At the Barn (2)

"I can" Xhemin answered but for some reasons her face then clouded with worry "However…."

"However what?" Dr. Cyan repeated, impatiently awaiting her answer.

"It will not be that easy…" she revealed "…For starters, I do not have any standard way yet in creating the formula of the Staw Serum. For example, when it comes to measurement of how many strawberries I need to put in it, I measure them by tasting it. For the quantity of the baking soda, I measure it by feeling the amount of granules in my fingers"

The doctor was quite appalled from her revelation. "Little Miss, you are extraordinary! That habit of yours sprung up because of years of experience"

"I think so. I made the serum when I was eight." She tallied further, which made the doctor's jaw dropped!

Heck! The hell did an eight year old made the most complicated serum he had known in his entire life.

The little Miss felt a little glow of something pleasant; she certainly didn't want to surprise him with all these revelations but it was unavoidable. She gave him a moment or two to let the ideas and words sunk in.

"Another thing, I apply different amount of chemicals and dosage based on the severity of the disease," she explained more "So I need to see the condition of the horses first before making the serum"

"So there are different types of Staw serum?" Dr. Cyan asked, he was very keen in every word she said. Making sure he was not missing anything.

"I think soo…I made twenty different types of Staw serum already"

"Twenty?" The doctor exclaimed with so much frustration in his face. Twenty types. If she would successfully teach him one formula, there were nineteen more! God! It might took him a lifetime to learn everything about the serum. "Well, that indeed is a problem. If you are still going to teach me the formula, it might take us some time and it might be too late"

"Exactly my point" She nodded in acknowledgment. "I still have serum left but it might not be enough and this dosage is specifically for summer. It might work to some horses with the same stage of disease. Also my serum has negative effects when not applied right"

"What will be the worst thing that can happen in case I will not get the dosage right?"

Xhemin could feel the quick sand sucking around her feet. "There's only two. Impotency or death. If the horse survives death then it will become impotent," She warned.

"That's bad. You mean to say, you need to check the condition of the horse first before you can create a serum for the cure?" The doctor instantly calculated the pros and cons of the situation.

"Exactly" Xhemin pinpointed.

"And you don't have a standard procedure for making the formula that I can imitate" he murmured thinking about it. It was as if he was ruminating on how to remedy the situation. He thought of how inconvenient the circumstances were, he did find the cure but their time was short.

"Unfortunately yes" Xhemin said earnestly. Although the horses in the mansion were none of her concern, still the thought of them dying was something she could not endure—most especially with the fact that she had a way to save them.

Dr. Cyan pulled a face "Well, if that's the case then I guess you should check the horses themselves and make the serum by yourself" Dr. Cyan thought of it. It would be too impossible for him to learn the formula overnight. His only hope was the Little Missus herself. " Then I guess I need to bring you the mansion"

"Which is rather impossible because I am not one of the mansion's employee. Also, they have a very tight security" Xhemin responded knowing that her first visit on such place was not that welcoming.

"True" The doctor held a deep sigh, he was losing all the options but he precipitously remembered something and a light of hope flashed in his eyes "Well not entirely true."

Xhemin knitted her brows at the doctor's sudden change of mood "How is that?"

"Have you forgotten? I am one of their hired veterinarian, so I have the capability to let you in," Doctor Cyan explained to her.

"Huh? Does that position allows you let someone in?" Xhemin doubted.

"No, but I can hire you as an assistant" He concluded. While it was true that Xhemin cannot easily enter the mansion freely; making her as his assistant will give her access to everything in the property, including all of the horses. It had also been a long time since he needed one.

"The professor wont' approve. He is going to be suspicious," She reminded him as knew that there was no way the professor will allow her to leave.

"Not unless I'll tell him you are going there to study herbs. There are so many herbs in the mansion," The Doctor supposed. There was no other option left but for him to bring Xhemin in the mansion. Therefore, by any means, she must go with him.

"Can I have access to the herbs?" Interestingly, she inquired.

"Well yeah" He agreed trying to convince her more.

"I'll think about it" She settled. She was still unsure about the proposition but she admitted by then that she was somewhat convinced.

"Little Miss c'mon, I mean…just think about the horses that are dying. You need to help them," He told her, as if trying to make her responsible for their lives. He knew the girl had a good heart like his granddad and circumstances of life and death was something they cannot just ignore.

"Well… that…" Now the guilt in her heart rose up. Did she not make the cure so that no more horse dies? If she was not going help them — for what reason did she make the Staw serum then?

"Okay" She whispered.

"Okay what? "Doctor Cyan grunted miserably, not knowing whether it was a yes or not.

"Okay I'll come with you. As long as the professor will allow me to go then I'll come with you" Xhemin said unsteadily as she accepted his offer. She was immeasurably relieved the guilt she felt for the horses will not linger long, but she was also a bit anxious on where this decision would lead to and whether or not there will be trouble coming with it.

"Okay thank you!" Doctor cyan exclaimed with so much relief. He was ready to hug the girl but he thought it was rather improper.

"But don't forget, it's a secret" she repeated, her eyes were all on him.

"It is. This is a secret between us" He promised her. Now the only problem he had left was how to convince the professor—his father—on bringing the Little Missus to the mansion.
