thoughtful thinking 😇
In other words, she could comfortably pull the wool over the eyes of her four children and the people around her without fear of being exposed.

miserable life of the original owner 😭😭
Later, when she left the orphanage and was taken in by her malicious adoptive parents, her life consisted of nothing but chores, beatings, and verbal abuse. She ended up forgetting almost everything she had once learned. But later, after meeting that person who told stories about Galaxies and the vastness of the universe, a thirst for knowledge was reignited within her heart.

witty excuse😄
"Er, well... When I went to sell scrap metal a while ago, I bought a pre-apocalypse encyclopedia from the junkyard. It just so happens to have instructions on how to weave bamboo mats," Sev lied.

"It's torn anyway. I'll take a trip to the Mutant Purple Bamboo Forest tomorrow, chop down a few stalks, and weave a new one."

sensible children 😇
As for peeling them? That was completely out of the question. Anything that could be stuffed into a synthetic sack and brought home was moderately irradiated food. Wasting even a tiny bit was a crime.

😁Sev has a girly heart for cuties
Sev couldn't hold back her internal screaming. "Ahhh! I've only seen such a beautiful little cutie in movies before, but now there's a real one right in front of me! And I can cuddle her as much as I want. This is pure bliss!"

rational arrangement😇
With plenty of land and few people, even an orphan like the original owner of this body had been able to apply for such a large courtyard upon coming of age. However, while the courtyard was big, the house only took up 50 square meters, leaving the other half as empty space. After all, building a house required more manpower and resources, and there was no need for public housing to be that luxurious. Naturally, the government left such a large open space to make it convenient for the poor to dry and preserve their winter food supplies.

😭😭
Although the slum dwellers in the safe zone were extremely poor, their courtyard walls were all over two meters high and made of a special alloy—a necessary defense against Mutant Rat swarms. That way, when Mutant Rats attacked, they couldn't break through the walls or doors and were forced to tunnel underground instead. However, popping out of a tunnel meant dealing with cramped spaces and restricted movement, making it impossible for them to swarm and overwhelm a target all at once. The people hiding inside the courtyard could just wait patiently and treat it like a game of whack-a-mole, directly smashing the Mutant Rats' heads the moment they popped out.

Right now, she wished she could sprout wings and fly back instantly, just so she could cook a lavish dinner and let the four kids finally have a filling meal!

Their adoptive mother had returned much later than usual today, and the things she brought back looked extremely heavy. She was surely very tired. In the past, whenever she was tired, she might not have the energy to beat and scold them that night, but she would definitely make up for it the next day—and the abuse would be even more severe.
