Overall this series is pretty good. The world building and magic system are interesting. The plot is intriguing and the author does a decent job with foreshadowing and progression. Where the issues come in for me is the over use of certain phrases and words as well as a lack of consistency with character descriptions, mostly eye color for some reason. If there is smoke it is "acrid". If the MC does something it's always "deliberate and concise". While usually things like this are used to establish characters quirks and traits the over use of certain descriptions have bloated the chapters a bit and break the flow of reading at times. Sometimes Maya's eyes are purple like her hair other times blue, once I recall them being pink but that might've been a result of her condition. Irina's eyes are sometimes yellow, sometimes amber, sometimes red iirc. Astrons eyes are purple except for one point at the start of the second semester where they're described as grey, which is only the case when he was using a disguise item in a previous arc but he wasn't using it this time. The series is still worth the read if you can looks past things that in reality are minor editing issues in an otherwise entertaining story.

I have a love hate relationship with tournament arcs. On one hand I enjoy seeing how far the characters have grown, on the other hand progression usually grinds to a halt. That being said, still enjoyable chapters, characters are definitely well into developing and the ground work for good firm arcs has been laid well.

These recent chapters have been stellar. The last two made me home sick and I've been moved out for nearly twenty years. Good writing. I hope Ren gets to see his parents at some point during his schooling. It would be cathartic to both parties.

Klein gonna have a hard time tieing Ren in Weis class final if Ren is helping make the test lol.

This is the second time a book has pushed me to leave a review. the writing is excellent. the characters despite being young are fully fleshed out individuals. the main character in particular has moments where his actions remind you of the fact he is still so young despite being brilliant. the magic system is fully fleshed out and realized with clear delineations of powerscale. I absolutely love weak to strong stories and this is a great one so far. my only complaint is I need about another 2000 chapters lol.

i don't think so. he made part of his business selling things like bed memories, so it's likely he can make memories without needing a true name to it. yes he learned how to tie weave memories using his true name at first but I think he's gone beyond that in skill. another example being the pendants he gave to his soldiers to offset the cold.
