Mia

Chapter 1 – Mia

May 17th, 4518 A.D.

*Ziii*

In a kitchen, a pretty boy was frying eggs on a pan in his right hand, while his other hand picked up an apple from the cooling bucket nearby. The left hand squeezed the apple and crushed it into small pieces. Juices and small pieces of apple dropped down into another bucket nearby.

His left hand did not stop. He picked up another apple and repeated the same motion, and one more apple was crushed into pieces.

The sunny side eggs were cooked, and the pan in the hand of the boy tossed out the eggs into the air. They flew over the boy's head, made an arc, and then dropped down with the sunny side up on the plate on the dining table behind the boy.

"Young master Mia, don't throw around the food, please."

"Meh. Doing it normally is troublesome. Do it like this is more efficient."

The boy, Mia, pour some water on the pan to clean a few leftover pieces of eggs. He then threw away the wastewater into the sink. Afterward, he raised the fire on the stove and threw in vegetables, sauces, soup, and seasoning into the pan. The pan was shaken later to stir everything together.

After a few minutes of frying the vegetables, the boy spoke.

"Dana. Pass me the salmon, please."

A female android maid, who was standing beside the 100-cubic-feet refrigerator, opened the large door of the fridge. She grabbed a package of large raw salmon steak, unpacked it, and passed them over to the boy.

The housekeeper android was originally a gift from Mia's parents as they were worried about their son, who was living alone in a foreign country. However, it was unnecessary because Mia did all of his everyday housework by himself. As a result, Dana ended up being there as his assistant all the time.

"Thanks!"

Mia threw the raw salmon into the air. His left hand grabbed a kitchen knife nearby and waved it toward the fresh salmon. After images flashed at the midair salmon, which sliced it into small pieces. All of them dropped onto the pan.

"Actually, if young master wanted sliced salmons, you could have asked me to help you."

"Meh, it's faster doing it this way. Cooking should be done as quickly as possible, or I'll starve to death."

"It would also be faster if you use a blender for the apple juice."

"Meh. The juice will be too slimy. I like it with a few large apple pieces in it."

"Also, please refrain from your habitual speech. Your friends in the previous school bullied you and called you a goat because of it."

"… Meh."

Mia had a habit of speaking out the word "Meh" when he disagreed with something or complained about something. When he was little, his first word was actually "Meh" instead of "Mom" or "Dad," which was the reason that he was named "Mia."

7.30 AM.

Mia wore his high school uniform. It was a plain white long sleeve shirt and black pants. However, there were additional fancy bracers, chest guard, gloves, shin guards, boots, and a pressure-control helmet on top of the uniform. All of the equipment was glowing and glittering in a light blue color.

All of those fancy gadgets were made of LB-Series filament, which was a common material for civilian self-protection suit as it was light, yet more durable than steel. It was first found in the year 2700 when humanity began exploring the universe. It was published later for commoners to use in the year 2850 after one of the mining company managed to secure a concession to mine on the found planet.

After putting on all of the armor pieces, his original slim and 165cm-tall statue turned into a certain engineer in a deep space horror game. It was a flying suit for the civilian to use in this era.

Mia connected all parts together with a few wire connection. Then he gave out a voice command.

"Travel mode on."

[Travel Mode Confirmed. Air compression locked.]

With all of his preparation done, Mia picked up his prepared lunch box and shove it into his school bag. The view of the outside world came into his sight after he opened the front door.

Outside, there was nothing but sky and colossus poles with buildings on top of them. He was living on a building which was built on a gigantic grey pole. Below his house, it was the raging blue sea.

The earth axis had shifted a thousand years ago. The Southeast Asian countries sunk into the bottom of the sea alongside many western countries. The massive Atlantic Ocean became a new continent instead while the America continent turned into a small continent as its east coast also sunk into the sea.

Despite the loss of their homeland, the citizens of these countries did not give up. They had constructed these pole as preparation to save as many lives as possible. After the shift, they persisted on living these territories as these were their prided birthplace.

Years passed, some of the house owners left these pole-houses to board a space colony to find a better place to live. These places ended up being sold to wealthy families to use as their holiday resorts.

Mia's parents also bought one of the houses here as their resort. Now, Mia was staying here.

Mia turned his head around to check if there was any flying object nearby. Seeing that the sky was clear, he gave orders to his helmet.

"Scan for flight routes. Give me a free altitude and flight path to Chula High-School."

[Scanning …]

[Scanning completed. All flight courses have been updated.]

[List of Cleared Flight Path]

[1. Altitude 2,000 ft. Preset Route CHS-001.]

[2. Altitude 2,200 ft. Preset Route CHS-001.]

[3. Altitude …]

"Pick the first option. Set course to Chula High-School. Altitude 2,000 feet. Set speed to 200mph."

[Preset Route CHS-001, altitude 2,000 feet. Speed 200mph confirmed.]

The boot soles gave out a vacuum sound as they propelled Mia up into the air. After it raised him up to 2,000 feet above the water level, his entire body leaned forward, and the boots gave out a loud boom. Mia's body was launched at high speed.

After 10 minutes of flying, Mia landed on a small runway for students on the back of a school building. The signboard under the clock of the clock tower could be read "Chula High School."

Chula High School, located in the middle of the largest artificial island. It was the most advanced high-school in this country. The competition for getting in was fierce as only a hundred from ten thousand was accepted each year.

Mia was one of the students who managed to pass the brutal entrance exam with 99% scores. It was his first day of the new semester.

After the landing, Mia identified himself to the staff at the counter. Then, he was guided by an android into a large lounge.

It was a locker room for students who came to school via a flight suit. Each locker was 2 meters tall, one meter wide, and 1 meter in deep. It was enough to store Mia's flight suit into it.

Mia took off his helmet and gears, revealing his girly face and his long curly blond hair that touched his shoulder.

Five guys in the locker room were chatting and joking around glanced at Mia with his suit. Afterward, they continued talking because they did not care to pay any attention to him. However, when Mia took off his helmet, they had to turn around to look at Mia again in shock.

All of a sudden, the noisy locker room atmosphere became silent.

There was a reason for their surprise.

The locker rooms for students were separated by gender, and the place they were inside was a locker room for male students.

The long hair and girly face of Mia made them misunderstood that a girl was changing in the male locker room! From the five's perspective, no matter where they were looking at, all part of Mia body indicated that he was a girl.

Mia finished taking off his gears and turned around, only to find out that all eyes were fixated on his face and his body.

The socially awkward Mia was embarrassed by the stares. His face reddened while he tried to cover his face.

"Umm, please don't stare so much. I'm getting embarrassed."

His sweet melodious voice sounded out in the quiet room, which shook the heart of all listeners.

"I-I-I have found my true love …"

"T-This is an angel."

Two guys muttered by instinct. One guy held his left chest as if he had a heart attack. Another boy was still having a dumbstruck look while he was nose bleeding. The last dude knelt down and prayed to Mia as if he was a goddess on earth.

"Err. Excuse … me?" Mia tried to make a conversation in nervousness.

"Ugh!"

"Hhhnnng!"

The two guys, who had muttered nonsense before, held their left chest and squirmed on the ground in pain, yet their face showed signs of happiness.

Mia got more nervous as he did not know what to do to help these weird five boys.

He decided to flee the locker room to his assigned classroom with his teary eyes. He kept thinking while he was running away.

'What happened to those people had nothing to do me!'

'It wasn't my fault!'

That's right, people.
