thank you for your imput, here's my thought process when I wrote this. Ace was blown away with a very powerful attack so everyone assumed he wouldn't get back up from an attack like that so In the minds of everyone he was pretty much dealt with, and after all the other goons were detained everyone dropped their guards, and at first I was just gonna have sister lily fade in the background never to be seen again after jon moved on from the orphanage. But then i thought instead of having her fade in the background why not just kill her off, not only would it be the perfect catalyst for jon's spirit awakening but it would also remind jon that his actions have consequences and in a superpowered world it can result in death.
