Fairy God Mother (9)

Stephanie and Mia chatted as they drive away to Mia's house. It was a light and happy discussion. Mostly interesting stuff about William when they were studying abroad. Mia listened while Stephanie continued to talk. There were embarrassing stories, sad stories and happy stories. Mia listened to all of it. She was not able to ask William these questions while they were together.

Thinking about it, William would proactively ask her about how she was and what happened to her when they got separated. She shared her stories while William silently listened and kept all of his experiences to himself.

Mia thought to herself, "I should have asked him. What was I thinking as I shared all my troubles and yet I did not take the time to listen to his. Was this change partly due to William telling his feelings?"

"She did not know. She cared for William dearly, she knew this in her heart."

"But how deeply?"

"She did not know. Was it the same as her spending her life with him forever?"

This sudden question that passed her head jolted her from her thoughts.

...

They arrived at Mia's house safely. Stephanie did not stay long as she gave Aunty and Uncle some gifts from the mall and giving Aunty a copy of Mia's picture. Aunty happily accepted them and thankfully gave Stephanie a hug before letting her go.

Stephanie headed for home.

It was late but she was full of energy.

She parked her car and got out while whistling a happy tune. She was looking for her dear brother with a mischievous smile on her face.

She found her brother in his room while preparing to go to bed.

"What are you doing here?" William asked. He looked tired and was about to hit the bed as his sister appeared with a smug smile on her face.

"Hehehe… is that how you treat your benefactor?" Stephanie said while facing upwards with a prideful pose that monuments would feel shame as they were not on par with her pose. She folded her arms in front of her chest while laughing with a "he he he" feeling proud of herself.

William felt his sister was acting weird and creepy which made him step back a couple of steps, distancing himself from his sister. "What is it?"

Stephanie took her sweet time as she walked at William's fancy chair and sat like a queen that had found her throne. She crossed her legs and slowly brought her phone. She picked one of Mia's best poses and showed it to William.

William's eyes squinted trying to figure out what Stephanie was showing, as soon as he realized what the picture was, his eyes suddenly had changed of expression, with wide eyes and steps full of vigor, he reached Stephanie within seconds and was about to grab Stephanie's phone. Stephanie hid her phone from and William was left there standing still having his hands on the air with his swiping motion.

"Give it," William said.

"Bow down and kowtow, you peasant. He he he…" Stephanie said in a mocking tone. She knew she had him on the tip of her finger.

"Did you see it?" Stephanie asked.

"Of course I did. I wouldn't react this way if I hadn't. Show it to me." William pleaded with Stephanie.

"Did you see it clearly?" Stephanie asked while squinting her eyes and raising one eyebrow while inspecting his brother's reaction.

"Show it so I can see it clearly." William started feeling agitated once Stephanie said this. He knew his sister wanted something in exchange for the picture but he didn't know what it was. William clenched his fist and said in defeat, "I'll do what you want, just give it here."

As if getting what she came for, Stephanie gave an evil smile and said, "You said it. I'll get what I want tomorrow." Stephanie made some swiping motions.

Sfx *ding*

William turned back as his phone was beside his bed. He picked it up in a hurry and opened whatever Stephanie sent him. It was a picture of Mia while trying her new glasses. She looked so adorable. He was appreciating the photo when he suddenly heard the devil's whisper.

"There are more photos. If you renege on our deal, you will never see the other photos. He he he…" Stephanie left with these as her last words.

William, on the other hand, was still appreciating the photo as if he did not hear Stephanie's last words.

"I'll use this as my screen saver," William said happily.
