The U.A. Sports Festival! Overdrive: Mode Four! (Part 1 of 3)

"Well, everyone, it's that time again. Next week, the Sports Festival arrives, I hope you all have been training and working further on your Quirks. The first years have been making considerable progress thanks to your help, I appreciate that." Mr. Aizawa told us.

I couldn't believe we're already going to be competing at our second Sports Festival! I was super excited! I raised my hand to ask a question.

"Yes, Leonidus, what is it?" Mr. Aizawa asked.

"So, I know we'll have the tournament part of the tournament since the Second and Third-Years last year did it, will we have to participate in the other events beforehand?" I replied.

"No, you won't be participating in those events. Those are exclusive to the First-Year classes, you guys will be participating in a larger scale tournament. It'll start off as teams of two, then the remaining participants will face off against each other." Mr. Aizawa explained.

Woah, a tag team tournament?! That sounded awesome! I get to fight two people at once with someone! I darted a look over at Kirishima, who was already looking at me. If we got partnered up during this tournament, we'd definitely destroy!

[3 Hours Later...]

At lunch, I sat with Kirishima, Kaminari, Tsu and Mina.

"This year's Sports Festival sounds awesome!" Kirishima exclaimed.

"Yeah! Honestly, getting to fight against everyone again is getting my blood pumping!" I beamed as I activated my Quirk.

"Woah, Alyx, you sure are excited about fighting!" Tsu noted.

"Yeah! I don't think I've ever known anyone that actually enjoys fighting! Outside of Bakugo, of course..." Mina told me.

"Truth be told, I honestly don't really like fighting! I just really like seeing how strong people are, which I guess now that I've said that, I've contradicted myself." I replied with a laugh.

"Hey, speaking of that, you never told us what happened to you a couple days ago." Kaminari mentioned.

I looked at him, "Oh, right! We'll it'll be a while, so you might as well get comfortable. So, I got kidnapped by one of the Quartet Girls, Rei, who apparently had some sort of insane obsession over me. We ended up ALMOST doing it, since I had to distract her with my 'Leonidus Secret Technique' which I used with an afterimage. Then, I got out of the room we were in and locked her in there. She managed to get out and was looking for me, but eventually gave up and started bawling her eyes out."

"THEEEEN, I hugged her for a few minutes, then Momo came in and fucking whacked her with a mallet! And that's pretty much the end of that." I continued.

"Yo, was she a baddie though? Like, even more than Yaoyorozu, huh?" Kaminari winked.

"If Momo could hear you now, you probably would be going head long out of the dorm windows once we got home, Kami." I replied.

Mina agreed and nodded, "Yeah, I wouldn't exactly say that, like... Ever, Kaminari."

After lunch, we went back to the classroom, where Ms. Midnight was teaching us all about the wonders of Geometry... Wonderful. 3 long, boring hours later, and we got to head home!

"Oh, Alyx, I've got a question." Momo told me.

"What's up?" I responded.

"Could you train with me? I've been meaning to ask you that for a while, but now that the Sports Festival is coming up, I think it's necessary for me to improve more on my Quirk!" Momo smiled with determination.

"Sure! How about now! Once we get inside, I'll put on my stuff and we'll meet back out here." I agreed.

I hurried up to my room and changed out of my school uniform. I was wearing shorts and a white shirt. I went outside and waited for Momo. Momo came outside, she was wearing a sports bra and leggings.

"Alright, so, first things first! Strenuous Exercise! Push Ups, Curl Ups, and Planks!" I exclaimed.

Momo nodded, "I'm ready when you are!"

[25 Minutes Later...]

"867... 868... 869... 870!" I shouted.

I finished my push ups, I stopped and sat up, drenched in sweat.

"Phew! That's a new record! Beat my old record by 105! I guess I am getting stronger!" I beamed.

"Yeah... That was... Intense..." Momo was trying to catch her breath.

"You didn't do that bad! How many did you get again? 406?" I wondered.

She nodded her head, "How are you... Not out of breath?"

"I did this all the time when I was younger, I think? That must be why my body's so durable and why I don't really ever run out of breath unless I'm using my Quirk OR that Water Breathing style." I guessed.

We moved onto the rest of the training, we eventually got to the Quirk portion of it.

"Okay, here's the fun part, Quirk stuff!" I shouted as I threw off my shirt.

"So, I normally try and hold my Quirk for as long as I can while exerting my full power. What do you normally do?" I questioned.

"Well, I sometimes try and create things before I eat. But I've already ate, so it might not be as effective." Momo responded.

"Hmm... Wait! Just create as many big or long things as possible! The longer or bigger the object, the more lipids you use, right?" I wondered.

Momo nodded, "Correct, nice observation! I'll try my best!"

I meditated and used my Quirk at its full power. I held it for as long as I could while Momo was creating stuff. I stopped right before my body seized up, and I noticed all of the thing Momo created. I saw her lying face down on the ground. I rushed over to her; she didn't look too good. I quickly healed her and she regained consciousness.

"Geez, you really went all out, huh?" I noted as I looked at the objects surrounding her.

"Y-Yeah, I guess I just wanted to use everything I had, sorry." Momo wearily apologized.

"Speaking of using everything you have... I've been having a weird burning sensation both on my back and in my chest." I remarked.

"Heartburn? Or is it a different kind of feeling?" Momo questioned.

"I dunno, let me try something." I helped Momo up and then stepped back a bit.

I got into a charge up position, "HaaaaaaaaaaAAAA..."

I started off quietly as I activated my Quirk. The pebbles and rocks started to float up beside me. My Quirk intensified and started to flare outwards.

"A-Alyx, there's something glowing on your forehead!" I heard Momo shout.

I kept concentrating, "HAAAAAAAAAAAA...! RAAAAAAAH!"

The area around me exploded with a bright flash of light. I took a breath out, I looked at my hands, my body was surrounded by not only my violet blue aura, but red flashes of electricity. It was even making zapping sounds!

"W-Woah... Is this... Mode Four?" I said to myself.

Momo grabbed her phone and took a picture of me, show showed me what I looked like.

"Holy hell! I look cool! Is that really on my forehead?" I exclaimed.

There was a bright blue triangle on my forehead, I wonder if that meant anything? I deactivated my Quirk and everyone burst out of the dorms.

"Jesus! What was that boom! There was a flash of-" Kaminari stopped himself.

I looked up at them and Momo turned her head around and tensed up.

"Oh, hey guys!" I waved cheerfully.

"IS SHE... N-NAKED?!?!" Mineta gasped.

Mineta was jumping around like a jumping jack! Sero wrapped Mineta up with his tape.

"Huh? Oh!" I uttered.

I tilted my head in confusion at first, but then I realized. Her Quirk must've destroyed her top! I quickly grabbed my shirt and put it over her.

"There! Good as new, sorry if it's a bit damp, I put it in the sun so it could at least dry." I chuckled.

"It's fine, I planned on taking a shower anyway." Momo sighed.

I thought about showing them my new Mode, but if I'm gonna be honest, it put a lot of strain on me! So, I just told them that we were training and Momo accidentally flash banged me. We went back inside and Momo and I took a shower. We made a lot of progress today, that's for sure!

"WERE YOU TWO IN THE SHOWER TOGETHER?!" Mineta shouted as we left the bathroom.

"Yeeeaaah? Is there something wrong with that? It saves water, Mineta." Momo questioned.

Mineta was dumbfounded, has he never seen anybody shower together or something?

"A-Aren't you... Wha... Did you... Did..." Mineta stuttered.

I picked Mineta up by his head, it seemed like his brain crashed or something.

"You alright? What are you trying to say?" I asked him.

Mineta finally snapped out of it, "You're a lucky man, Alyx! Damn lucky!"

"Mineta... Not EVERYTHING has to revolve around your perversions. You don't think I've seen a naked woman before? Big whoopie, seeing a woman naked is totally something I've totally never seen before and enticing and something that I should really get amped up about." I sarcastically sighed.

"So you are like that! I knew it! You're only dating her because she's got the biggest boobs on campus!" Mineta exclaimed.

"Sarcasm, Mineta. Not trying to be rude or anything, but I'm not like you, my friend." I told him.

I set Mineta back down on the ground and he scurried away.

"You were gonna hit him with that mallet, weren't you?" I asked Momo.

I didn't even have to turn around to see that she was holding it.

"Huh, how'd you know?" Momo smiled.

I decided to go back outside to keep training, I wanted to see just how powerful Mode Four was! I found a spot nearby that was away from the dorms, I made sure that there wasn't any kind of fake rocks or things like that. I charged back up into Mode Four, there definitely was a lot of strain on my body. It'll take some time before I can actually use it, so I might as well get used to it!

"Okay, where to start..." I muttered.

I surveyed the area, I punched straight forward. Air shot straight out and demolished a tree!

"W-Woah! That was awesome!" I exclaimed as I looked at my fist.

It seems like I've gotten another long-range attack now! I looked at the red flashes of electricity around me, jumping around my entire body, and had a brilliant idea. I think I can move fast enough like the electricity; I could most likely use it to move faster and take the strain off of my body. I won't be able to use Boost Fire while I'm doing it though.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath in, "Overdrive: Speed Bound!"

It was like my body was moving back and forth. I almost looked like one of my afterimages I used against Mirio! How fast was I going? I threw a punch... Right? My hand was in front of me but I didn't see the rest of the movement! Incredible! I deactivated my Quirk, how much power did I really have?

"You come here, too?" I heard Shinso's voice.

I looked above me and saw Shinso sitting in a tree, petting a cat.

"Oh, hey Shinso! I'm guessing you saw that, right?" I responded.

"Yep, but don't worry, I already figured you weren't going to tell anyone. So, your secret's safe with me." Shinso nodded as he jumped down from the tree with the cat.

I walked over to him and held the cat, "Yeah, I kind of want to surprise everyone. Only you and Momo know about it, and I'm wanting to use it during the tournament. There's just one problem though..."

"Oh, what would that be?" Shinso questioned.

"Well, I'm unsure if anyone besides Kirishima, Deku, Tetsutetsu, and Monoma will be able handle it. No offense to you, but you saw me smash that boulder without even touching it, I could possibly kill someone like Mineta or Shoji." I explained.

"None taken, but you'd be surprised. I don't think you know but we've all been preparing to train, not just for the Sports Festival, but just in case we ever have to go up against you." Shinso told me.

I lowered one of my eyebrows, "Huh? What do you mean?"

"I'm saying that we've never seen a Quirk like yours. None of the Pro Heroes here truly understand your Quirk, you've got two of them, right? Like Endeavor's kid, Shoto?" Shinso asked as we walked back to the dorms.

"Oh, right. I have my Mom's Quirk too, Rage, I think it's called? I'm not sure how to use it or if I can even use it." I agreed.

Shinso chuckled and shook his head, "What do you know? You've got an Anger Quirk, yet you're never mad."

"Yeah, I've gotten angry a few times. But I've never been truly mad. So, I guess you're right." I laughed as well.

We walked into the dorms; the girls looked upset about something.

"Hey, are you guys-" I stopped in my tracks.

They all looked at me, I felt a menacing aura surrounding all of them.

I put my hands up and nervously laughed, "O-Okay, never mind!"

I slowly backed away and went up the stairs where all of the others were.

"HOLY HELL ALYX! ARE YOU OKAY?!" Kaminari shouted.

"What's going on? The girls are all... Moody, I guess?" I wondered.

Mineta motioned me over and whispered into my ear, "They've synched."

"Oh fuck..." I muttered.

"WHAT DO WE FUCKING DO, AMNESIA?!?" Bakugo yelled with anger in his eyes.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE?! I'M NOT A DOCTOR! YOU GUYS WANT ME TO MARCH DOWN THERE AND TELL THEM THAT IT'S OKAY?!" I shouted back.

They all stood there and looked at each other, then looked back at me and nodded.

[A Couple Minutes Later...]

Sero wrapped a pillow on the front of me, Kaminari cut eye holes in the lamp shade and put it on my head. They all sent me downstairs to try and negotiate some sort of peace treaty. I slowly crept down the stairs, every creak I stopped and waited. I stared at the last step that led to the common area and kitchen. I took a shaky deep breath in, and then back out. I looked around the corner and they were still lying around. I took one step out and their eyes all darted towards me. They were all staring angrily at me, I didn't move a muscle.

"H-Hey..." I whispered in a weedy little voice.

"What's going on down there? Over." Kaminari relayed through the All Might & Friends toy walkie-talkie.

I slowly grabbed it, pressed the button, and whispered into it, "They've got their eyes on me. I'm not making any sudden movements so-"

Tsu's tongue darted towards me, she grabbed the walkie-talkie and slammed it down on the ground. It shattered into pieces, the second I looked down at it, the girls surrounded me. I closed my eyes as Momo grabbed me.

"BABE MY FUCKING HEAD HURTS!" She angrily shouted at me.

"Your head hurts? My entire back hurts!" Uraraka argued.

The girls listed off and argued about who's pain was worse, what hurt where, and why I wasn't "being fucking quiet you damn fuck", which is what Hagakure told me. I sat there and listened to all of this, and geez, it must suck being a girl, in that aspect of course. I slowly raised my hand to ask them a question.

"SPEAK." Momo yelled.

"I can... probably use my Quirk to heal you guys? If it's just pain then I think it should work." I told them.

They all lit up and jumped for joy.

"Really?! You'll do that?" Mina gleefully shouted.

I nodded my head, "Yep! Doctor... It's Doctor, right?"

They all nodded and I continued.

"Doctor Alyx Leonidus is in the house!" I yelled with excitement!

"STOP YELLING WE'VE GOT A HEADACHE!!" Hagakure, Momo, and Jiro shouted.

After a very, very long session of healing, the girls were fine. I couldn't really say the same for myself though, I was worn out! Now I was the one in pain!

"Thank you, Alyx!" They all smiled.

I was practically deflated, "You're welcome."

I fell over and passed out, I hope and pray that I'll never have to do that again!

[Several Days Later...]

The day of the Sports Festival arrived, and I trained my ass off this entire week! I've gotten better with Mode Four, but I think I'll mostly use it as a just in case. Instead of going through that obstacle course race, we went straight to the stadium. We sat up in the bleachers, like last year, every pro hero was there it seemed! My eyes were fixed to the screen as I saw Sota go through the obstacle course. My leg was tapping the floor beneath me, I wasn't sure if I was nervous or excited.

"Come on, Sota..." I muttered to myself.

He's definitely improved, he's zipping through that course! My eyes went from the screen to the entrance to the arena, I didn't care if Sota rushed through there first, all I cared about was if he made it through into the tournament. One person came through, from his class, Selina Kageyama. Her Quirk's called "Bouncy Ball." It's quite an interesting Quirk! Then, Sota flew through the arena entrance!

"YEAH! LET'S GO! ATTA BOY SOTA!" I shouted.

"Go where, Alyx?" Shoto questioned.

I looked at him and laughed, "No, no! It's just a phrase to say if you're happy or excited!"

"Ah, so if my Father dies-" Shoto continued.

Deku interrupted him, "NO! THAT'S NOT HOW YOU USE IT!"

[30 minutes Later...]

We sat through the headband event, to me, it's probably the most boring part of the Festival. I didn't really like it when I did it last year, I could tell most of these First-Years felt the same. Sota's moving on to the tournament part! I was super excited to finally get to see him fight for real! The only time I've ever seen him fight was during our joint training sessions. Sota was first up, he looked pretty nervous, and as white as a ghost! I guess I could see why, he was going up against Nisaki Yotomo. The kid's got as much intensity as Bakugo but is as calm and collected as Shinso. He's definitely a tough opponent, that's for sure. He'd give me a run for my money I'd imagine! His Quirks are "Fire Lance" & "Death Stare", which Death Stare might be the one thing Sota should be worried about!

"Alright, folks! This'll be the first bout of the tournament! Let's get it started!" Present Mic announced.

An air horn sounded and ink flowed down Sota's arms. He was in complete concentration, he surrounded himself in his ink. Nisaki readied a Fire Lance and kept direct eye contact with Sota, if he managed to make eye to eye contact with Sota, this fight was over! Sota purposely covered his eyes with his ink, then created that giant squid! He slammed the tentacle down onto Nisaki, but he pierced it with his Fire Lance! The entire ink construct was set ablaze, Sota then emerged through the flames with a phoenix!

"Huh, he really did take after you somewhat, didn't he?" Jiro remarked.

"I guess so, I kinda like his style! I've never seen him legitimately fight though, but I'm liking what I'm seeing from him." I responded.

Sota crashed into Nisaki with that ink phoenix! Nisaki grabbed his arm, it seemed to have made Sota lose focus, and he looked Nisaki dead in the eyes! His eyes shifted into a bright yellow, then back into the regular honey-gold color. Sota stood there for a moment, then punched Nisaki in the face before he fell over on the ground.

"Here's your winner folks! NIIIIIIIIISAKI YOTOMOOOOOOO!!!!" Present Mic shouted.

Nisaki left the arena, and Sota was still unconscious. I looked over at Midnight, I nodded my head and she gave me a thumbs up. I got up from my seat and jumped down to the arena floor. Everyone in the stadium was still roaring from the match that went on, they must've been talking about Nisaki. I got to Sota and knelt down beside him.

Sota slowly regained consciousness, "L-Leonidus... Sir...?"

"You did amazing, Sota! Color me impressed, kid." I beamed.

"But... I barely did anything." He lamented.

"Sota, what are you talkin' about? You stepped into this arena with one of the strongest kids in your class, and you didn't runaway, you kept fighting! It doesn't matter if you win, all that matters is if you've got the courage to confront whatever's in front of you. You've made me proud, Sota." I smiled.

Sota started to tear up, "T-Thank you, Leonidus!"

I helped him up to the stands, I sat back down next to Momo and Shoji. The first-year's tournament matchups seemed really exciting! Getting to see all of their Quirks in action got me pumped even more for our tournament! I wonder who I'd be fighting against first?

[1 Hour Later...]

"Alright, Ladies and Gentlemen! Next up, is our Second-Year tournament! We'll be starting off with a tag team preliminary match, then we'll move on to the singles matches! On the screen above me, we've randomly generated the teams our students will be in!" Midnight informed us.

I looked at the screen, there were so many things running through my head, who would I be partnered up with? I saw my name, then looked down at the name of my partner. My heart immediately sunk; this was gonna be a looooong match, good grief... I looked over at Momo with narrowed eyes, she could tell that I was not in the mood for this right now. Not trying to seem harsh, but I would've preferred someone like Hagakure or Shoji, at least they have some hint of fighting prowess in them.
