Chapter 31: A Princess's Story, Part 5

When I step into it, it feels like stepping through air, as if there is nothing different... Well, that is with exception to the obvious mana I can feel surrounding me as I do so. Stepping through it makes my vision go black, then back to seeing my new surroundings.

"So, you two must have paid 500 silver just to use this, right?" (Clerk?)

I turn my head towards the voice only to see someone behind a desk, and the only description I could come up with is that they look like a clerk... like those who check you in at a doctor's office.

"Not yet. They gave us this note to hand to you?" (Danica)

As I'm saying that, I hand the clerk the note.

"Thank you" he says as he reads the note. Once he seems to be done, "Well, if you will please transfer your 500 silver to this spatial storage pouch, I'll check it, and then you will be all good." (Clerk?)

I do as asked whilst thinking back on what Mama Baya said.

"Thank you, you are good to go, enjoy your time in No Shew ad" the clerk said with a smile.

"I hope we will; have a good day yourself..." (Kip)

"Oh, oops, my name is Seth" (Seth)

"I'm Danica and this is Kip, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance" (Danica)

We then leave the portal room with a woman waiting just outside.

"Welcome to Magic school, please follow me to get enrolled." then the woman whispers the next part into my ear "your highness" (Woman)

I start, then calmly speak. 

"And with whom do I have the pleasure of speaking?" (Danica)

"I am Shi" (Shi)

"She? As in her?" (Danica)

She laughs.

"No, Shi, S-H-I, common mistake though." (Shi)

"In his majesty's world I believe that translated to death or four?" (Kip)

"I believe you are correct `Kip`." (Shi)

Shi seemed to focus on his name, and in response he stiffened for a moment.

"I believe you have us at a disadvantage Shi, You seem to know much about us whilst we know not about you?" (Danica)

"To be frank dear, this is not the best place to talk about secrets. Come, follow me and I shall reveal all I know." (Shi)

With Shi leading the way we end up leaving a building that you would expect to be un-able to miss, especially in the middle of a city like this. However, it ends up almost completely blocked out by the trees once you make it to the road.

"How is a building like that so well hidden away?" (Danica)

"Oh, that, since the only reason for that building is the teleportation formation and processing for school recruitment, we really didn't need that big of a space, nor one obvious." (Shi)

"That really didn't answer my question." (Danica)

"I think what Shi is meaning is that since such things didn't matter they really didn't pay attention to such things, and that's just how it ended up." (Kip)

"Exactly Mr. Herber!" (Shi)

"Then why didn't you say that in the first place?" (Danica)

"I had thought it was implied, I guess though, not well enough." (Shi)

"I never would have gotten it without an explanation similar to the one Kip gave me." (Danica)

By the time we are done with that conversation we are now directly in front of what seem to be entrance doors to what I could only assume is the capital city's magic school.

"So this is the famed magic school of No-Shew-Add?" (Danica)

"Yes, with me as the principal." (Shi)

"So... which rumors are true?" (Kip)

"Most of them probably, many just exaggerated." (Shi)

"What about you having tamed a dragon with ease?" (Danica)

"True, but they forget to mention that I'm the one that raised that dragon... so though the taming itself was rather easy, there were other issues I needed to face." (Shi)

"I once heard that you quelled a rebellion with a single shout?" (Kip)

While we are having this discussion, we are following Shi through near-empty halls to what I assume at this point is her office?

"Hah! No, the closest I've done is quieted routy assemblies by simply shouting `Quiet!` at the top of my lungs... Trust me, even without magic, my shouting is quite loud." (Shi)

"I would ask for a demonstration, but I don't want to risk ear damage, and it also looks as if classes are in session." (Danica)

"I know a way I can safely give you one, just wait until we get to my office." (Shi)

"Should we be concerned for our ears?" (Kip)

"Don't worry, I'll be taking precautions against any such damage." (Shi)

Said under his breath "Oh, shit, I only meant that as a joke." (Kip)

Right after he says that, we arrive at her office.

"Come on in and have a seat." (Shi)

We both sit across from Shi.

"So do you want that demonstration?" (Shi)

"Are you positive it's safe?" (Kip)

"Yup!" (Shi)

"Please." (Danica)

Shi casts a spell that seems to surround the room.

"This is a Sound Nullification Spell." (Shi)

"And next I'll cast a Soundproofing Spell." (Shi)

"Don't those do the same thing?" (Danica)

"Actually, a Sound Nullification Spell completely absorbs all soundwaves that touch it... a Soundproofing Spell Simply acts like a soundproofing wall, it tries to absorb all the sound, but has a limit." (Kip) 

"Exactly! the limit of this one will be the same as the Noise Voidence rooms most kingdoms have." (Shi)

Shi casts the spell, then she seems to be talking but we can't hear her. Afterwards she seems to be shouting yet the volume is like she is just talking normally.

"See, this is how loud I can be, though this is my loudest." (Shi)

Shi takes down the spells.

"There is no way that that was as strong of soundproofing as you said" (Danica)

"I mean, it reduces sound by 120 decibels, so your voice would need to be 180 decibels to sound like that" (Kip)

**Author's Note: A jet engine is 150 decibels!**

After all that we take the tests and enter into the school. After a few weeks of us being there the prince enters our homeroom class.
