Well, this story is based on Fae Evolution Merchant. Even the writing style is astoundingly similar. In that one, it takes forever for anything to develop in terms of the MC strength. The MC keeps getting more and more stuff, and they state how he could theoretically use all of it, with the caviat that in like 1500 chapters that I read, he fought like 10 times. This one is extremely similar. Expect it to be about 6000 or 7000 chapters before anything meaningful is developed in terms of his personal strength.

Damn, I said Jeff was dozens of years older, he's whole ass millennia older than MC. This probably means that Jeff didn't show his best Pokémon in that fight and went easy on MC.
