Chapter 3: Receiving the letter

In the night the moon was up in the sky and the whole world quiet.

I was in deep sleep, when I was suddenly interrupted by what seemed to be like knocks on my window. In a matter of seconds I was up and ready.

A few years ago uncle Severus had told me that in the future I would get a letter to hogwarts like him and my decased parents. Uncle had told me that I should not be nervous since I had already casted simple spells wandless, proving my magic talent.

It wasn't of much help since before going to sleep every night I would think about receiving my hogwarts letter. A childish thought of mine was to keep the windows always open so it would be easier for the owl to give me my letter.

I wouldn't be surprised if the old bat would hide the letter from me till the last day, since even with a pure heart he still was a slytherin through and through.

...

I looked outside the window with no owls or letters in sight. Sadly I slumped back to my bed.

Maybe it had been a gust of wind or was uncle playing a trick on me. Still as a last act of desperation and hope I opened the window and looked around. Still there was nothing.

With sadness I closed the window and walked towards my bed.

Suddenly I noticed a strange item on my desk that wasn't there before and a few owl feathers all around. I quickly rushed towards the desk and grabbed the envelope.

I quickly noticed a wax seal, a shield ornament, and a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounded by a capital H.

With a smile I was sure that it was the invitation letter from Hogwarts since the old bat would never go through so much trouble for a silly prank. The animals representing hogwarts and The capital H confirming the validity.

Grinnfindors lion, Ravenclaws Eagle, Hufflepuffs badger and Slytherins snake.

On the letter it read

Mr Septimus Prince

In the middle of nowhere

I took a deep breath and opened the letter.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore (Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear Septimus Prince

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

The second page with requirements says:

UNIFORM First-year students will require: 1.Three sets of plain work robes (black) 2.One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear 3.One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar) 4.One winter cloak (black, with silver fastenings) Please note that all pupil's clothes should carry name tags.

Students may also bring an owl OR a cat OR a toad.
