After the Fight

Even if I wanted to go thank them for coming and all that, I couldn't take my chances. The beast could turn around and come back right away and take us by surprise.

"G! divide in two group and cover the north and south street in the intersection talk with Zak and coordinate with the reinforcements!"

"Look for survivors and help as much as you can, bring some medics here!"

"Tell the main group to advance and get ready we are leaving in 15!"

I went to the guy that got his leg broken, he had passed out from the pain, but at least he was still alive.

Milo looked tired near us, he seemed to be reloading the bullets of a magazine for his assault rifle.

"Hey, Milo."

He looked at me and got near.

"Can you take a look around to see how many people we lose?"

"Sure, give me a couple minutes."

He finished reloading the magazine and left to get the information I needed.

The guy's leg was almost destroyed. I saw the guy with pity, this was going to need an amputation, so there was nothing I could do for him.

At that time Hope appeared and gave me a hug that almost threw me on the floor as it was completely unexpected.

"You missed your brother that much?" I teased her. She punched me a response.

I noticed that Blake sent his people to reinforce the south and north and arrived together with Hope, Hayley, and more people.

"Thank you for coming if you took more time we would be lost."

"I'm glad we can help. How did this happen? From what I hear about what happened it looks well organized."

"We think that there is an Alpha involved."

As the leader of the hunting teams, he was already aware of the existence of this beasts, and all the other present also knew about it.

"The bull that you killed at the end?"

"No that was just an annoying ability, but it wasn't smart, I think that there is another beast controlling them so be careful."

"Ok, is there anything that we can do to help?"

"I don't think so, the main group will take care of the injured, and most people only need a little rest before we start moving again."

As I said that the main group arrived and the doctors, paramedics, and nurses started to take care of the wounded. One of them got near me and asked if I needed attention for my arm. Until that moment I didn't notice that I had a cut on it.

The nurse helped me, and as she disinfected and treated the wound, Milo came back.

"I have the report, about 20 people have light wounds 7 dead and 5 severe injuries, and from what I heard there are 2 that are not going to make it. Also when I asked in the main group about their condition they told me that there is a woman that needed urgent surgery, she had appendicitis, and they think that the appendix burst."

That was horrible news, I hope she can survive until we arrive.

I nodded. I was a little tired and wanted to tell everyone to get ready and start moving right away, but I remembered that I had Enhanced Stamina, looking at the rest of the people I understood that going without giving them a proper break after the fight to at least take care of their wounds was a bad idea.

I could see that even if I send our vanguard to keep an eye on the south and north street, they were resting too.

After telling Milo to go rest with the others, I sat on the floor together with Hope and Hayley.

"How it is that you both decided to come here?"

Hayley smiled at me and answered.

"Rose told us what happened in the morning when you asked her to talk with Dr. Harting… we went with her, and after she left, we talked with him. He wasn't sure, but Zak told him that it would be fine, Hope has hunted with you before, and he mentioned the fact that you pushed me to be part of the rescue team, so he agreed."

I wasn't sure what to think about it, I would have preferred for them to be safe at Green Shelter, but Hayley took me entirely off guard with her powers, even now I could see frozen beasts lying around, and Hope was using her MRGR in battle. I wanted both of them to learn to fight and be able to hold on their own if I'm not there, but a large-scale operation might have been too much to start the training.

Hope was able to relax after seeing me so was at my side with her head on my shoulder. Hayley was quietly looking around, but I could see that she was relieved too. Hope confirmed my suspicions when she started to talk.

"When Rose appeared this morning, and we knew about the situation we were anxious about you and Gerhard. We didn't know how helpful we could be, but it was better than staying at home doing nothing."

I just smiled at Hayley and patted Hope's hair.

"Thanks… It's not that I'm not happy that you are here, but I would prefer for you to be safe…" when I thought about the girl's safety I thought about something. "What happened to Rose's body?"

"Cai-Cai and Dante are guarding it. Isabella and Dana should be at home already too."

I nodded. Dante was probably the best guardian that someone can ask for.

Now that they were here, I had to be extra careful to be sure that nothing happens to them. The extra hands are going to be useful for that.

'System, does the reinforcements from Green Shelter count in the total for the mission?'

[No only the starting 168 people count towards the mission.]

Since 7 died have died until now, and if the other three die too I'm already at only 94%, I can't lose more people.

I was looking around at the recently arrived teams and the ones that were here from the beginning. The shield bearers together with G will be able to stop almost any advance, so I know that I'm not going to lose more people.

I was looking at the auras and strength of everyone. I identified Blake as the one that killed the big goat with an electric power.

I noticed some guys stealing glances at us from time to time.

'Rose what did the beast do?'

'I don't know they left my sight so I think that they might have left for good.'

'Let's hope that you are right.'

The break that I originally intended for it to be for about a quarter of hour ended at half an hour. It wasn't enough for everyone to recover, but we couldn't be wasting so much time.

I moved my shoulder to let Hope know that we are going to move. She stretched a little and Hayley got on her feet too.

"Get ready everyone we are moving." I once again infused courage on them and I noticed Blake looking at me with curiosity. As if waiting to see what I was going to do next.

"Is there a problem if I fit them onto the formation?"

Even if I was in charge of the evacuation technically, he was the leader of the hunting teams, I didn't respond to him, but it was just to show respect. I don't want an internal conflict to occur now.

I nodded and yelled orders I reorganized the vanguard, and some of the extra people or wounded went to the main group or the rearguard. Also, they looted and recovered some objects from the bodies of the ones that fell in battle. We couldn't take them with us.

We started to move again, I sent Gabriel back to the rearguard where he was before together with Milo. As the rear was reinforced I told Giorgio to stop with the barricades, for now, the idea was to create them only if we need them I don't want Giorgio to overextend himself now that we have more people, I also sent Watson back with Emma and the rest of the commission to take care of them.

I moved together with the vanguard.

In the front, a little behind me Hope and Hayley were next to Blake, and some other mid-ranged attackers.
