Outnumbered and Outgunned

"What do we have here?!" A cold evil voice spoke out behind me. 'Shit when did he?!' I quickly looked back to see half of a student appear from my shadow. "Hey, guys we seem to have hit the jackpot, our target has come to us!" He yelled out once my eyes met his.

"Fulgeo-Igna!" I Instinctively yelled out shooting a red ray of fire towards him, but before my spell could land he sank back into my shadow and with a thud my firebolt dissipated into the ground.

"Well, that's not good." Morain commented talking normally like we weren't in a dire situation, "Well, I count six enemies we need to deal with." She informed me as she peeked around the tree and came back.

"Shall I blast em?!" Evrene questioned floating a bit higher like she was holding up a hand.

"Not right now, I really don't want to kill anyone," I answered her but deep down panic began to set in, not only am I outnumbered, I'm almost certain these guys are probably senior students.

"Commendable spirit, but I feel we might need to bend the rules a bit, we are severely outnumbered and even maybe outgunned," Morain informed me.

"How on earth do they have so many Atlantis students on their side? wait how do you even know what outgunned even means?" I peeked around the tree trying to identify what I'm up against.

"It's a phrase Paul uses often when we're in a pickle particularly when we are outnumbered." She flapped.

My heart and confidence rapidly sank as it looked as if they had a complete balanced team, as their melee members consisted of three individuals one with a large two-hand axe, one with an axe and shield and the dude who was able to travel through shadows equipped with two daggers and a small hand crossbow, the remaining three consisted of students with wands.

I began to think back on all the training we were given and how to best handle the situation at hand. My mind quickly went back to a time when Scarlet was teaching us fundamental rules of engagement, 'When outnumbered the most important rule is to reduce their numbers.'

"Okay I need something to slow down the melee guys, do we have any traps or can you make the terrain more hazardous?" I questioned both Evrene and Morain.

I quickly began to remember some more important tactics that can be used to increase my chances in this situation, "Okay okay, I know when I'm at a loss. How about we make a deal? I surrender myself and you all leave my friends alone?" I yelled out to them with an offer.

With a blue flash, Morain began to manifest all sorts of contraptions and traps,

"That offer sounds great for us." One of them shouted back.

"Sorry Emilia, My spells are generally more suited for destroying things," Evrene answered me.

"Okay, what assurance can you give me that if I surrender myself, my friends will all be left unharmed," I shouted back as I began to raffle through the things Morain created.

"What's in here?" I questioned opening a bag which rattled with clanging metal as I grabbed it.

"Ball bearings!" Morain answered with a flap of excitement.

A thought came to mind that would hopefully let me neuter the spell casters in an instant, "You don't happen to have anything that can make someone lose their voice? like some sort of itchy powder or something that dries the throat?" I questioned Morain.

"Oh that is a brilliant idea, I have just the perfect ingredient." Morain flapped and with a cast of her spell, she manifested a huge clay jar.

"What is this?" I questioned curiously grabbing the warm jar.

"Oh this is only the most potent spice ever created, its a blend of crushed Lava beetle sheddings from the plane of fire, the zest of a Volcanic Tegramit and a drop of magma viper venom, this thing kicks enough heat even a Fire GIant would find it tough to keep down," Morain answered.

"Bloody hell that sounds lethal, do you think they will survive?" I questioned in shock, the spice was so potent it even somehow kept the clay pot heated.

"I don't think it will kill them, will probably knock them out though along with throat and nasal swelling and temporary blindness, they will defiantly regret messing with us!" Morain flapped in excitement.

"F'ck it that will have to do, I'm outnumbered anyway." I agreed, "Evrene I need you to reproduce that wind spell again, on my command if you can please." I requested her.

"Of course!" She answered still excited as ever to be in the action.

"What plans do you have for the shadow student?" Morain questioned.

"Oh, I already have something planned, I just hope it will work." I grinned with excitement as my morale and confidence began to rise, seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.

"We give you our word, that your friends won't be harmed." A voice shouted out.

"Your word? you allied yourself with Demons how can you expect me to trust your word?" I questioned back and began to quietly empty bags of ballbearings on the floor letting them spread themselves out along the uneven ground with a hand gesture instructing Morain to make more.

"Look you are outnumbered and no offence you're a freshman how do you think this is gonna play out?" A voice shouted back at me.

"Oh? It's gonna play out like this." I yelled back with a giant grin, "NOW!" I instructed Evrene and with another loud booming shockwave she let out galeforce winds strong enough to knock our enemies to the ground, cracking the lid open I tossed the whole clay pot in the air dispersing the potent spice powder all over their direction.

"WHAT THE HELL?!" several voices cursed followed by the sound of uncontrollable coughing, "MY eyes! Oh my god MY EYES!" they also yelled.

"You little B*tch!" two voices yelled as I looked around the tree as two of the bigger male melee students began running towards me rubbing their eyes frantically while the casters were running away.

The sound of two large heavy bodies hitting the ground with large thuds followed as they slipped on the ballbearings I laid for them, "What is this?!" They both yelled struggling to get back up while still trying to rub the spice out their eyes. I began looking for more things to use,

"You forgot about me!" The student travelled instantly avoiding everything I laid for the others and began to ascend from my shadow.

"I did?" I questioned brimming with overconfidence, "ILLUMINOS!" I yelled as four orbs of lights circled around him causing the shadow around him to shrink around his body.

"Crap!" He yelled out, just as I hoped he was only able to pass through shadows that were bigger than his physical body,

"Now what shall I do with you?" I questioned holding my wand out to his head.

"It's not over yet!!!!!" He yelled and to my surprise, he reached towards his bracers and pulled out several small needles and quickly threw them at me,

"Shit!" I leaned back trying to drop myself before the needles could reach me.

"NO!" Morain screamed as she flew in front of me trying to intercept the needles,

I saw a light green flash in my peripheral vision originating from Evrene, as I landed I quickly looked to see what happened, all that was left was ash on the floor where the needles were intercepted by Evrene's spell.

"Thanks," I let out a sigh of relief.

"No problems!" Evrene flapped extremely happy with herself.

"Damnit," The student cursed as I looked and he was still trapped.

"Well," I replied standing up and dusting myself off,

"Whatever you're gonna do just do it, but before you do just remember, the number one rule of Atlantis." He grinned which just pissed me off even more, how is he allowed to break the rules but I had to follow them.

As rage filled up my veins and my blood began to boil I pointed my wand towards his head, 'It would be so easy to end him right now, he didn't even regret his attempts hurt me. not even a slither of regret or apology. Just a cocky grin like whatever happens he's still gonna survive.

"Emilia don't," Evrene spoke out and flew in front of me.

"I can't let him go, if I let him go he's just gonna do something to Paul, me or my friends again!!!" I yelled.

"Killing in cold blood is a line that should never be crossed." Morain tried to reason with me.

"What if we let him go and he contacts his Demon Lord or something and gets empowered, if he empowered himself there would be no way I would have won," I argued back with them.

"We have won, there's no need for any bloodshed, he will be dealt with appropriately by the appropriate authority, there's no need to soil your hands." Evrene tried to reason with me more.

As my hands began to lower "KILL ME NOW OR YOU'RE GONNA REGRET IT!" his voice suddenly changed to something very demonic and chilling, that voice instantly hit me in a special part of my brain, it was unmistakeable the same demonic voice and tone that possessed Paul in the vision.

"Fulgeo-Igna!" I instinctively yelled as a bright green ray shot out of my wand, that green-rayed spell was unmistakable.
