Luoyang, Chen Deng and Sun Jian are working together to put out the fire that was caused by Dong Zhuo. But the fires are too big, making them need more time to put out such a big fire and ensure that it doesn't spread to the other parts of Luoyang.
At this time, the rest of the Coalition Army finally arrived at the Eastern Part of Luoyang. Seeing the big fire that is happening right now, everyone is shocked and soon curses Dong Zhuo for doing such evil deeds.
Cao Cao immediately leads his soldiers to enter Luoyang, joined by Kong Rong, Liu Dai, Bao Xin, and Zhang Chao where they meet Sun Jian who is leading his men to put out the fire.
Seeing that reinforcements have finally arrived, Sun Jian shouts at them to help him put out the fire. With the cooperation of the other Coalition members, Chen Deng and Sun Jian managed to put out the fire that plagued the Eastern Part of Luoyang.
Unfortunately, the damage has been done and Luoyang's eastern parts are like war zones. This scene caused many of the soldiers to cry, as the impenetrable capital was reduced to this by Dong Zhuo's evil hand.
Chen Deng and Sun Jian soon join Cao Cao, Kong Rong, Liu Dai, Bao Xin, and Zhang Chao, to talk about what just happened and ask where is Lie Fan.
Chen Deng: "My Lord is chasing Dong Zhuo's soldiers who are fleeing Luoyang through the western gate, I think Dong Zhuo is relocating the Capital to Chang'An."
Cao Cao: "Damn it! This Dong Zhuo is truly despicable, does he really need to burn Luoyang to the ground?! If it weren't for Brother Lie Fan and Brother Wentai, all parts of Luoyang would already be on fire by the time we arrive!"
Kong Rong: "Such a magnificent city, the symbol of the Han Empire was reduced to this by Dong Zhuo, we should have listened to the three of you Cao Cao!"
Liu Dai: "It's already in the past, there's nothing we could have done. How about the people of Luoyang? Where are they?"
Sun Jian: "Looks like Dong Zhuo also broth the population of Luoyang to Chang'An, and from the bodies I found it looks like a forced evaluation for the people of Luoyang."
Zhang Chao: "Despicable! I should have followed Governor Lie Fan! Why don't we follow him right now, in case he needs any help?"
Zhang Chao's words received agreement from the others, only Chen Deng knew that Lie Fan was chasing the Dong Zhuo treasure unit, and from Lie Fan's personality, he would take hold of the treasure which could brand him as a traitor.
Chen Deng told them that the number of soldiers Lie Fan chased was not that big, numbered between 5,000 to 10,000 so everyone should be focused on how to govern Luoyang, rather than reinforcing Lie Fan where Lie Fan had finished the fight.
Chen Deng's suggestion holds some merit and everyone agrees with his suggestion, Cao Cao said that they should discuss this with the other Warlords who are waiting outside of Luoyang.
Chen Deng dismiss himself, saying that he will wait here with the soldier's Lie Fan left here to protect him and wait for Lie Fan. Cao Cao agree with what Chen Deng said, he isn't suspicious of him for a bit.
Back to Lie Fan, he finally regroups with the rest of his soldiers. There Jia Xu introduced Lie Fan to Fan Chou, hearing the name Lie Fan is familiar with this somewhat honorable man who was killed by Li Jue and Guo Si due to Li Jue's nephew.
Fan Chou approached Lie Fan and kneeled to him saying that he wanted to serve him swearing his loyalty towards him, he only asked for Lie Fan to help his family get out from Chang'An.
Lie Fan patted him on the shoulder, helped him stand up, and promised to help his family. Fan Chou was filled with gratitude and thanked Lie Fan, going on to the next problem how to handle the treasures.
Xun You calculated that by now, the Coalition Army should have arrived by now and stationed outside of Luoyang.
Jia Xu proposed that Fan Chou command the remnants of his unit, numbering about 3,000 men to head north, leaving Luoyang and going toward the harbor on the river boarding a ship and sailed toward Beihai, and from there he head towards Xiapi faster than the other coalition army.
